I also legitimately feel that as you become a better player you should focus less on what a bad MU is and just focus on learning it.
Look at the current PR: Every other player (minus Mikey) plays a character that either ***** my main or just beats him. Tutu is debatable but still. I realized that I just need to become a better player in general and the rest will fall into place. I'm no longer discouraged by the fact that this state is just fill of bad MUs for me. Even outside the PR there are several players around my skill level who either main a character who beats mine or would just attempt to blatantly counterpick me. I say **** it, bring it on lol. I used to get pretty mad about that stuff but then I look at players like Kain and I have to bite my tongue.
Kain mains a character who's pretty good overall...but his bad MUs arent just bad...they're ****ing ********. And I've seen that he's had to deal with pocket as well as mains of Dedede, Pikachu, Wario and more. And he's still the best Wolf and one of the stars of the Midwest. I wanna do that someday. The fact that I've been stuck at the bottom of the PR for 3 seasons now means I just have to step it up. My opponent isn't going to care if he's CPing me or not. It's either I win or I lose. Tutu may hate ICs and MK but he's still done a great deal with his character and now he's even top 5 of two characters. Mad respect. I'm gonna do that too soon.
I'm incredibly stoked for Season 6. I plan on moving up and doing more with Dedede. And I'm gonna ****ing BODY Ragequaza. Count on it.
