It's just an item, sir. ;o

Besides, they probably made a mistake. Because the Franklin Badge, in Earthbound, repels Lightning damage... so it'll probably only deflect energy attacks. Not stuff like bombs. Though they may have taken some artistic license.
But still. Just an item. =P

Well, they just said projectile, so I'm not 100% sure.

And yeah, I don't normally play with items, but when I'm FFA-ing with 4 people with everythang on High, well, I don't want this to totally f**k Link over....

But his new smash attack looks...Mmm...

Yea, what's with his stance for that smash attack? I've seen the videos and from what I can tell most of his smashes are the same.....

they may have improved the stance of something else for graphical eefect, like they did with the bow. in melee, he leaned back, while in brawl he leant back on one knee. but either way, I like Link's smashes, I hope they don't change them too much

Again, all I ask is a speed increase. It doesn't even have to be a massive one (i.e. Marth or Fox speed) but enough so Link can see tourneyplay without people who choose him being laughed at...:(

And I think FD Link would rock as Link's "personal burden" in the Subspace Emmisary.

my predictions*ding* and things ive noticed

link has a higher and faster up b

links up b has changed hit tragectory and is no longer a semi spike like melee's pal version and seems that the edge only wisps and the insides do more damage

with the wiimote, you will be able to aim the trajectory of links arrows up or down

bomb arrows could be added on by simply pressing an additional button while charging the arrow or by already holding it

clawshot may replace hookshot if they are bored

links sword range has been shortened as sakurai seems to have made characters with swords,shortened or less ranged

link looks about a tad bit faster in running speed according to the trailer

the wiimote would be a cool gimmick. i mean pit can do it, so why not link?

but yeah, link looks that way now, so that's a good thing. they're making him better

Shorter range? You're kidding, right? I really think it looks a lot longer than it did in Melee. His well, Melee (no pun intended) range has been increased. I've even heard others jokingly refer to Link as "The new Marth"

If so, I believe we have a God-tier-er on our hands :)

It will totally **** link over...lol
His smash looks cool, maybe they reverted back to the 64 smash but more "good looking" lol

They did? I never really got a good look at them. I just know his stance is different, so I'm assuming maybe his F-Smash is different than Melee's one.
It should be different...but melee was good to him...

The only reason I see for the "one knee bow" thing is that a new "technique" is CRAWLING and therefore it probably branches off to doing other things while ducking, like SHOOTING...

mmmm...I wouldn't laugh, Link can pwn anyone just as much as they pwn him...He doesn't need any more speed...I've stood by Link the way he is for the entire course of melee! I believe Link is the best character in Melee! There, I said it...

Bomb Arrows: Take out a bomb...then shoot an arrow lol

i hope link is faster, he always seemed to slow
I hope not, lol, I hope his fire power is enhanced a little, (bomb arrows ^) arrows better in general, "they could be released and charged faster" and his long shot should be longer...
That's about it on my list...

The New Marth?!?!?! Are you ****cing kidding?!?!?! That's soooo dumb, (no offense anyone, but come on)
Link is based on approaching his enemies leading with fire power, Marth has none...
Link will NOT have a speed increase because it is NOT in his character or in any way a part of his true form...Was he fast in ssb64? NO! His speed is proportional to that of the others in the roster and it is all he needs. It's his only weakness and really, he isn't even SLOW!!!
Marth is based on quick approaches and swings repeatedly striking his enemies so they're imobile, Link does half the moves and gives the same damge. His moves are more leaning towards large knock backs and wacking his enemies far then doing it again and again...Marth keeps them close, (that's the only way he can hit them) and that's why Link always, (should always) beat Marth...I'm sure if you looked up Link vs Marth on youtube or something, Link wins the majority of the battles, (with GOOD players anyway)
Link will stick to his roots in Brawl so get used to his (barely worth mentioning) lack of "speed" as you call it. Just get better with his sword spacing, keeping people at bay with his AMAZING fire power and use his variety (this applies to every character really) in attacks, the fast ones vs the strong ones respectively and resourcefully...NO SPEED INCREASE!!!

Sakurai said that among the heavy characters, there are several other attack moves (besides Ike) that can be done without flinching. Do you think Link has one of them?

LOL, sorry to get you all riled up Dynamisim....I'm just spouting what I've heard in other forums. I really hope Link ISN'T the new Marth. I love his playing style. It's just that when I get up close to someone to beat the **** out of them after pelting them with projectiles, I'm sick of Link being so easily countered by faster players and never getting a hit in edgewise.

And Link is the best in anything.

Everything else > Link > Oni Link :)

things i see and speculate*DING*
at 00:16,fsmash, his body doesnt lunge forward as much, but the sword goesa bit further and the hit seems a but different
same at 2:18
at 00:20 his down aerial, doesnt bounce when you hit, but rather goes through the enemy.
oh, it also makes this weird chime when he is beginning the moves and it flashes
At 00:32, his fair changes a bit.
for one,it has a bit more speed and range
2, its range on the backis shortened
3the forward range is lenghtened, and the second strike has as much range as the 1st
2:50 his spin attack goes higher up and there seems to be more solid hits
3:08his ftilt seems wayfaster and has way less lag in the begginning, but the range seems messed
4:03 his arrow goespretty far eve with a bit of charge
4:18 his spin attack goes horizontal than slightly diagonal up
4:25 his jab isnormal andis upsmash has HUUUGE range in thefirst hit and the follow up is fast
4:32 link does his 3 jabs
5:00 link does spin attack in airand looks like it hits more up

@Tsh10: Glad somebody finally posted something like that.
@Underestimate YL: There you go, (referring to previous page a while back)

A second Link confirmed basically (with the bouncing more fit for a rabbit type @twighlighthero: you know I love that term), he's been "re-done" graphically and in moveset as Saki said he would and possibly has the ability to shoot as he ducks, (bow knee) other than this, he looks to be a bran new fighter with the same "Link" feel...

I wish there was a way Link could use his jump attack from the other Zelda games. You know, the one where he jumps in the air and slices the air in half, all while he screams HEYAAA!!

Ok, now that tether recovery makes a return, it's safe to say that Link can use this moves once more. Let's hopes it's as long as Zamus's though (if not longer).

I didn't read all this tread. I don't know if they talked about costumes yet. But I really hope they do more than just change color of costumes. I'm hoping for Village outfit, Zora, and Magic armor. But it might take too long to do all that stuff (anyone know if it takes long?). I'm hoping they have different costumes for people.

I like the idea of alternate costumes rather than alternate colors. In melee, Link's green was too bright, so I used black Link, but in this one, if they only implement alternate colors, I could see myself sticking with the standard green. It's more subdued this time.

new update is in with Link's special moves (finally) basically the same except now you can charge the spin attack, boomerang is the gale boomerang and i think the bow is faster
Wonder if Link will go dizzy after too much charge on the spin attack?

Link just got way stronger, as if he needed to be. (i didn't feel like photobucket-ing the pictures to put them up here) The design for Link is taken from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, so his special moves have also been designed a bit differently.

<Side Special Move: Gale Boomerang>

screenshot

Gale Boomerang!

The Gale Boomerang deals damage when thrown at an enemy, but when it comes back, it also lightly pulls the foe’s body.

<Standard Special Move: Hero’s Bow>

screenshot

The Hero’s Bow! It’s fast.

<Down Special Move: Bomb>

screenshot

Are these bombs made by Barnes?

<Up Special Move: Spin Attack>

screenshot

You can charge up the Spin Attack!

<Grab: Clawshot>

screenshot

All this and the Clawshot, too!

You can use the Clawshot to perform life-saving tether recoveries by aiming at available ledges.

It was difficult to aim in the previous game, but this time it automatically flies to the closest ledge, so it should be pretty simple to use.

screenshot

Of course, it doesn't mean a thing if it can't reach its target...

I feel quite satisfied to this actualization because this means that we could have a more balanced Link. Therefore, we could have a more balanced game.

Well, about Link. If the bow is faster this means that it could be used more. The boomerang have always been a handy weapon but with this Gale Boomerang now is even much better. The Clawshot auto-aim is useful. I mean, Now you can focus on other things.

I like the update, and am glad that Link has a little boost in his potential. but I'm just wondering.

if the spin attack is chargeable, does that mean that it will affect the distance travelled in the air, and iff so, will this make it harder to recover from being knocked off?

what hao chi said, but also, i think that for some characters sakurai is probably trying to emphasize the tether recovery as a better recovery method.

The only thing I predicted right was nothing and I'm still glad with the update. We've seen how strong the Spin Attack is without charging (seen in the second trailer) I wonder if the range of the attack increases when charged and if it becomes even stronger too.

I can see the gale boomerang being very useful for setting up combos into smash attacks with its tornado on the way back. Faster bow was really needed. Charging spin attack sounds good I guess. Clawshot looks much cooler and maybe it will home in on enemies too, lol... probably not tho. Bombs still look sexy as ever. I also hope they speed up some of the animation of his attacks or slow everyone else down abit which I know they did on brawl Fox from the videos. Which kinda sucks cause he is my 2nd character but oh well. TOP TIER LINK!!! Can I have it!? ;)
