Everything has it's time and place, Waffles(ps if you don't respond to this on here then I'm bugging you on aim looool). People love your commentary so you should obviously do it because it keeps older players around. I just think maybe you should have someone else more professional with you sometimes but even if you rotated with someone or we got some system worked out I don't think it should be a "Waffles all the time or no one" situation.

bottom line: keep commentating, understand if you do well you're gonna get haters, and let's work on a solution. =)

@ pp thanks, i understand you being nice, i almost didn't wanna post that cuz i thought it would draw sympathy. I understand what you mean, i know not everyone think's it's bad, it's just hard to ignore some random *** dude after random *** dude talking mad ****, i got boiling points too LOOL

me nor phil didnt see a point to commentate before genesis personally, but people wanted us to commentate so we did

and i kinda didn't know what to talk about

but when i hear people getting hella emotional about the **** i say over a video game, then calling me all kinds of ****, It genuinely makes me not want to be involved with the smash community. I try to think about it in their shoes and to a degree a understand that where they're coming from. Where i get pissed is when falcogunman99 goes in on me like he has nothing better do to and judges then me as a person based on it. Alot of times its funny i know haters gon hate, but then there's times im not in the best mood and name search LOL def shouldn't have done that.

i mean im not gonna say "i quit" cuz i know how strong those words are, i do know i don't plan on doing it anytime soon. Because im always pissed about it afterwards, i feel i gotta be like a wife(much respect to that guy) just speak on the mic. I like being fun and act stupid on the mic, cuz i feel like people take **** too seriously. Plus it's not as fun cuz i gotta damn near force anyone legit to talk to on the mic.

Well man, people hated on wife too. I've talked to plenty who didn't like him or couldn't get over the fact he talked in a rather....effeminate way. Everyone has haters that commentates. It's seriously stupid lol. I think we could please a lot more people and get more of them off your back if we got a community effort going to balance out your commentary with others or just had you rotate with others as well. I appreciate pretty much every kind of commentary, and really do enjoy the hype you bring to the game man. I think you helped bring the hype to Melee to bring it back from the dead in a LOT of ways. I think that it just needs balance is all so the people who want hype are somewhat happy and those who want more professionalism are somewhat happy. That would solve a lot of this negativity being tossed towards you. Everyone gets some of what they want.


And yeah man I can't really imagine how hard it is to see mad people judging you like that because you're being yourself or trying to do a good job on the mic because others will love you for it. I guess I'll just say that if you ever wanna vent about it you can message me and I totally got your back man. You def can be pissed about it and I don't blame you, but don't let it all just get to you and not work around it or not find someone to vent to about it or it just builds and then royally sucks later lol.


also you're not allowed to quit because you're the man and too fun <3

lol sorry I hurt ur feelings man but im just calling it how I see it, u just didnt do a very good job commentating that match. now im not gonna say u do that horribly on every match u commentate (cuz u dont), but, if u wanna take a break for awhile, thats prolly a good idea. its all on u in the end, so do whatever u feel is right bro

@esam **** u dont have a car? **** guess we'll never get to see u x.x noone lives in clemson lol. ur gonna have to start a scene there or somethin =p

There is a difference between a non-hype match with barely any commentary and you ****-talking the players for playing to win. I talked to HBox before the tournament several times to try and help him beat Armada. Everybody rags on Hbox for playing gay, but Armada did the same thing. He camped, Hbox tried to approach, and got wrecked for it. Now, when Hbox does the same thing but can't punish because all Armada is doing is throwing projectiles (Which I have no qualm with, I play Brawl lol), people get mad? Nah, **** that, that is just stupid and not fair to the players. I understand not enjoying a time-out in THE ALMIGHTY MELEE WHERE EVERY MATCH IS SUPPOSED TO BE EXTREMELY HYPED AND OFFENSIVE AND IF ANYBODY PLAYS WITH SMARTS THAT DON'T INVOLVE SHIELD PRESSURE OR PUNISHING THEY ARE AUTOMATICALLY DESCENDED FROM THE DEVIL THAT LIKES PENISES IN THEIR MOUTH AND ANUSES, but seriously...**** talking the players doesn't help either (I don't remember if you were ****-talking them or just saying if it was boring, pretty sure you insulted them).

I agree with PP, the commentary should become like Baseball commentary. Normally, they have a play-by-play (Who would be wife or D1 for instance that says things that are happening) and then a color commentator (Who would be like you/Taj when he commentates on Axe matches). 2 of either don't really work, as commentary gets either really dry (With 2 PbPs) or not enough info (With 2 color).

I wish Brawl was interesting enough on most occasions to have hype commentary...

Edit: I met PP at Genesis2, he was a mediocre Melee player who only got like 7th or something. Could've done better. I would've done better if I didn't main a mid tier :p

Man I wish samus could camp...

Well NC Melee is definitely BETTER than NC Brawl. Your best player is Kadaj lol.

Are tournaments in NC normally Brawl and Melee or one of them?

Also, do any of you guys know of people that drive from the Clemson area over to the NC tournaments?

you ought not be surprised when people get upset when you personally insult someone (calling someone a ******) over something they do in a video game. if you feel like you don't want to be a part of the ssbm community when someone insults you on the basis of your commentary, then imagine what juan feels like when you insulted him on the basis of how he plays melee. do you not see the double standard here?

I'm not trying to say that you're a bad person or anything, nor are you the only one doing it, you just have to realize that what you say has an effect on people, especially being such a known commentator as yourself.

Don't know of anyone who drives from Clemson but our tourneys are largely brawl and melee. That could be changing soon but it's been pretty consistent that way.

and waffles, i just watched ur genesis 2 commentary. *****, besides DA Dave, no one is as legit as you (and when it's you+phil yall are def superior).... don't stop kid. melee needs the swaggiest commentary, it's in its essence a game of swagger.

LOL DA Dave is a funny guy. He rode with us to FCD. He knew alot about the game that people didn't actually find out and post about till years later. He's an ******* tho which make him fun to be around lol

One time when I was in bl@ckChris's room, he did a moonwalk -> reverse first hit nair -> edgecancel -> tipman

Then I did a combo too, but his was cooler
