dude, this isn't ****ing ESPN

wtf...

we're underground as hell (no pun intended), and i hope we stay that way so we can have biased as **** commentary instead of that crap that numbs me to sleep.

easy for me to say though cuz i agree with what the ***** is sayin. as far as i'm concerned, Waffles had every right to call hungrybox a ******. that guy has no honor... people who play like he did in that match are going to ruin this game for everyone else.

but yeah, time outs are a standard thing in Brawl, so i could understand how the commentary would simply seem distasteful to you, stingers. people play melee to escape this **** because far more than often melee players are legit enough to not stoop to such a disgraceful low.

i've noticed its only since brawl came out that the melee community in general makes such a large point about "not being gay". before, people just...you know, played to win, rarely would you see matches go to time but you wouldn't hear people like waffles making fools of themselves over a campy match lmao. I remember watching a peach vs. jiggs match at one of the munkaids I went to that went to like 5 seconds left before someone got the final kill, and I don't recall anyone saying "oh wow ****ing peach vs jiggs is gay as ****ing **** homo *** players need to man up and approach", I just recall the hype of seeing such a deadlocked match go down to the final seconds of play =p

it seems like y'all are just trying too hard to put on a show of counteracting 'brawls gayness' instead of just treating ur game like any other valid competitive game where people realize that there is a need for camping sometimes. like, i dont see how a community could try so hard to make sure they're recognized as "not brawl" instead of being recognized as just "melee". its really silly, and somewhat sad.

LOL this isnt about melee this isnt about countering brawls gayness

this is about commentary and the human opinion

Me, Cam, waffles and Phil are under the impression that play like that is WHACK as **** and gay

And it is, and always has been. even before brawl came out. Playing with the intention of timing someone out, is whack. period in any fighting game. (in my opinion)

amd if the commentator for that match falls under that opinion, who the **** are you or I to judge them? NO ONE. so just mute the video and play some mega man music. ****.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOL

you like brawl vs melee which is funny to me. sad too because I actually agree with what you're saying about the commentary minus all that other stuff you feel compelled to throw in there.

ANYWAY, I think it's entirely possible to make commentary both enjoyable and informative. The thing about our community is it's underground. Do we want to stay underground? Do we want to go further underground? If so, then let's just want FUN IN EVERYTHING WE DO INSTEAD OF LEARNING ABOUT COMPETITION. Sorry that caps stuff is only somewhat relevant to my argument but it pisses me off.

What about people who want to learn about Melee or want to give the game an honest chance for respect? How is listening to some guy rag on how the players are playing instead of teaching him what they could be doing to win good for our image? We're killing our own amazing game by boxing ourselves into a tiny mentality that nothing can get better for us and the status quo can never change. It takes one mind at a time to change for us to improve competitively and professionally. By professional I don't mean we're stiffs that only talk about frame data or matchup trends or what have you. I'm talking about offering insight into players' minds and just WHY some things are so exciting or difficult to pull off too, which actually ADDS respect and hype to our players but in a way that more people can understand.

YES that set was absolutely atrocious because Hbox is Hbox and Armada hates Puff with a burning passion but we have to look at commentary on the whole and not just from the perspective of this one set.

And pitzer, that happened one time on tape vs rockcrock who didn't handle the strategy correctly so that's hardly worth mentioning.

well I guess ur right about that first part, if waffles was *****ing about king ddd in the background of dream land being too distracting for tournament play or something equally as ******** as what he was crying about in those videos, it'd be just as bad

or if there was a commentator commentating mango vs.silent wolf or some **** and they were just constantly running at each other and the commentator was like "yo this aggressive play as whack as ****, they need to ****ing camp, *****, they need to be hella swag camping each other with the gats you know" thatd be just as bad too

but

nobody wants to hear **** like that when theyre watching a video except those who share similar biases (like you and camron for example). do u understand what im saying? tournaments are not ran and people do not participate in them so dylan can complain about it when people start camping, u know?

You aren't really supposed to be biased in a commentary.. that just makes you look like a big *******. With commentary like that, he's fallen to the dark side of WC with their ideals. Just like Seth Killian, it was REALLY apparent he didn't give a **** about international players when he commentated on them. That's not really the way to do it properly. You are supposed to commentate on something without bias and look at it for what it is.. Yes hype is fine too and saying dumb stuff is fine too... but you don't go insulting a player. That's low as **** and ****ing dumb.

Even if we are underground right now.. Don't you want something more? It's up to the players and commentators to do a good job in representing this game. If we want to grow, then we must make conscious effort to do so. For example, increasing our vocabulary when we get interviewed or matches are being commentated on.

So ya... that's what I gotta say to that.

LMFAO @ i've noticed since brawl came out.... yeah ***** was just keeping tabs on everyones opinions at all times since 01 through 09

i like melee because beautiful things happen no matter what.... so even though hungrybox timed out armada in that first match, it was a beautiful (and actually hype as ****) ending...

but that doesn't change something very important.... if i won the match the way hungrybox did, i would feel like complete and utter ****... so i have zero respect for his style.

i only mentioned brawl because you're the one who linked the match, and in order to be a brawl player you really have to not care about the way you win, you just try to win... so i concluded that this was potentially related to why you thought the commentary was so inappropriate because you would have no chance in hell to relate to the opinions of these guys. perhaps you also don't like opinions (esp strong negative ones) period in commentary. i guess someone somewhere would find that admirable or something.

I'm not offended so much as confused at how everything is brawl vs melee about melee.

People got into Melee after Brawl because stuff looked cool because dudes got more technical then because they weren't taking as much time to learn to be smart. No brawl vs melee it was a general trend in people. That's it lol.

ALSO I AGREED WITH YOU ABOUT THE COMMENTARY WHY ARE YOU ARGUING WITH ME

i was arguing with dylan not u o.O

and yes "it was a general trend in people. That's it lol."
thats true. that was exactly what I said lol. melee community didnt care before brawl came out, and after brawl came out they all started complaining about it.

oh it came right after my post I assumed

my first part of the post still stands

edit to your edit: that's just coincidental. correlation causation

Afterthought edit: It's related to Brawl coming out because it made certain people quit but it's not because of the way Brawl is or seems to most people. That's why I say coincidence.

lol okay...but...yes thats exactly what im saying, who likes biased commentary? especially when your being as RUDE about it as waffles was. it was just shameful

@pp: coincidental lol. maybe =p

biased commentary is legit.

haters who hate the anti-mango/jigglypuff ROM1 commentary with Scar and Wife are douchebags

haters who hate the anti-hungry4gayness G2 commentary with Phil and HMW are also, imo, probably douchebags.

and stingers, why do you care so much? you don't even consider yourself apart of the melee community, do you? go time someone out on wifi and leave the cool games to cool people like me and Cash Mooney.

umm ofc I consider myself a part of the melee community, whether y'all do is a different question, but i have respect for both games...like I said tho the melee community these days tries too hard to counter-act brawl instead of just playin their game lol. and no its not everyone @ PP before u say anything about it but like...camping aint that big a deal XD but some ppl try and make it one =/ and then ppl get too serious about it and it seeps into the commentary and ruins it =[

I don't think it's counteracting Brawl so much as just trying to enjoy Melee. I mean if you think about it more people play gay in Melee since Brawl came out so if anything I could make a case that Brawl influenced Melee players to play gayer but I don't really believe that.

But anyway comparisons will always be made between the two because they're a series. It's unavoidable. the best thing to do is look at trends and try to see it all separately rather than blame one game or another unless you really don't see another reason but even then give it all the benefit of the doubt.

I came into melee after brawl came out and I hated it at first but I just wanted to combo people. Now sometimes it's frustrating but finally getting that hit into a combo is such a good feeling. Plus I play Seth in street fighter so against grapplers I'm hardly ever going in I get grabbed and die it ****ing blows. Sometimes it's just the way the match up works

I am starting to like a more hit and run style lately and I like scaring people too. Being able to switch between offensive and defensive is awesome in my opinion
