Is Splatoon 4 likely to be announced or later on?

That’s probably gonna happen later in the Switch 2’s lifespan, considering Splatoon 3 had its final Splatfest not too long.

With that said I hope they port Splatoon 1 to Switch 2

I wouldn’t be surprised if Splatoon 1 even comes to Switch 1. For the 10th anniversary of the series, it’d be a cool throwback.

Can see this. Been wondering if there was a way for EPD 5 to get an Animal Crossing & Splatoon game out early in Switch 2s lifecycle (even if also on Switch 1) given the strength of both series right now. Was leaning more towards them handing Splatoon to another studio for a spinoff but can see a port with maybe some sort of bonus &/or Splatfests events for a bit.

I just got started on a Google Doc coming up with ideas for Switch 2 games and other things.

I see we came to a consensus that Miis should at the bare minimum stay for backwards compatibility, but what are the odds of updates to how they're presented? I think they kind of need that in order to stay relevant in modern HD games. The helmets in Mario Kart 8 are absolutely done to cover their static hair, and stuff like eyes looking to the side shouldn't have to be something Miitopia added itself.

I doubt Miis will be phased out much more considering things like their cameo in the Mario Kart ride at Super Nintendo World, the option to put one on your Nintendo Museum ticket, and use in an active game like Pikmin Bloom. They could be updated in a way that stays true to their original style, especially considering the backlash Sportsmates got. (Though considering Switch Sports sold so well regardless, that may not concern them much.)

I'm a little confused why they're seemingly redesigning them for a specific Switch 1 game a year after the Switch 2. Maybe by the time it comes out, the Switch 2 will have stuff like the ears as part of the base Mii Maker.

With Nintendo, never underestimate them discovering some new concept to try with Mii's. Something utilizing them in a title with the Joy Con mouse feature (just to name one hypothetical) wouldn't surprise me in the least.

It's interesting browsing social media and seeing the prices and paywalls of everything Switch 2 kill some of the hype. I guess it's a good excuse to clear my backlog after biting the bullet on the console and Mario Kart.

I am glad some games will get free updates for some kind of Switch 2 benefits like framerates and stuff (especially because one of them is ARMS), but the list seems a little small.

I'm also a little concerned that third party Nintendo Switch 2 Editions were confirmed, with no sign that Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S will be one.

I'm gonna be honest: I really don't get the hype.

The console itself really looks like a Switch 1.5 to me: a few improvements, sure, but nothing unexpected.

What is worse, the games themselves are... unappealing?

- A new Mario Kart is always nice, sure, but it has never been a system-seller for me.

- I am a Zelda fan, and yet I couldn't care less about Age of Imprisonment. Age of Calamity was a surprise, it featured characters we already knew and cared about, and in the end it proved that is was not the "true story" they pretended. Now, we can do it again, but this time, with characters whose names, faces and personalities we don't even know...

- The fact that there is a new 3D Donkey Kong is by itself a very good news, and sure, Cranky is in it, and we all love Cranky. But I am very skeptical. I am not impressed by the performances. And the art style... well, one of my friends described it as such: "It looks like a mobile game, where every single portion of the landscape is meant to catch your attention with flashy colours, fearing that otherwise you would loose focus and start doing something else." For me, it is just ugly. And I am not convinced by the game mechanics either, although this is too early to judge.

I don't care about any of the other games that were announced. And all this was before I heard about the prices...

At this stage, I am more likely to invest in a Steam Deck than in a Switch 2. Am I the only one in this mindset?

It's quite sad knowing how low the gaming industry has fallen if it's now going to cost us over $600 for the console, and one game. Combine that with the upcoming tariffs, and you can pretty much understand why people are warning us to NOT buy the Nintendo Switch 2 at all.

Well, I mean I remember a time when it only costed around £200 (in UK currency) when the Nintendo 64 launched (adding the Gamecube which costed around £150) and physical games costed around £30-£40 range.

But when you look at where we are now in a time where there is a lot of uncertainty based upon the tariffs (in which there is a lot of disconnect throughout the Internet and social media), the prices of not just consoles that have seen a significant increase, but also to physical games as well in which paying £75 is just way too much for me to afford at this stage.

I do not believe that Nintendo will be the only one impacted by this, but also other sectors will face a similar situation.

Anyways, getting back on to the topic. The only games and features that caught my eye were the Street Fighter 6 Switch Edition, Mario Kart World and the Nintendo Gamecube catalogue for the NSO were the highlights for me.

Was super excited about Mario Kart World, DK Bananza, and Gamecube Switch Online. Then was despressed about the price and the tariff garbage.

Will go through my thoughts one by one.

- Mario Kart World looks great, good to finally have a new home console Mario Kart after so long. My favorite parts are the course design, the character costumes and new items and gameplay elements like driving on water, and the new modes like Knockout Tour and Free Roam. A bit concerned about the seeming absence of Diddy (and Dixie and Funky), but holding out hope they're just being hidden.

- Bananza looks fun as well, glad to finally get a new DK platformer, again after so long. Same concern with Diddy/Dixie/Funky here, but holding out hope they're hidden somewhere. Hope Pauline gets a role here too.

- Gamecube Switch Online is great, I also hope to see DS and possibly Wii get added in the future too. Will be really fun to be able to play so many of these games that now sell for $200 on the service. I most look forward to playing or replaying Mario Strikers, Luigi's Mansion, Path of Radiance, Wind Waker, the two Pokemon games, and Chibi-Robo. I wish they'll also add Melee in the future (alongside Smash 64 on N64 NSO). Other hopes are the GCN Mario Parties, Mario Tennis, Mario Baseball, WarioWare, and Star Fox Assault.

- Kirby Air Riders is also exciting, especially with Sakurai developing. I hope they can include a roster similar to the masks in Kirby Star Allies and not just the small one we had in the original. I want to see the likes of Adeleine, Gooey, Susie, the Animal Friends, etc, all playable, a Kirby version of Mario Kart.

- The one depressing thing, the prices. $450 for the console, while I had been hoping for $400 or lower, I can stomach since that's a one time price, but the $80 for games is a bit harder to swallow, especially with the economy and and how much cheaper I can get games on other platforms. I don't think I would mind the $80 price tag as much if Nintendo discounted their games more often, but the fact that they sold cheap remasters of super old games from generations ago for full $60 and garbage like 1-2 Switch at full price for so long of the Switch's lifespan, it really doesn't give me hope.

There is a Coin Shell and an orb that summons Magikoopa to summon enemies. Plus, there’s a handful of items that originally appeared in Tour:

I really want confirmation that we don't have to drive to the rest of the levels in Grand Prix. I really like the idea of driving to the next level, but I wouldn't want it to be the only way to play.

My predictions:

Battle Mode will be revealed, probably more information on how the new mechanics work, more characters such as Ninji for example, the reveal of older characters like Diddy Kong and Petey.

Maybe that’s exclusive to the Free Roam feature which is probably separate from Grand Prix.

Nothing too specific, other than maybe our first look at DLC. Heck, with how crazy the roster is, I'm not sure I can even say who will be confirmed here...

I may have said this before on another thread, but I hope the Switch 2 will not only have Mario Maker 3, but also revivals of Mario Paint, Talent Studio and Polygon Studio. I think the Mouse-Con controls would be perfect for them.

Also, for Mario Kart World, they should bring back Wart.
