Ok, it's not a spin off, i never cared that much for the prime games, now what are this "plotholes" Gypsy talks about?
Well, most are very complicated and take a long time to explain, so I'll just do the two easy ones off of the top of my head.

The Prime games are canon and take place in between the events of Metroid 1 and Metroid 2. One problem though. After Samus escapes the planet Zebes (from the first game) she goes straight to SR388 to kill all the Metroids. It's in the manual for Metroid 2, the intro to Super Metroid, and it's manual also. I'm pretty sure that it's on the official Metroid website, too. It's under the plot summary or something. Anyway, how can Samus go directly to SR388 when she is cruising through the galaxy when she picks up a distress signal and goes through the all the events of the Prime series? That's a sloppy loophole that could have easily been avoided. A small one, none the less.

In Corruption, we have been told that the Aurora units (aka Mother Brains) were created and developed by the Galactic Federation as use for organic super computers and security systems. But in several manuals and tons of official sources, the Mother Brain was made by the Chozo on planet Zebes as a security and maintenance system. They were the only ones advanced enough to design it anyway. When the Space Pirates invaded the planet, they corrupted the computer and used it for themselves. So how does the Galactic Federation create it? Especially when it was destroyed on Zebes. Another simple loop hole that could have easily been avoided. It just goes to show the lazyness of Retro Studios when they were making the plot for this series.

Those are to quick ones, but there are some really big ones I do for you, but they'll take forever to type out. I'll try to find you the website where they analyzed all of the plot holes that the Prime series created.

Holy *sigh* .

The chozo did create Mother Brain, however it was never sayd that the Aurora Unit was Unique. *wink* No where does it say that the Chozo where the only ones capable of creating it.

Also on the first one, does it really say the she destroyed Zebes and then *ring ring* Now go to Metroid World and pwn them?

Also she could've gone to Tallon and then to SR 388.

They talk about all of that and more on wikipedia just to let everyone know. I posted it earlier.

You got the thousandth post you *******.

Aww, crap, I didn't mean to double post.
Mmm he got the 1000th post, but I got the 1000th reply :D

Meh.. So lost in the Metroid universe right now. I have more knowledge on the timeline of Resident Evil and the endless plot hole that that game has.

Ridley is pretty constant right? Like he gets defeated, comes back better, blah blah, clone gets killed instead of the real him?

No, she goes straight to SR388. There's some more, those are just the little ones. Anyway, the Aurora Unit thing was ********. They were trying to be nostalgic and didn't think ahead of time and ended up screwing up the storyline. I'd like to see how they fix this.

...Mother Brain was the most powerful foe Samus faced...

She didn't have to use the Super Beam plus a metroid's power on anyone else...

Cloned, perhaps? Given the level of reconstruction Mother Brain and Ridley continually undergo, mass cloning isn't exactly out of the picture.

No, the Space Pirates are just very advanced technology wise, and are able to revive them. Besides, Ridley never really died in the first Metroid (he was just defeated) and was repaired as a cyborg in Prime (taking place after the first Metroid). And he fell in Phazon, so he's mutated in Corruption. I'm curious to see how he turns out perfectly normal in Super Metroid is all.

I don't think they're going to tell us that in Prime 3, probably in a new Super Metroid. God that would be sweet.

Like the plot for Metroids I-III really mattered. Since you're using the manuals as reference, I decided to search for them. I assume these sources are accurate.

If you're right about that, then Retro changed a minor, insignificant plot detail to tell a better story. Assuming the source is accurate, the Metroid 2 manual makes it clear that Samus did not go straight to SR388 anyway. The GF went in first, but contact was lost, and rescue missions were unsuccessful. Samus went in as a last resort much later.

In Corruption, we have been told that the Aurora units (aka Mother Brains) were created and developed by the Galactic Federation as use for organic super computers and security systems. But in several manuals and tons of official sources, the Mother Brain was made by the Chozo on planet Zebes as a security and maintenance system. of course, these are all assumptions based on a video of an unreleased game. Disregarding that, looking through the manuals, I see no mention that the Chozo created Mother Brain. Also, Mother Brain's role within the space pirates was never defined well. The Metroid 1 manual implies that Ridley was controlled by Mother Brain. The Super Metroid manual states that Mother Brain was "planet-leading." It seems the earlier Metroid games are also ambiguous or inconsistent on Mother Brain already.

When the Space Pirates invaded the planet, they corrupted the computer and used it for themselves. So how does the Galactic Federation create it? Especially when it was destroyed on Zebes.
Hmm, wasn't the Mother Brain destroyed in Metroid I, then returned somehow in Super Metroid? Seems it can be rebuilt.

I've never played MEtroid II i find the lack of Color disgusting, and when i played Metroid 1... it was... weird... so i played Zero mission instead.

But i've been playing Super Metroid since i was 3 years old. No, i'm not joking.

Edit:

I agree completly with Arteen.

Well don't bother because you're not missing much. Heh, the only enemies on the game are Metroids, upgraded versions of Metroids, and the Queen Metroid.

Game Boy + Metroid II: Return of Samus= BOREDOM!

Thank you Arteen but the Chozo did actually make the Mother brain on Zebes in the official Manga.

But no one explains how the GF made the Mother brains (I shall just call them brains from now on) for all we know they could be stolen from the Chozo or could simply be based off the data Samus gave them from her 1st encounter with a brain from Metroid 1.

Gypsy seriously WHY do you hate Prime? is it because of Retro studios? do you feel bitter about Nintendo handing their franchise to another developer? or are you skeptical about it ruining Metroid because it is in this new Generation?

And Metroid 2 is great BTW... Might even receive a remake if my sources are correct...

I don't even see how Prime could ruin Metroid, all i've seen is that it has expanded on the storyline and FINNALY gave us another Villain besides Ridley and Kraid and isn't Lame.

I mean Before Prime we didn't know a lot from Metroid.

Edit:

About a Metroid 2 remake i am from the idea that Nintendo will do Metroid 5(someday) and also announce a remake from Metroid 2.

Take off the second option since the video said something along the lines of Aurora units created 20 years ago. If the getting idea from data sent by Samus was right, then she would be over 40 in Metroid Prime 3. The idea could have been stolen from the Chozo though.

Ah i see... but all im saying if you have spent 6 or something years making these games im sure they know ALL the story line... heck all it takes is Wikipedia and 5 minutes.

Anyways about that 20 years thing im sure they wouldn't add that in there if i didn't hold some significance.

Likely stolen from Chozo or at least in some way based off of them.

Well, the official manga may or may not be canon, but it's a rather dubious source to get so worked up about. Especially considering Mother Brain's role already has seemingly contradictory descriptions.

Also, you do give some good possibilities for how to resolve Mother Brain being created by the Chozo and the GF creating "Aurora Units." Besides, the Chozo initially creating Mother Brain makes the most sense because the Valhalla update implies the space pirates only recently went after the aurora units; Corruption takes place after Mother Brain is destroyed in Metroid 1, so MB may not actually be an aurora unit, and if Mother Brain was an aurora unit, there would have been earlier attacks to obtain aurora units. Maybe the aurora units are indeed based on an initial Chozo-made Mother Brain, and the space pirates want aurora units for spare parts to repair Mother Brain?.

And Metroid 2 is great BTW... Might even receive a remake if my sources are correct...
I'd love to see M2 remade. I never liked the pre-Super gameplay.
