I'm not going anywhere. Mog is my favorite FF character. Now if you want me to leave you alone I can understand that. I think you have been punished enough for one year. ;)
No, I want you to stop being an annoying **********************

Okay, I'd like to ask a Big question to hopefully put some intelligent discussion in this thread. I have never played a Final fantasy game, so this make some neutral party between this.

The question is: Would all Final Fantasy game's (Not including Spinoffs) main plot happened if Moogle never was created? Would the same story in all of them happen regardless of Moogle's disappearence? Or does Moogle have an Important role in at least some of the games? If he does have a role, how Important is it?

I'd like answers from both sides of the Mog argument. Both supporting Moogle and Anti-Moogle

The only games where Moogles are important to the plot is FFIX and FFVI, but even more so in IX, since Eiko's Mog is the one that saves her life, while the two buffoons (can't remember their names) are trying to take away her summons, otherwise, in all of the other games, the moogle role can be fulfilled by any character.

FFVI's story wouldn't have gone the same way had mog(and his moogle friends) not come to the rescue at the beggining of the game!

Yes.

Would the same story in all of them happen regardless of Moogle's disappearence?
Nope. In, FFVI Terra is rescued by Moogles. If the Moogles do not exist, then the story is altered a bit. I'm not sure about the other Final Fantasies, but that instance is the one that immediately comes to mind.

Or does Moogle have an Important role in at least some of the games? If he does have a role, how Important is it?
The biggest role a Moogle had in the main Final Fantasy series was as a playable character in FFVI. All other Moogles have served as personal guards, game savers, summons, and if you want to get technical, a dress sphere mascot for Yuna in X-2.

@Platnum: Vesperview told me that already.

And thanks for replying.

But if Moogle only has an important role of 1-2 games out of... about 13. How does that make him important enough for a playable spot in Brawl?

By that logic how does that make characters like Squall, Kefka, and Ice Climbers important enough for a playable spot in Brawl?

It doesn't, that's why they won't be playable.

Bad examples, Squall = Leading character, Kefka = Main villain and Ice Climbers = retro leading characters, Moogles = irrelevant side characters.

Someone's going to bring up the fact that Cloud's only been playable in one game, I bet...

EDIT: I knew it (kinda)!

Oh, we know. I know. But, do THEY know? *Points finger over shoulder*
Cloud isn't an icon of video games in general.

Thats pure biased FFVII fanboy propaganda.

Bomberman is a video game icon.

Mario is a video game icon.

Cloud is not. Hes the master of one main FF game and is relevant to several of its spin offs which don't even center around him I might add.

Actually it is not you that determines that Krystal.

The fact that he is the most popular FF character and the fact that FF is the most popular RPG series puts him as a mascot of RPGs and the fact that Japan loves RPGs (Dragon quest they love more than FF) and the fact that Japan is associated with video games puts Cloud as a gaming icon.

And sorry to say but Bomberman isn't exactly a gaming icon but more of an icon of Hudson.

I'm not a fanboy of FFVII. In fact, I dislike it. But everyone knows that Cloud is the most popular Final Fantasy character. Fact. You're only delusional if you deny that.

By the way, Square's trying to squeeze everything they can out of FFVII. That's why the spinoffs aren't focused on him.

But, what is this? How many sequels and spinoffs have FFVI had?

You're very biased against facts.
What facts? That Mog is not important enough to be playable? That you argue that he is cheaper thinking that gives him a better chance? That you can't accept that third parties have to be popular otherwise paying for their rights is completely pointless and a bad move? That you only argue originality as if any character can't be original? Please, the only biased one against facts is you.

he still is too me. hudson has had a few mascots. bonk, zonk and bman. it has not been officially announced (or not that i know off) who the current mascot . i presume it is not zonk because he is dead (not had a game for awhile). They are still pioneering bonk and talks on bonk wii have emerged because on an episode of beetv they showed new bonk concept art. Bman is an icon and is their number 1 console game currently. so its up to us to make the choice.

bonk FTW

I'd go with Bomberman. lol.

Oh, yeah, I never really tried then, because I never really heard of him until VC. Turbografx games really look like ****, to be honest. lol.

I don't deny Cloud is the most popular Final Fantasy character. What I do deny is the notion of him representing Final Fantasy in its entirety. I don't care how popular he is, his main game reign lasted as long as Squall's or Zidane's. Which was one. If people changed their minds about Cloud and considered Aeris to be their favorite character would Aeris represent FF in its entirety and be considered the face of the franchise?

Do you see how flawed this popularity logic is when determining which character the franchise is built on? The only solid evidence any supporter has when claiming a character is the face of a franchise is # of main titles that character was a part of.

By the way, Square's trying to squeeze everything they can out of FFVII. That's why the spinoffs aren't focused on him.
Great then you will stop pretending that the spin-offs are a huge factor in Cloud's favor? Its not like FFVII fans didn't enjoy the other characters and the story behind the game right? Otherwise we would have never gotten these spin-offs dedicated to those characters and their stories.

But, what is this? How many sequels and spinoffs have FFVI had?
Its a little too late for a Final Fantasy VI sequel and it also doesn't help when you're right behind the game thats supposed to pave the way for future Sony exclusive FF titles.

FFVI spinoffs would be pointless. What could there be to go off on? Everyone that mattered either died or accomplished their goal during the main game and unfortunately, FFVI never had a backstory as strong as FFVII's. It's plot was fairly cookie cutter with no hidden subfactions with volumes of history on those alone. Maybe a prequel is possible, but even that would be scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Square knows that if any character would "fully represent" the series, it'd be Cloud. Seriously. If you argue Mog would, then Chocobo would have a chance. Or Cactuar. Or any other race that is familiar with the series.

Great then you will stop pretending that the spin-offs are a huge factor in Cloud's favor? Its not like FFVII fans didn't enjoy the other characters and the story behind the game right? Otherwise we would have never gotten these spin-offs dedicated to those characters and their stories.

Nope. Not only was the main game focused on him, he has a full motion picture based on him. Not only that, but he's still focused on somewhat in Crisis Core. We get to see his interactions with Zack.

I must say, FFVII fanboys are some of the weirdest, though. Dirge of Cerebrus was horrible to me, be a lot of people loved it. :ohwell:

Too late? Maybe you don't know that they are going to have a sequel to Final fantasy 4! That's right. A game that's older than Final Fantasy 6. So is it too little too late?

By the way, it's never too little too late. It's a video game! You can create a new story out of what was left in the previous one.
Oh yeah... love not knowing how to quote well.

I suppose Ice Climbers were important enough to be playable?

That you argue that he is cheaper thinking that gives him a better chance?
Well it makes getting the character that much easier doesn't it? Its not like Nintendo is willing to shell out billions just because they have billions.

That you can't accept that third parties have to be popular otherwise paying for their rights is completely pointless and a bad move?
Paying for Mog would not be pointless and a bad move. Moogles are considerable part of FF history and there is no doubt FF fans would look into Brawl just because he was in and he would cost less than Cloud I'm guessing which means the risk is lowered considerably.

That you only argue originality as if any character can't be original? Please, the only biased one against facts is you.
You act as if that sword Cloud carries around is something that has never been seen before in Smash. Fact of the matter is it has. Mog is a spear user who would bring a different feel to the game based on that alone, to deny this only shows just how much you truly care about originality.

Too late? Maybe you don't know that they are going to have a sequel to Final fantasy 4! That's right. A game that's older than Final Fantasy 6. So is it too little too late?
Source? I hope its not that FFIV DS remake you are talking about, because that isn't a sequel.

And why do you argue like Ice Climbers are on the same level as Mog?! They aren't!

Ice Climbers:

1st Party
Main Character of their Game

Mog:

3rd Party
Optional Character of their Game

See the difference?

i wish people stop bringing up the ice climbers. they were "leads" in a classic game. SSBM needed some classic reps. ice climbers fitted the bill.

it doesn't matter about how much it costs it matters if Nintendo can turn a profit.

1. Yhea because being the main protagonists of your own franchise is totally un important.

2. Money is not an issue on brawl.

3. Yet more FF fans would look into brawl if Cloud was in.

4. Yhea an uber giant sword hasn't ever been in smash before, and it would be interesting, much more interesting than a spear.

Compare their importance and put third party status aside.

Let me clarify: Compare Ice Climbers importance to gaming in general with Mog's importance to gaming in general.

it doesn't matter about how much it costs it matters if Nintendo can turn a profit.
Nintendos going to turn massive profits with or without Cloud. You should really be wondering if such an expensive character is going to be worth the price of admission when Brawl hits the shelves.
