Whoever checks out GSL, let me know if they have PS3s and if they have games there readily available or if you have to bring you own. Particularly, I wanna know if they have Virtua Fighter 5 and Tekken: DR there. Or if at least they'll have a copy or 2 of Virtua Fighter 5 for Xbox360 when it comes out. If this is so, I might honestly be there surprisingly often for a place that charges $6 an hour.


By the way people, what ever it would cost to run a tourney at Paralax and GSL, it'll cost much less of Castle Golf. As long as I run it (I work at Castle Golf), there is no set price you have to pay beforehand to use the area. For my past tournaments there, it was $15 entry with $5 going to Castle Golf. One time, we tried $5 tourneys. That got Castle Golf only $20 out of the deal (and we played from like 4pm to close), but they don't care too much if the room wasn't going to be in use anyway. Now I'm doing $10 tourneys, except for July 1st.

So basically, there is no set price they expect. It's up to me to look at all the money everyone gives me, and figure out a fair way to split it up between prize and venue based on the circumstances. (In my first tourney there, I was given a total of $265. I gave $80 to Castle Golf, and the rest was prize. Another day I got $165, and $50 was given to Castle Golf.)

For tournaments it's not by the hour. have you ever been to one? Because again by saying GSL is too expensive then you are basically saying you are too expensive too because it's well within our ability to get a similar price with them.

I'm considering going to castle golf on the 1st with a couple of kids from my school that play semi-competitively. I just wanna know if there is going to be a majority of melee set-ups or if it will all depend on how many systems are there. Also what type of tournaments will there be (1v1, 2v2, low tier, etc.)?

really, if there is a tournament somewhere we'll go. from what i can tell the negotiating crap with GSL is for biweekly tournaments? it's not like we won't go if castle golf holds a tourny, but the biweeklies depends on the store and the setups. if GSL is nicer than castle golf it might be worth the little extra money anyway. parallax isn't a good option because of both the prices AND the lack of AC and space, so we 're looking for a comfortable place with reasonable prices

superryan, I think are misunderstanding each other. But nevertheless, all I'm saying is that there is no price negotiating over at Castle Golf as long as I run the event. Just tell me when, bring your stuff, and everyone just pays the usual fee to enter the actual tourney. (I recommend at least $10)

WFL, unless there are a plethora of people playing the same game at once, there will be only one TV for any particular game at a time.

As far as how the Smash tourney will be run, let me know what you all want. If I don't hear any requests, I'll just go with the Evo2k standard.

It's like 10 minutes from ronkonkoma train station, and theres alot of food places nearby and stuff.

However we need big turnouts for these things to even start, so we still have time before he gets adapters and stuff.

Basically if you guys can't step up this **** is never going to happen.

GSL is MAD NICE only problem is laggy tvs but they're getting the chords to solve that, 5 tvs that are really nice we can bring our own to when needed step this **** up guys, we should try to get at least 50 for the first event so he sees we can bring in money
