Idea Killer: CanadiansInteresting idea for DWYP 2: The Presidential Race...
Hmm...
Then isn't that exactly the same as what we usually do?You don't need to be from America to have a poltical stand-point or a view on an issue. The debates can be centered on a wide range of international issues including the War on Terrorism, U.S. Torture Facilaties in other countries, Abortion, Gay Marriage, etc. etc.
Really, we are just debating general things that the Presidential Candidates are also debating.
I'm also not assuming that a dozen people will send him something much more intelligent.make the announcement about the debate hall said:laskhfa;lhfasl;kghpioqwurqpoweryiyptqtyireutiyqrio qrqwrewrweuiryquiory
I'm sure you'll get an exception. But what do I know, I've been a temp debater for almost 2 months I think. Kind of my fault for being an idiot when i first joined though.Hey guys, I'm having a problem here. The thing is that I was accepted as a DWYP member, I made some post throughout my week (about one or two weeks ago), everything was ok, and them BAAM!! lost my connection. I haven't been able to get on the site for quite a while to finish my post and make my thread and whatever, and I was thinking, can I finish what I started (make a thread and one or two more post) or did I lost my chance to be a debater?. I know I'm late for that but if CK or EE can give me an answer to this problem, I'll appreciate it.
Eeeek! Was I added to the Deb. Hall in your absence? I have no idea if I was or not. I'm boned..Thanks to school, I basically have 13 hour days where when I get home I am too tired for anything. Though since it's Labor Day weekend (bloody socialists) I'll do all admissions this weekend. Yes, people who were added during my absence might be revoked. Yes, if I do remove you, you still have another shot later. And yes, I will tell you how to improve.
I am looking to begin work on it tonight, and finish by tomorrow night. It'll be late, as I have a wedding reception to attend.
Oh no! I read all the rules again and again since I appliedYea, screw my original plan. I am adding everyone who applied to either the Debate Hall or the Temp Debate Hall. I'll be doing this once a month. It dawned on me that my method was too complicated since I can still remove people at whim.
Now, it's more of, I look at everyone who is in the Temp group. If you weren't a complete ******* and posted often, you'll be invited to come in. Though, now that you mention it, next time I'll make it so all temp debaters have to sign-in. It's too late now since I sent out the PM, but that's a great idea.Oh no! I read all the rules again and again since I appliedYour original plan was fine to me, but I can say that allowing everyone helps to create good debates. Thumbs up for that.
BTW, we have to do the same process? (Check in/out list, 6 posts, a thread, etc.?) I hope! Because It's a good method to keep in touch with replies.
Exactly, while temp debater you can know people before making him able to post as a debater. Like everything there are pros and cons in admitting everyone at once. Pros: A lot of people would help to make a good debate and everyone can share opinions, Cons: you can't guarantee he/she won't insult, flame, Spam, etc. But It's obvious that kind of things are everywhere. Now, it's more of, I look at everyone who is in the Temp group. If you weren't a complete ******* and posted often, you'll be invited to come in.
I agree, and have felt that way for a while now, although I didn't really feel like coming out and voicing it.After thinking about both this DBH and the old, non-exclusive on, I'm starting to get nostalgic.
Is it possible to have it that everyone has access to the room, but can get kicked out? Just because I still think the way we have it narrows down the topic, to where we usually have one active topic at a time, with two or so other ones with some activity, then we switch. Really, I'm enjoying the debates in the pool room more then here right now, because those are more open to everyone. If one person doesn't answer my question, someone else will probably answer it. While here, it's mainly Delorted or Snex debating, with a few extra people wandering around.
What if we combined both worlds of it.I agree, and have felt that way for a while now, although I didn't really feel like coming out and voicing it.
Although we seem to have lost a really strong and/or interesting debaters from the old DH (BBT, RDT, Novowels, etc.) I still feel like the Debate Hall could be at least partially revitalized by making it more open. A group membership in which everyone is in by default and only kicked out after they make problems would accomplish this magnificently, in my opinion.
I agree that we don't want everyone from the Brawl rooms coming in here to debate, but that's okay, because most of them don't want to.I understand that the pool room debates are alright, but if we open up the DH fully again. I fear the worse. Just look at the Brawl rooms, imagine if alot of those guys came here to debate. There would be a lot of kicking out, and it would just become the same DH.
Yeah, if the DH is open to everyone some wouldn't come, particularly because most members only want to post in the Brawl's rooms (and it's ok, 'cause this Forum is a Smash community).I agree that we don't want everyone from the Brawl rooms coming in here to debate, but that's okay, because most of them don't want to.
