Pokémon Counter Game

Basically, what you do is, after someone posts a moveset for a Pokemon, you post a Pokemon with a moveset that counters what the above person posted. For example, let's say member A posts a moveset of a Pokemon (to counter the previous poster's Pokemon). Then, member B comes in and posts this Pokemon because it counters member A Pokemon:

Sandslash @ Leftovers
Sand Veil/Jolly
252Atk/252Spe/4HP
Earthquake
Night Slash
Stone Edge
Swords Dance

Then, member C would come along and post this Pokemon because it counters member B's Pokemon:

Leafeon @ Life Orb
Leaf Guard/Adamant
252Spe/252Atk/4HP
Leaf Blade
X-Scissor
Return
Synthesis

And then this process repeats itself.

Now, there are obviously rules:

1) Only BL and below are allowed. OU Pokémon and Ubers are not allowed.

2) Don't post stuff like:

Slaking @ Choice Band
Truant/Adamant
252Atk
Giga Impact
Filler
Filler
Filler

This is because the person that posts after you doesn't know what your posted Pokemon's other moves are, so they wouldn't know if their Pokemon counters yours or not. So, make sure to fill everything out. Don't forget to add a full EV spread, as well. This is what you should have, although you don't have to apply by this particular format:

Pokemon @ Item
Ability/Nature
EVs
move 1
move 2
move 3
move 4

Then you can post a small explanation as to why this Pokemon counters the other one.

2) Remember what a counter is: A Pokemon that can safely switch into any of the attacks from the Pokemon it wants to counter and can immediately pose a threat to the Pokemon it wants to counter or make the Pokemon it wants to counter switch-out while not being threatened in any way by the Pokemon it wants to counter.

3) Decide on ONE move per move slot. Don't post things like:

Crunch/Night Slash
Waterfall/Hydro Pump
Earthquake/Ice Fang
Rain Dance

4) Assume that all Pokés have 31 IVs in each stat, unless things like Gyro Ball/Trick Room are used.

5) Don't assume Spikes/Toxic Spikes/Stealth Rock. Don't use these also.

6) Hail from Abomasnow is only assumed for five turns/Pokémon. Otherwise induced weather is also only assumed for five (eight if extending rocks are used) turns. Same with Trick Room, Reflect or Light Screen.

7) The following moves are banned: Acupressure, Assist, Baton Pass, Beat Up, Bind, Block, Camouflage, Clamp, Destiny Bond, Double Team, Fire Spin, Fissure, Foresight, Grudge, Guillotine, Healing Wish, Helping Hand, Horn Drill, Lunar Dance, Magma Storm, Mean Look, Memento, Metronome, Mimic, Minimize, Miracle Eye, Nature Power, Odor Sleuth, Perish Song, Present, Roar, Sand Tomb, Sketch, Spider Web, Spikes, Stealth Rock, Toxic Spikes, U-Turn, Whirlpool, Whirlwind, Wrap.

8) 'lol switch' is not a way to avoid being countered.

9) Don't assume Critical Hits, unless you're supposed to land crits. (Super Luck Scope Lens Absol using Night Slash, for example.)

10) Don't assume max damage all the time.

11) Don't counter using Focus Sash. Focus Sash is only allowed if not necessary to counter the other Pokémon.

12) If a Pokémon can't harm Shedinja, don't be lame and put that down as a counter.

13) Be sure that your counter works. Don't be like 'i think it works, but too lazy to confirm'.

14) For Choiced movesets, make sure that ALL moves work against what it's supposed to counter. For example, don't post a Choiced Slaking with Shadow Claw on something like Lopunny, as Shadow Claw would not be able to beat the previous counter. CHOICE ITEMS ARE BANNED

FIRST COUNTER

Arcanine@Life Orb
Adamant/Flash Fire
252Atk/252Spe/4Hp
-Howl
-Extreme Speed
-Flare Blitz
-Iron Head

I thought I'd make it easy on you guys.

Max/Max defenses just barely keep me from being 2HKO'd by Ice Beam and higher speed lets me roost off the damage, set up light screen and SD up. FEAR MY +6 THUNDERPUNCH WHICH IS ONLY A 2HKO!

YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO FEAR IT!

Gastrodon@Leftovers
Bold/Sticky Hold

-Stockpile
-Recover
-Toxic
-Surf

Technically I can just Recover till you kill yourself from Life Orb damage since you can't 2HKO me and I can Recover.

Wow, you two are combating pretty strongly. I'd throw a set up but I don't know the tier well enough.

This isn't a Forum Game and never should be one. 99% of Forum Gamers would fail here.
Also, this is complicated enough for post count.

Vs. Moltres:

Flareon @ Leftovers
Calm/Flash Fire
252HP/252SpD/4SpA
Flamethrower
Will-o-Wisp
Hidden Power Rock
Wish

Eats Fire Blast, resists Solar Beam and HP Electric does crap damage. Has good Special Defense to work with and HP Rock to beat you. Will-o-Wisp cripples physical attackers attempting to beat it.

How did you get Hydro Pump on Luvdisc?

Toxicroak@Expert Belt
Jolly/ Dry Skin
252speed 252 attack 4 hp
sucker punch
thunder punch
Earthquake
cross chop

I switch into a rain dance (because that what your set is based on), take 50% damage from Blizz and OKHO you with a thunderpunch. If you blizzard instead of rain dance, i take 50% and then outspeed you for the OHKO. And your water moves heal me.

Most certainly doesnt KO with Crunch. And you cant switch in, both Cross Chop and Thunderpunch are OHKOs. Toxicroak w/ Dry Skin is immune to one of your STABs, and resists the other....... Sharpedo is most definatly a fail at countering Toxicroak. You COULD KO with EQ- assuming Toxi didnt kill you on the switch- but thats not happening.

Can't Sucker Punch Calm Mind. Thunderpunch and Earthquake do nothing and Cross Chop won't do too much. Or uses Earth Power (Sucker Punch fails to 2HKO) while you kill yourself with LO damage.

It is a game, but not something that most comminers to the Forum games would enjoy. It does require strategy, but they just don't want it moved at all costs.

I understand that it involves more than common knowledge of how pokémon works, but it is inherently a forum game. That's not really a problem until you look at this thread and realize that the trend is going to be two people posting back and forth and back and forth for a long time until someone else interjects. That's just silly and adds to post count, which is why post count is disabled in Forum Games. I would recommended adding a rule that the same two people cannot make four posts in a row.

Lol, you can't but I didn't bother to check. I wasn't even sure if Luvdisc could learn blizzard

Oh well, it's changed for correctness and Surf still works as a counter anyways so there.

Edit: Tom, don't bother moving this. The only reason there were two of us posting back and forth was because it was like 2 in the morning. It's not something that happens alot and you can look back at The Old Counter Game thread to see proof. This game wouldn't really fit in the Forum Games room since there's not enough people there who understand pokemon well enough to play it, they'd come in, post something inane and we'd have to constantly be correcting them. It's just easier for us this way >.>

well there used to be another counter game, but it died....more people will post just not when it's a freshly baked thread, you have to let it cool off a bit.

Even if paper counters are functionally useless this game is pretty **** fun.

Yup, this is pretty much just made for countering the above Cradily. **** you Confuse Ray.

EDIT: Poopy, I type too slow. Anyone wanna confirm if my Crobat beats Spiritomb? I spent like a whole 10 minutes performing calcs and I don't feel like wasting more of my time :(. Morale: -10 points.

@ Gallade:

Crobat @ Black Sludge
Inner Focus: Modest
228 HP/236 SpA/44 Spe
-Nasty Plot
-Heat Wave
-Sludge Bomb
-HP (Ice)

Sludge Bomb deals 27% min, enough to break your sub and with a Nasty Plot, you get 2hko'd 100% of the time. Focus Punch+Close Combats 3hko with ridiculous luck, but if you do Close Combat, Sludge Bomb will KO even sooner. Night Slash also 3hkos. If you held a Life Orb... that would be a different story. 228 HP is also a leftovers threshold.
