Ok, my last post I admit didn't go over too well. But I still stand that the Direct did not hurt the Miis that much. They're lower. But I wouldn't say it's that much. Absolute lowest percentage for Miis is 50/50 and that's still one of the higher percentage of Newcomers.
I also want to reiterate, that if Miis were not included. I would not be entirely upset. (I'd be more so just annoyed that many of the people who had stupid reasons for not wanting the Mii to feel like their reasons were vindicated by their exclusion).
I'm just convinced that Miis are more then likely (And still are) because of the way Smash Bros. games of the past have worked with representing the previous console generations and even if the Icon argument hurts them it's only one thing versus so much that has helped the Miis chances before the Direct. I brought this up back in my
big post against all of the arguments prior to the direct (Since the Icon one wasn't an argument at the time). But SSB64 took things from the SNES and Game Boy era by including stars from key games from the System. It's WTF character even being Ness, which without the push of Smash Bros. Earthbound probably would of remained obscure.
Melee was celebrating the Nintendo 64. With stuff like the Zelda characters being Ocarina of Time styled, N64 Game inspired stages such as Rainbow Cruise. And plenty more
Brawl celebrated the Gamecube era with many nods to gamecube games like F-Zero GX, Super Mario Sunshine, Metroid Prime, and even added two third-party characters that were at least kind of relevant to the Gamecube. (Metal Gear had Twin Snakes ported on the Gamecube, while Sonic had plenty of games made for the Gamecube).
Smash 4 has already shown signs of representing the Wii Era in a majority of our Newcomers. Wii Fit Trainer, Villager being in his City Folk design for his default, Little Mac, and Rosalina. While that hasn't stopped past Smash games from putting representation a console generation late or even quite a few considering Mr. Game and Watch or we even have at least one new "advertising" Newcomers like Greninja. It's obvious Smash kind of serves as not only just a pure fighting game between Nintendo All-Stars. But also a bit of a Time capsule that reminds you much of what was significant in the previous console generation. And the reason I believe Miis are very likely playable characters are that they're basically the very symbol of the Wii whether we like it or not. And also a big reason why the Wii was such a success for Nintendo, as the Miis expanded Nintendo's demographic that made the Wii sell like hotcakes and it's thanks to the idea of Miis that was possible. So excluding the Mii would kinda feel like the roster is missing something quite significant when it has done so much to represent what were the big successes during the Wii console generation.
And whether we like it or not, the Mii games tended to be among the more successful games during the Wii's lifecycle. And Nintendo will look at that success and think it's way too significant for them to just be ignored in their big crossover game in Smash Bros. We already got surprised by the fact Wii Fit Trainer got in partly to Wii Fit's success (And also Sakurai wanting to pick a completely unexpected newcomer for once). As much as this site would blow up with anger when/if the Miis are revealed as playable. This shouldn't have been a surprise as it will be for some ever since Wii Fit Trainer and to a lesser extent Villager's reveals. Or in short, Miis have been seen as quite likely ever since E3, the many stages for them have made them even more so. The Icon thing is debatable, but it's not enough to just throw away all the stuff cluing us in on the Mii's that we have had since last E3.
