The Mega Man in SSB Wii-U and 3DS Discussion Thread

I am curious which Mega Man fans here think he will be confirmed in just 3.5 days time (half a week). Personally, I am really crossing my fingers for a Mega Man confirmation. He's the only true newcomer I really want for Smash 4 aside from the guy in my avatar.

I think Mega Man has a really good shot at being confirmed. His main obstacle I think is Sakurai wanting to go with a less anticipated third-party newcomer at first, while saving Mega Man's confirmation for a later point.

Still, I really hope he gets confirmed on Tuesday.

I think that is dependent on how many third-parties we get. If we get two, Mega Man will likely be held back until later but if we only get one, I fully expect to see Mega Man at E3.

It's best to not expect third-parties in general, given that we don't know if they are going to return; however if we do get new third-parties, I could see Mega Man being a part of it if he's in.

Wait, the Brawl trailer had Solid Snake, and he's third party. I think a lot of people are expecting the upcoming trailer to have a third party reveal as well (if third party characters are getting in). It's great hype build up... Mega Man's music playing and him being introduced like a robot master would make my day.

Yeah, if he does get confirmed for Smash Bros. 4, I can see him having a robot master like intro. I think that Megaman has a very good chance of being confirmed. Though I don't know that he will be confirmed at the reveal trailer exactly. Still he seems likely to me, given how Sakurai mentioned a Capcom character might be possible. And some people at Capcom seems okay with his inclusion, so long as Nintendo is willing to talk it out with them.

Well here's another music suggestion. Megaman X2: X Hunter stage 1 and 2 theme. Personally, I think it's one of the better themes in X2. Though I'm not really sure if anything will beat The Opening stage theme or Flame Stag's stage in my opinion. Bubble Crab is pretty cool too.

Difference is that Sonic couldn't be in the trailer because he wasn't intended to be in the game at all at that point. Sonic's popularity was incredible, no other character ever has or will match his popularity, and that's why he was added into the game so late in development, I don't see that happening again.

If he doesn't, then there's always the chance that they're keeping the 3rd party characters hidden, as in real hidden characters this time around, and not advertised everywhere. Though that would be an odd move considering the successful reaction Sonic managed to create.

They would reveal the guests. It would be stupid not to.

That doesn't stop the fact that we have had a third-party mentioned on the Dojo instead. Megaman could easily be saved for that (Or Lloyd) to reveal on a rainy date. Esepcially if they have to delay again.

They'll milk it in some way we'll know before the game releases. The questions are just on how, and if we'll even see another third-party.

2.5 more days until a possible Mega Man confirmation

At this rate, Mega Man is one of the very few third-parties (along with Layton for his "fighting without fighting playstyle and a Tales rep for potentially bringing new mechanics to the game) that I could see hyping the game and really the only one that could end up being as popular of an addition as Sonic (read this for why I don't believe I'm crazy about this even if requests isn't at the same level as Sonic).

One idea I have for a Mega Man confirmation trailer is that after the end of the Smash 4 trailer, a trailer for Mega Man in which he's shown on top of a building (a la Mega Man 2) and after an arrangement of Mega Man 2's intro is over, Mega Man kicks ***.

I doubt Mega Man not being revealed at E3 would be related to his chance. The only way his chance would drop is if Snake, Sonic and a new third-party that's not revealed got confirmed and/or if Sakurai/Capcom makes a negative statement in regards to Mega Man's chances; otherwise they're the same.

You know what? There's so much good music in the Mega Man series that THAT is probably the hardest part about making him playable. It must be insanely difficult to even pick a list of 10-20 tracks. Good lord.

Couldn't have said it better. There's a few obvious ones like Wily's Castle 1 (MM2), Shade Man (MM7) and Mr. X Stage (MM6), but things get much more debatable from there. My GameFAQs thread even had an argument between which Wily Castle music was better.

No doubt. I'm actually having a hard time picking between Willy's Castle 1 (MM2) and Wily's Castle 1 (MM9) Both of them are some of my favorite tracks in the series, although I think they'd go with the more iconic track. Seriously though, why not have both?

Yeah, but I doubt he'll be in this trailer, unless Capcom uses it as a way to celebrate their 30th anniversary. From a business perspective, saving him for after E3 would be the wisest move, and would take some of the PS4's thunder, and some of the Xbox One's.... well, it might make people forget about the Xbox One, which would actually be good for Microsoft!

Played Mega Man 2 for nearly six hours and I almost beat the game, although I got tired.

Monday I plan on playing the entire game and finally beating it in time for the Nintendo Direct trailer. If Mega Man is confirmed. it'll only make the confirmation sweeter, especially since it'll be the first Mega Man game I've ever beaten. Oh and I plan to beat the game from playing all the way from the start on Difficult level and without using a sort of a save function used on the Wii Virtual Console (I haven't done this in MM2 to challenge myself).

It really feels good that I'm finally playing games again and spending so much time on MM2 was especially satisfying.

As with the theme of the game, it should be punishingly difficult. He should be one of the last characters you unlock.

And no, I don't want to unlock characters by playing them in a story mode again. Unlock the story mode after all the characters are available; makes me much more fun.

Granted, it's possible, but it's such a better fit for the initial trailer, I'd rather know about MM sooner than later, and just expect Smash 4 at most next Spring.

For getting my 10,000th post, I won the badge "you could have written a novel by now." I think that's selling how long my posts are pretty short.

Because I expect the first few newcomers to be revealed at the Nintendo Direct's trailer along with one third-party (should one be included). Including Ridley/King K. Rool and Mega Man in the trailer would be a great way to hype the game.

I think we'll get 3 newcomers at the most, but I'm leaning towards 2, and I think a new 3rd party character would be best saved for after that, as well as after Sonic and Snake are confirmed to return (which by our Lord God the Father Miyamoto they better!).

Neither do I, but from a business approach that is how I would do it (if Mega Man is indeed playable, and he better be). Let's just hope Nintendo, Namco Bandai, and Sakurai disagree with my business and promotional logic!

A defining feature about Mega Man is the music. In Japan, Mega Man is Rock Man (as we all know) and Proto Man is Blues; obviously referring to music.

I think music will be a big part of Mega Man's inclusion because of how big of a part it plays with Mega Man games. Hoping for some great re-mixes occurring.
