Either way, Count is good and probably knows what he's talking about, although I haven't actually read his post yet (and I could probably argue forever about why this matchup could be 50:50.)

Diddy does have better ground options, his SideB, and the ability to generate Bananas. However Mario's aerials are faster than Diddy's and overall safer. His quick air game (which keeps his options open under Banana pressure) and ability to Cape stall to simultaneously avoid traps AND counter bananas are what make this matchup even, in addition to Mario's easier time scoring a KO (Mario will kill significantly earlier than Diddy with all three Smashes, and correct prediction can result in scoring gimps as well).

Few things l noticed,

if it's two naners, it's obviously a temp trap. Don't approach diddy's gay wall of peanut gun and nanaer in hand and nana in front. just wait it out and be patient for it to go away.

if it's one nana, it's fair game since you can actually press on the offensive and take easily control of the nana and most of your natural tools will beat diddy here.

again if you **** up, diddy can really do some gay **** on mario and capitalize on mistakes. Diddy is just really about flow, once you get the hang of it, the Mu becomes alot more clearer.

never be afraid to go offstage to go for a gimp, mario's has the tools as vato stated before that mario can gimp diddy, also dont be afraid either if hes on the ledge, mostly takes reaction but i see too many players get mind****ed easily on obvious **** (i.e ledgedrop wall jump nana pull to side b)
