Ryu may need a worthy rival to step up to the plate. If Ryu's in at all, it's just playing on the same leak as Roy, which is good.I don't see how the World Championship affects Roy at all....
Exactly. We still have the Direct presentation...and the Fire Emblem Concert. It's like how last time we had the Smash Invitational but we still got Palutena and Mii Fighters in the Direct presentation.Ryu may need a worthy rival to step up to the plate. If Ryu's in at all, it's just playing on the same leak as Roy, which is good.
We still have the Direct presentation, the Fire Emblem concert, and the ballot is open until October, don't give up hope now. This and the Direct is just Plan A, the FE concert is Plan B, and the Ballot is Plan C. We may see random backup plans pop up later down the line, the concert and this championship are examples.
This doesn't hurt Roy or Wolf one bit lol. The Digital event will most likely reveal them alongside their respective games while Ryu will be the final character revealed at the conclusion of the World Championships.Overall, I don't think this really hurts Roy's chances at all. We'll most likely see him alongside Wolf in the digital event.
Why would Nintendo reveal Roy to a small amount of people that are going to be at the concert, than hype it up at E3? Of course, it may happen at the concert, but I think the better option will be to make it as hype as possible at E3.Why do you all believe Wolf AND Roy will get revealed in one digital event? The more logical option is for Wolf to get revealed in the event (because he's more iconic) and Roy perhaps at a concert, perhaps at the following direct.
Why not have both? It's not fair to have to wait until July for a Japan exclusive event when he can be revealed at E3 where he'll gain much more exposure to the public. Your making this sound as if it's either Wolf or Roy which is pretty ridiculous if you ask me.Why do you all believe Wolf AND Roy will get revealed in one digital event? The more logical option is for Wolf to get revealed in the event (because he's more iconic) and Roy perhaps at a concert, perhaps at the following direct.
At best, Sakurai will be there just to announce the final release date for Roy after he gets revealed at E3. There's no way Nintendo will put off that long in announcing him. Not only that but I can imagine it being frustrating for Sakurai to attend a concert and the only thing people thinking about is Smash Bros because of him. The guy wants to attend the event as a fan and not trying to plug his own game. Maybe he'll just mention a release date for Roy there but he's not going to make the event all about Smash Bros there.Honestly...I find it more likely Sakurai will say something about Roy in the Fire Emblem Concert in July rather than a digital presentation at E3.
Actually, I feel like they're trying to throw a curve ball at E3. I have this strange feeling that 5 characters were planned independent of the smash ballot which would be Mewtwo, Lucas, Ryu, Roy, and perhaps Wolf. Everybody expects Roy or Ryu, instead it's Wolf. Kinda like a parallel to how Robin, Lucina, and Shulk were announced.
Of course...nobody really knows how many DLC characters are planned independent of the ballot.
On the basis of what? It's only two months from now. Nintendo ignored the Gematsu leaks for months. At best, Sakurai will be there just to announce the final release date for Roy after he gets revealed at E3. There's no way Nintendo will put off that long in announcing him.
What? All I said was that Nintendo would reveal him at a large scale event like E3 instead of a concert that's exclusive to Japan.I'm not even taking leaks in to consideration here. Why they would want to release him at a much smaller event instead I just have no idea.On the basis of what? It's only two months from now. Nintendo ignored the Gematsu leaks for months.
Also, attending as a "fan" is much different than being advertised to present something at the Fire Emblem concert (and Sakurai is the latter): http://operationrainfall.com/2015/04/17/masahiro-sakurai-will-present-fire-emblem-concert/
My reasoning for this is because Pac-Man was revealed behind closed doors instead of on the E3 show floor. I'd expect Roy to get the same treatment if even Pac-Man does too. Oh and remember how Shulk was revealed? On a Japan exclusive Nintendo Direct for the New 3DS. If you only followed news from NA, you'd had no idea Shulk was officially confirmed until media websites announce it.What? What I was trying to get at is Sakurai probably doesn't want Smash assoicated with everything he does. Him being a presenter there doesn't mean he's there to plug Smash. Roy being revealed at E3 would remedy this problem.
True but this is DLC were talking about. Consumers would know about Shulk and Pac-Man when they bought the game (assuming their casual and don't follow news sites). Nintendo would want to let as much people know about DLC because consumers need to know about it otherwise they might not buy it.My reasoning for this is because Pac-Man was revealed behind closed doors instead of on the E3 show floor. It was a very awesome post, and your favorite post with Ike is good too.Looks like I've found my people, hello everyone.

Got everyone to start our boy's chant. Very awesome.
Looks like I got traffic from here when it was posted on this thread. Nice to see all the support for Roy!
Was Shulk a Japanese-exclusive Nintendo Direct reveal, and a highly-wanted Japanese contender? If that's the case, I can totally see Roy (a very highly-wanted Japanese character) getting similar treatment... if only because Sakurai is unpredictable and likes to mix things up.Honestly...I find it more likely Sakurai will say something about Roy in the Fire Emblem Concert in July rather than a digital presentation at E3.

The only difference being that this is DLC and not normal character inclusion. With Shulk, you would easily be able to know that he's in the game by playing the game. With Roy, theirs a possibility many fans will be oblivious to his inclusion if he's revealed at a much smaller scale event like that and is also a wasted opportunity considering 2 Fire Emblem games are going to be shown off at E3.Was Shulk a Japanese-exclusive Nintendo Direct reveal, and a highly-wanted Japanese contender? This is true people didn't even know Mewtwo was DLC even after he came out so they would want to reveal him at a big event so the max amount of people know about him.The only difference being that this is DLC and not normal character inclusion. Mewtwo was revealed in the 50 Fact video. I'd say that's pretty big way to reveal him considering that people thought their would be no DLC in the game. This is true people didn't even know Mewtwo was DLC even after he came out so they would want to reveal him at a big event so the max amount of people know about him.
Thanks! I actually spread a lot of the Roy love on Miiverse. I have several other posts campaigning for Roy's return when the ballot was announced. I've had that Roy persona for a while now too.It was a very awesome post, and your favorite post with Ike is good too.
I think it would put Roy in a really, really good position (I do feel uncomfortable giving anyone a 100% lock). Sakurai has stated in the past that he dislikes having to cut characters, and with Roy being a DLC vet, I will find it odd if he were to be scrapped mid development. But still, I would rather wait until we get an official word.If only Ryu (and maybe some other characters) get revealed at the E3 but not Roy, would you actually think that he's confirmed thanks to the shared leaks?
