It really makes no sense, they had a good turnout for a Sunday. No idea why'd they'd do it on a weeknight. Oh well.

Apparently starting this week, Open World has moved their Smash tournies to Tuesdays, so no more tournies on Sundays... I guess I'll have to get lucky that I get off work somewhat early on Tuesdays if I hope to make these anymore.

Profound sadness...
Don't worry, I'll go and take all their money for u.

Gabe went in the corner to be surrounded by his posse. Jnig 3 stocked him. Gabe is only a small step better than I am, so in short, 3 stocked like Jnig was playing blindfolded.

Also Brawl is back on Sundays.

Everybody was rolling all day, c-stick only, no tilts, as I said in my tweet, other than Brawlman, everyone I played got either 3 stocked or JV 3 stocked. My matches with Brawlman, I had to start on his CP, then play on Yoshi's, which I always ban, THEN we played on Smashville. We had to play in WSF since they made the bracket by putting names down as they signed up, so Bomber and Brawlman, in an 18 man bracket, did not get 1st round byes since they were the last two, thank GOD they didn't have to play each other 1st round too.

It's a good thing that I played Brawlman before I played Gabe in WF. Sure we each bodied all of our opponents beforehand, but our match being close made their "best" think that maybe we weren't that good, so that set up my match with Gabe. Gabe went Marth first, I JV 3 stocked that. A crowd started to gather. Then he went Snake... tsk tsk tsk. I ate his cypher twice for the 3 stock. No remorse from me. Everyone was speechless as Brawlman, Bomber, and I had smiles painted across our faces. Shortly after his defeat to Brawlman, he and most of his posse left.

As far as metagame knowledge goes, none of them really knew much of anything. There was a Wolf that abused the HELL out of his shine invincibility, and Gabe had decent reactions at some points. Other than that, it was "spam what works and panic if it doesn't." No real matchup knowledge, therefore no matchup experience, and that left only bodybags.

This sounds hilarious, I wish I could have been there to see everyones faces. Sounds like they built this Gabe guy up to be a God and when he got blown out the water no one knew how to react lol.

And Okuser, you play League of Legends?

And if we're asking Okuser questions here then let me get one in too: If I text you a Northern LA smash related question will you answer?

He does, hence his avatar. There's also a SWF LoL chat group I'd recommend joining if you're serious about the game. There's plenty of people who you could play with and talk to to get better.

Yeah, I saw his avatar and that made me think he played. Sweet, I'm definitely gonna join that group. I just started playing about a month and a half ago so I'm not level 30 yet (lvl 22), but definitely wanna get better. You play Dom?

I play on occasion, and by occasion, I mean when people I know play let me know they want me to play with them, or I'm that bored. Otherwise, you'll find me playing Guild Wars (2), Bad Company 2, minecraft, or something else. For main reasons that the people who I play those games with don't act like total pricks when something bad happens, Unlike LoL. and Smash

Yeah I will agree at times I end up not playing simply because I don't want to have to deal with the people who I get matched with.

LoL is the only game I know of where you can get reported for being bad at the game but people hide behind the charge of "feeding". That I find immature, have seen people abuse it so many time, so I try not to play as much. Plus I think I just scare away people with my Bruiser Pantheon.

Edit: Also, now is a REALLY bad time to try and play LoL. My internet connection has been really ****ty to me the past week. I disconnect from my online games every 5-10 minutes. It's no fun. Makes playing GW2 a pain when I'm trying to play through some tough story mode quests. Hard to believe I haven't rage quit yet.

I don't run in to nearly as many ragers or trolls as people like to claim they do. Like, I literally have 1 rager/troll every 15-20 games? Don't see why people complain about that when you're bound to run in to a lot more in other pvp games.

I didn't own a mic when I played MvC3, but if I did, a lot of people would have learned very interesting mixtures of profanities. That game enraged me more than anything in which I've ever taken part. Online friendlies, and people are still playing like every match was a GF.

I somewhat agree with Sudai, except for with me when I do run into trolls they come in a wave, like I'll have them in 3-4 consecutive games. Then they'll go MIA for a couple of days and then the same thing will happen. It'll probably get even worse whenever I begin playing ranked one day, there are probably people who level up to 30 just to play ranked and troll.

The most important thing I've learned though is that there is more to carrying a game than just your score, and that's something that I find a lot of people around my level don't get yet.

That carries over into other co-op games as well. I've had plenty of party members in WoW that believe the only way to contribute to the party is DPS or burst damage. As a lifelong tank, it's something I understand too well.

idk why you would say league is a p2w game. on my main acc i have every rune and every champ ive ever wanted. granted, im 2.5k games deep, but still. you also need a good number of games (not necessarily that many) to get decent at it so if you bought all your champs (and you cant even buy runes) youre just bad with worse chances of getting someone you know how to play in aram.. although, LoL isnt really hard. i mean seriously. sc and sc2. wtf skill.

i also must have the worst luck with asshole players ever. i have at least one asshole teammate in 4/5 games we are losing, and 1/2 of the games we're winning. which is almost 3/4 of all games. (normal and ranked, not aram)

Taylor doesn't say anything about compensation for bringing setups in the thread. Last tourney he waived the venue fee for bringing setups but that was just an incentive to bring setups and he didn't actually charge any venue fee. People should still bring setups anyway though as it just makes the tourney run better. POWER STRIPS PEOPLE.

Also, RONI is randomly coming.

This is exactly what I was getting at^

There's no venue fee and the tournaments are cheap already. I'm sure he could let someone enter stuff for free if he wanted, but people can just bring setups to play the games because they WANT TO PLAY. Other incentives are nice, but I always bring all my gear to every tournament just to help out.

I'm going to keep that in mind when people challenge me about people bringing set-ups. Because when I say it, it carries no weight and you guys look at me like I'm some demanding asshole. So just make sure you guys hold me to the same standard as Taylor when I say I need set-ups, and you support me when I ask for cooperation for my events.

Otherwise, you guys are just bias frauds. :)

the difference is that i dont charge venue fees and i make no money off the tournament, all while running the risk of having my own stuff stolen. if i was going to charge a venue fee for a free venue and say something about how i was going to use the money to make the community better blah blah i would be a fraud, but i would still waive the venue fee for anyone who brought set ups and helped the tournament run smoother. but i dont do that.

tl:dr, people actually respect me.

Maybe it is because the Melee guys are super legit and the Brawl guys are lazy? I do the same for every tournament I attend and advocate people do the same every time. There are two interesting differences here though: no venue fee because it is at Taylor's house and the tournaments are shockingly cheap to enter. You want to save yourself 2 or 3 bucks by bringing a setup? I'm sure he can oblige, but you probably should stay home if you're that cheap about going. That's just my thoughts on the matter/this tournament.

And I am biased towards Taylor, if anything, because Taylor doesn't make stupid decisions.

That's all I have to say on the matter. Taylor is running the tourney so he can do as he pleases. /f*yeah

I don't charge venue fees at my events. Smashcon conventions are the only events that actually have a venue fee and the profit that is made goes back into the system to benefit YOU PLAYERS. You guys view profit as something evil and that shouldn't be made. You guys don't grasp the concept that nothing in this world comes free. Smashcon has goals to make events bigger, better, and something that even you guys would be proud of, but it takes money. The money you guys contribute for the venue fee at the conventions is helping Smashcon take more steps towards those goals. Smashcon has not once abused or misused the profit made. I don't know what rumors you guys have spread between one another about what smashcon does with its money, I don't know what you guys even think Smashcon does with its money, but I can assure you, it's spent 100% for the events that are hosted which benefit you.

tl;dr you guys come up with unsupported claims and the rest of gullible people go along with it.

@XKCP- Stupid decisions? You got proof to back this up? And you don't have to play brawl to promote a local TO's event. I offer to host Melee as well, but you guys want nothing to do with it. You call Brawl players lazy? Melee players are just as guilty.

And I believe the only reason some of you guys don't like me or are bold enough to say "not respect" me is because I'm not afraid to disagree with you guys or call you out when you're wrong.

I think it has more to do with the Melee players being more willing to bring set-ups on the regular. Its something that's always happened with no need for incentive. I know quite a number of people that always keep a set up chilling in their car on a regular basis, then pile in more stuff for tournies. Where as Brawl players have typically had set-ups handed to them. When I went to Brawl tournies it was always the old melee players bringing in set-ups so I think they just kind of got used to not having to bring them and are stuck in the mindset of "oh, someone else will take care of it."

It's funny you mention that, I think it's been, what 2 years or so since the last of the old Melee players quit Brawl? It's like two years of preaching to Brawl players that set-ups need to be brought hasn't really sunk in. There's no desire to hype an event, it's strictly, show up, mercilessly beat the crap out of everyone, take their money and go. There's no sense of community. At least Melee players show it when there's an event. The Brawl players who have been posting on swf for years lack responsibility. They expect to be babied. It's the biggest issue. There's really hardly any respect for the common Brawl TO right now. The best part is, without the current TO's sacrificing their time to host theses event's there'd be zero activity for Brawl, and I don't see anyone stepping up to run events to keep the brawl scene alive. I know I don't always see eye to eye with everyone who considers themself a brawl player, but I know I've done a lot more than those who constantly complain about what I do, for the community.

Outside of that, I was just conveying issues which I've noticed about behavior among players, and how treatment is clearly bias or otherwise outright unreasonable unfair, and how broken up this community is, at least on this thread. There is no doubt, Brawl players should be modeling their habits after melee players in the sense that they will hype events hosted for their game, they actually take an interest, get involved, try to develop some sort of community (and unity), bringing in new players, working to help each other improve, start rivalries, show up on time to events, bring set-ups, the list goes on and on but it falls under cooperation. I'm not pointing fingers at the Melee community, or the brawl community as a whole, I'm just fed up with the attitudes of the people who post in this thread who just so happen to play either melee, brawl, or 64. They know who they are, I don't need to point them out by name.

When I did my tournies, I always had at least 2 power strips and a Wii with Brawl, and it's very rare that I don't bring at least a Wii to an event. I couldn't scrounge up a TV back then, but I did what I could.

You are the biggest scrub I have ever seen in my life. I worked with Erick on SmashCon before you and he still fills me in on details about what goes down because he values my decisions and input when it comes to running tournaments. I know more about SmashCon than he will ever tell you so you can shut your mouth and listen when I'm talking.

You make clearly, obvious stupid decisions every day of your life. I've hung out with you and dealt with your idiocy long enough to know this. You have made plans to go to WHOBO 5 and MM for $1000 without having made arrangement to go to the damn tournament yet. WHO DOES THAT? Morons do. I don't have any clue why Airbrush entertains your BS because all that comes of it is hype that can fall through at any moment when you decide to back out. You basically came begging to us on the 64 FB page about how you can't make it to WHOBO without a cheap hotel room split and a ride from somebody else. You know how much ****s I give about you going? NONE, and I'm doing you a favor. You will lose most of your money even if you train your ass off. Do you even play Brawl? Two of those guys are NATIONAL LEVEL CHAMPIONS at the game; I know this fact and I don't play Brawl. Keep talking out of your ass to everyone, but don't bother talking to me because you'll regret it. I know better than you when it comes to everything to do with Smash and being a grown-ass man so, once again, sit down and shut up. On top of that, stop reading between the lines and making **** up - people dislike you because you're full of crap and Melee players are insanely trustworthy at bringing setups and showing up to events when they want to do so. They don't want your half-assed efforts. They want Taylor to run tournaments, someone who gives them what they want without all that BS you put out. /rant
