Well. I stayed up all night and left in the early AM to make it to the tournament on time...with low expectations. Made it in about 4.5 hours due to a 1 lane on I-12. No problems though, because I was only feeling a little groggy at that point. Then I get inside and see a SEA of people ****ing everywhere. I figure it's just the Yu-gi-oh players...BUT NO. They were there for smash. How exciting. Started playing some of the players I didn't recognize, and they honestly weren't bad at all. So we start Brawl singles with 16 entrants (as many as WINTERCON lol) and things get hype fast. I gave everyone I played a super close match, except for the Rob player. He actually almost beat me lol. I was soooo scared I wasn't going to get to play Mar... But anyway. I got to my match with JNig and match 2 we were both high % on our second stock and all of the setups lose power and we had to start over. Oh well.
While our match was going on, we hear Brawlman cry out "I FINALLY TOOK A MATCH OFF MAR" and with marth too. Game 2 was a solid 2 stock if I remember correctly. Props to Brawlman, your marth is godlike.
So then comes me Vs Mar. What a match that was. I must've been at 190+% like 4-5 times that set because my DI is on a whole different level. I even surprised myself with what I lived (Dsmash at 145, utilt ON THE SV PLATFORM at 150). Tldr on that set, I lost my momentum game 3 and couldn't quite get it back. Very fun, hype set though.
Next was WFs. Brawlman put on a pretty damn good show against JNig. We all laughed our asses off at sonic's invincibility on 2 matches of Yoshi's. 9/10 would watch the video of that several times.
Then Brawlman vs Mar.... a 3/5 that opened with a marth ditto. hoolllllly **** brawlman exposed mar's marth. I dunno how much brawlman trains that marth, but it's so ****ing good. That set (LF) ends 3-1 Brawlman.
Lastly Grand finals. I believe that set ended 3-1 JNig, with Brawlman going mostly marth. All hype, all amazing to watch. But I'm tired of typing play by play...
We did some money matches before I left around 4 pm, but I won't get into that. By this point I've been awake over 24 hours and I'm starting to get realllly tired. I sit through more traffic on the way back on I-12, and get on my way back to Shreveport. I had to stop twice because I was falling asleep, but no worries. I finally get within about 8 miles of my house, at about midnight, and I RUN OUT OF GAS. And my family doesn't answer their phones. So I'm ****ing stranded. I had to sit there for 2.5 hours before a cop finally rolls by and takes me to a place I can buy a gas can. I didn't get home and in bed until almost 4 AM, and I had been up 40 hours at that point. And here I am. I just woke up, ate some pizza, and made this post. What a ****ing trip.
Anyway, tl:dr: Amazing tournament, our top players are very very close in skill now. I can't wait to see how Hobo goes (All of you NEED to come). GGS, not proofreading this ****
