That's good to hear! Theres actually a lot of games I want to get that's coming to the switch but they're kinda expensive oofy. I didn't really know what to expect, though the stream I watched with etika was quite the ride
That reminds me that Octopath is coming soon and Skullgirls just got announced for the Switch AND I still have to buy Warioware Gold too. I know this a drought year overall for the Switch but I won't be bored waiting for Ultimate.

So, to start a conversion, what did everyone expect from Nintendo/smash bros at E3? What do you expect/hope to see in the future besides Ashley?
At E3? I expected a playable build with at least a couple of new characters announced. I knew we would see proper footage of the Inkling, a new character reveal beyond Inkling, the return of Ice Climbers, and finally a sort of highlight reel similar to past Smash games that introduced the standard fare of returning veterans. I also thought that we might see that reel include a couple of newcomers like Brawl's intro video did. As soon as I saw Falco in said trailer, I was suspicious, but glad they seemed to be including more veterans from the get go. By the time the everyone is here tag came in I was expecting Smash 4's roster to fully return. And everyone is here seals that deal.

What do I expect from the future. A handful of newcomer reveals, assist trophy reveals, stage reveals, and probably another Smash-centric Direct that will discuss the modes in the game. I also mostly suspect content from Smash for Wii U to return, including all of the stages from that version minus Miiverse and maybe Pyrosphere (as easy as that stage would be to rework). That's really all I can say I expect in all honesty. I'd like to say that King K. Rool, Bandanna Dee, and Ashley are locks for this Smash given how popular they are and are all bigger name characters that earn points for recognition, but even that I'm not certain of.

Hope? Classic Mode more similar to the 3DS version returning, alongside more mini-game focused content like Break the Targets and Board the Platforms, Event Matches that rival Melee in terms of challenge and enjoyment (There better be one that involves Inklings and Mario's FLUDD is all I'm saying, if you're going to keep him, you better make damn sure to use him right). A single player component that involves enemies like Smash Run or Melee's Adventure Mode. At least something of the sort that is single player focused if we're not going to get a major story mode ever again. No more buying trophies from a store (That always took something away from the fun of unlocking trophies for me). Better menus, with more customization options (Sort characters by tab, presets for Smash on boot, etc.).

Which is to say nothing of characters. If I could get King K. Rool, Geno, Isaac, Ashley, Chibi-Robo, and Simon Belmont in one game I'd never really need another Smash game again. Those are my dream 6, and really the first four would be enough for me as well. Ashley and King K. Rool have the best chances of those characters at least, with Geno possibly right behind and Simon Belmont sort of an unknown quantity at this point.

So, to start a conversion, what did everyone expect from Nintendo/smash bros at E3? What do you expect/hope to see in the future besides Ashley?
The only thing I went into the E3 presentation expecting was Super Smash Bros. and Fire Emblem. For Smash specifically, I didn't know what to expect. Beforehand, I thought that they would have at least 2 new character reveals, one of them third party. I also thought that if there was no new third party, they would have to have a highly requested first party character to get people hype, the only ones I could think of at the time being Ridley and Isaac (now I know K. Rool is one highly requested one too). However, I threw all my thoughts out the window and went with a "I have no idea who we're getting" mentality, which I'm glad I did. (TBH, I still kind of have that mentality.) As it turns out, we wound up getting every character returning (including Snake) as well as Daisy and Ridley, so I think the Direct did a good job of getting people (myself included) excited.

And then of course as a Fire Emblem fan, I was happy to finally see Three Houses shown off. It's unfortunate that it got delayed to next year, but it is what it is.

As for characters other than Ashley? I don't really have too many on my wishlist that have a realistic chance. (They are mostly third-party characters.) I think a new Xenoblade character would be really cool, regardless of it is Elma or Rex & Pyra. A Rhythm Heaven character is one I think is long overdue IMO. I'd like to see Isaac and K. Rool in, even though I haven't played the games they are from. And with echo fighters being a thing, I like the ideas that are being thrown around like Chrom and Shadow. But as I've said before, Ashley is at the top of my wish list for realistic fighters.

Besides Smash and Three Houses, I'm very much looking forward to TWEWY: Final Remix. TWEWY is my favorite DS game, so to see an HD version of it with a new campaign after all these years is really cool. I'm also glad that a new generation will get to experience it because of this. I was disappointed that it wasn't a part of Nintendo Treehouse Live though (it's being published by Nintendo in America), and there was only a release window given, so I hope there's an actual release date announced soon.

Sorry if this is a bit long. :/

Oh yeah, Three Houses. I don't know what to think of that game. The trailer honestly did not capture me which sucks because I love FE. I'm sure it'll be alright tho.

Assuming there's a new story mode like the subspace emissary, what role would you like Ashley to have? What team ups?
I know Ashley and Bayonetta are a popular pair, but maybe she could meet up with Ness or Lucas? It'd be cute to see her make friends with magic kids her own age! She could show Robin who the REAL mage is! She and Inkling could form a killer team of teenage girls!
The possibilities are endless!

Luigi. Ashley would be intrigued why the undead are lingering around him. She would insist that he become a test subject of hers.

Definitely Mario Robin.
Or maybe Luigi, what with him having history with haunted mansions and all.
(I really want Ashley's reveal trailer to tie-in with Luigi's Mansion.)

And everyone wonders why Luigi's so afraid of a small girl.
Little do they know...

I've always thought Luigi and Ashley would be a fun dynamic. Like a Wreck-it Ralph and Vanellope kinda thing.

Basically all of those pairing I would love. Maybe she could see her extended family in the Mario cast; Luigi already seems to be a popular companion for her.

I think if some spooky Taboo stuff came back and was threatening all of the Nintendo worlds, she would be the protector of Diamond City (at the behest of Wario who is charging 100 coins a head to stay at her mansion). I think that would be fun since not only would Ashley would have a chance to become popular, she would truly test her capabilities as a witch. So I guess the most cohesive team I would have for her in this scenario is Wario, Luigi, Simon Belmont, and I guess Bayonetta.

I want a real Classic mode back. I'd like Melee's Adventure mode back. I saw a 4chan "leak" today talking about some kind of mode known as "Classic Plus" but of course the guy never went into what it actually is. I just want more 1P modes and for the love of all that is holy, get rid of Smash Tour.

Actually I thought bayo and her were really cool. I like the idea of her interacting with the other kid characters. Idk why but for some reason I'd find it cute if she interacts with a Kirby character or pokemon

Does anyone have any cool matchups of any character that you'd like to see in a new story mode?

Like fights? If they kept Wario evil, then Ashley vs him would be a sight to see. Oh god what if they make Ashley evil?

Regardless of her fascination with the dark arts and the eldritch, Ashley is probably the most neutral person you will ever meet. Her first appearance was the closest to being ''villainous'' (not that Orbulon is that nice in the first place) what with having no compunctions against tossing sentient beings into her potions, but ever since she has just kept to herself, neither helping nor hindering anyone. Though it doesn't hurt that the ''demonic'' creatures and objects she hangs out with are honestly pretty nice. That skull book thing in Smooth Moves pretty much just helped complete her spell, with no strings attached! So I'd imagine she wouldn't mind being friendly with anyone that is nice to her. I think Dr. Coyle is far more likely for a female antagonist (though even she isn't that evil, just misguided).

Does anyone have any cool matchups of any character that you'd like to see in a new story mode?
:ultridley: vs. :ultlucas: or:ultlucina:, with Ridley taunting them over their dead parents, noting a look in their eyes he sees in Samus.
:ultmegaman: & :ultrob: quietly reflecting on the latter's loss.
:ultlink: with, well any other Zelda character just for the bafflement of seeing different versions of himself, Zelda and Ganon.
:ultryu: & :ultmetaknight: pontificating about the meaning of the fight.
:ultshulk: (or even better, Rex & Pyra/Mythra) & :ultpalutena: debating the merits of godlihood. :ultike: could join too.

I've already mentioned Ashley having possible synergy with Dark Pit, Bayonetta, Ridley and Luigi, but I realized Mewtwo could work as well, two beings who prefer to spend their time away from others for their own reasons. Though their first meeting would probably have her confuse him for an alien like Orbulon, causing his temper and powers to flare momentarily and giving her something of a taste of her own medicine.

Um did Falco got in Melee because he's a fan favorite or his importance?
Falco's part of Star Fox, this gives him access to Star Fox equipment and training, ergo plausible clone of Fox, ergo easy inclusion.

Oh yeah Ashley is very neutral, but that doesn't stop Smash from switching up the personalities. They turned Wario into a frickin monster in Brawl for example. It wouldn't be that much of a stretch to do the same for Ashley.

How many of you hope for Ashley versus how many of you expect Ashley?
The main reason why I want Ashley in smash because she'll be the Tessa it was too bad the Tess was not in MVCTrash not calling Infinite. I also like her design and love her red eyes I hope we get that Ashley not the Toon Version.
Ashley Chance45% Want95% gotta be real here.

You know, with friends, I've made a suggestion for one of the cutscenes in a potential story mode being Kirby and Bayonetta teaming up to fight Kraid. It looks so beautiful in my mind.

Well I said a few pages back that I think she has a 50/50 shot of getting in, so... I guess it's 50% hope and 50% expect? (Unless I am misunderstanding this. Are you asking this as one percentage between both want and expect?

At this point I kind of expect her, but I guess I should probably bring my expectations down. I feel like K Rool is the only real lock this time around with his worldwide popularity. The only other character I expect besides them is a rhythm rep, and maybe Bandana Dee.

I'm excited to see what Snake and his support team have to say about everyone that wasn't in Brawl, especially Ashley of course.

Snake: Otacon, there's a girl in a witch costume here, is she one of the ones I'm supposed to be fighting?
Otacon: Yep! And you better know her name, cuz it's Ah~Ashley!
S: Never speak like that again.
O: Hey, it's not my fault the song is so catchy! Anyway, you definitely do need to look out for her. She may just be a witch-in-training, but she wields powerful magic.
S: Oh great, more spells.
O: Now isn't the best time for skepticism. Ashley isn't really evil, but if you cross her she won't hesitate to turn you into a spoon, send you to a dark dimension, or any other manner of nasty things.
S: "Not really evil." Right...
O: Well, people do say that deep down she just wants more friends. Don't hurt her too much, okay Snake?

So, to start a conversion, what did everyone expect from Nintendo/smash bros at E3? What do you expect/hope to see in the future besides Ashley?
I was a big believer in the Ridley Rumors, so I was fully expecting him. I got that and a confirmation of no cuts. It was great. Now that that 17 year desire is out of the way, I've finally put some effort into actively supporting more characters than Ridley. K. Rool is my most wanted at the moment, but Ashley is right behind him followed by Shantae and Vaati.
