You just have to rise above it boy-o. Set your own standards and don't let others corrupt you. As a scientist, you should remember the words of Gandhi, live everyday as if it were your last and learn as if you could live forever. Really, that's a essentially what being a scientist is about: learning for the sake of learning and obtaining new information. You don't have to do for any other reason except for the satisfaction of your own curiousity. Still, in the end, don't put bookends on your life, that just leads to miserbable people in general.

I guess that's true, but I'm pursuing stem cell research for a personal research. If I ever get the breakthrough I want with that, then I'll move on.
