into taking over this thread for Tomato Kirby, and I accepted.

However, I am going to be running this thread a little bit differently, and it should be much simpler, easier, and faster. Especially on me ^_^

Here is how it's going to work. Rather than updating the OP every single time somebody makes a post, I am going to mostly post links to posts in this Original Post.

This thread formerly had a bunch of broken links and outdated videos here, since updating this post to account for all the new videos and the broken old ones took a ridiculous amount of work.

So instead, I will ask that YOU choose ONE POST in which you post all your videos in whatever format you see fit.

I will list the names of users in alphabetical order, along with links to THAT post in this post.

Hopefully you all understand what I'm talking about, and agree this is an easier way to do things. This should be much more organized and efficient.

TL;DR version: if your vids aren't getting updated, then it's your fault! No johns.

West (Kirby) vs. Aznmaster (Olimar) I won, not a terribly entertaining match, until I gimp him twice in the last 20 seconds.

I went to my first tourney today, and I didn't win, though I think I impressed people with my Kirby. They definitely had some "wtf" moments. I played against some of the best players in the midwest, and some of the best on this site. Sadly, I don't think any of my matches were recorded. : (

Oh, by the way, do you think I should get some more movies, this time having tourney settings turned on? Because i'm not sure if those matches I have show my skills with kirby. Are they good enough?

If so what exactly are the tourney settings? Cause most of the time I play for fun as you can see from my videos.

Rules
-- Best 2/3 (Finals 3/5)
-- 3 stock
-- 7:00 Time Limit
-- Ties broken by lives, then percentage.
-- Double Elimination (Unless entrants exceed 64, in which we WILL do pools to bracket)
-- First Stage is either agreed upon or random (Neutrals) after the initial selection of characters.
-- Stage Strike: Each person strikes one stage for the entire set. This stage must be selected at the beginning of the match, after initial characters have been chosen.
-- Dave's Stupid Rule: No stage may be picked twice if the choosing player has already won on that stage.
-- Advanced Slob Picks: Loser may choose the next stage or elect to go random, then winner may choose to change characters, then loser may change characters.
-- Double Blind Character pick may be called at the beginning of every set.
-- Team Attack ON
-- Life Stealing allowed

-- 4 Neutrals: Battlefield, Final Destination, Smashville, Yoshi's Story

True story. And I don't think my camera can record longer than 3 minutes, since it's mostly designed for pictures. Unless I buy a bigger memory card, maybe. Anyway, I can possibly have my brother record, and use Windows Movie Maker (which I just discovered today that I have o_O) to link it together.

I blame lag! No not really, but it would definitely be fun (and probably very close matches) if we were to play offline. I hope he recorded them, some of them were very good. Being killed on the last stock by the explosive thing on Halberd was ******** though...I didn't know the blast radius was THAT big.

It DOES suck though playing on wifi, when you're thinking to yourself half the time: "that's not the move I meant to do!"

Okay, so, those matches of me vs. whoever I played... They all suck. We should take them down, and put up good ones that are in high quality and look pretty and stuff! I guess I'll start recording again, and find some opponents to play. If I'm lucky, Tapion will let me record his Snake! I can get videos vs. other good people, too, so just gimme the word and I'll record.

I need to see videos of good Kirby's like you take down good Snakes, and ROB's too. Those 2 guys are my hardest match ups since they are so hard to approach especially on wifi.

I also have 2 more videos in the works. Its mainly Kirby vs Ike. Most of my friends play Ike against me on wifi, but I still manage to win. So hopefully I'll contribute to somebody's learning process with Kirby.

The Good
I think you and Wafles seem to jump-cancel u-smash.

The Bad
No offense; neither you or your opponent seem to be good with your character. Of course, you are new to Kirby, so it is expected that you not know every detail. I will provide a list of flaws in no particular order:

Pointless hovering over stage...you float too high and set yourself up to be juggled. If you got hit off the stage, you have fewer jumps.
Improve short-hopping...it must be done on a more consistent basis.
D-air execution too far above stage...it is best ledge-hopped or for edge-guarding.
Final Cutter on stage spam... you become jump-cancel u-smash fodder.
Using moves when far away...creating self-lag.
Human input lag for aerial after jumping...your aerials take a LONG time to come out after jumping.
Out of shield b-air...missed some opportunities.
No aerial DI...self-explanatory.
F-smash spammer...you become shield-grab fodder.
Stone on stage too high...easy to see coming and easy to punish. Every Stone must count if on offense, or used as vertical downward recovery.
Gonzo combo (f-throw to u-air) at low percents...better than d-throw to u-tilt against Yoshi (I think).
Inhale on middle of stage...wrong time to use it.
Rolling for spacing...bad habit...non-invincible lag at the end and easy to punish.

Edge-guarding against Yoshi...Hmmm...I suggest hugging (drop off stage, point control stick to ledge for instant edge-hog) and predicting where Yoshi will land. I cannot comment on edge-guarding other than that due to Yoshi's second-jump invincibility.

No comment on Swallowciding due to no use.


What can you do about it?
Your Kirby needs practice everywhere.

Drop these habits:
1. Jumping more than once on-stage (to do it more is a high-risk low-profit fake-out).
2. Rolling for spacing...try a retreating b-air.
3. Final Cutter spam
4. F-smash spam

Start doing these:
1. Short-hop improvement...refer to the Kirby Help Desk FAQ sticky for tips on short-hopping (under Miscellaneous).
2. Gonzo Combo
3. Aerial DI...start using the c-stick for aerials so you can use the control stick to DI the move. An example is retreating b-air.
4. U-tilt, or out of shield b-air more (jump when holding shield and execute an aerial).
5. Reduce your lag on inputting an aerial attack command after jumping

Wall trap to Reaper Combo (u-tilt to u-tilt) 1:55 second video.


Do not worry: every smasher has to start somewhere. Follow this advice and you will see rapid improvement with your Kirby.
