Of course they'd only want to print one box for every market, but there's something strange about seeing a Dragon Quest game's official English subtitle (which isn't even a translation of the Japanese title, and has only been used for the mobile version) so prominent on a toy that'll mostly be bought by Japanese fans.

Regarding DQ11S, do you guys think there will be new party members? Since DQ8 on 3DS added Red and Morrie as party members, it got me thinking maybe they could do the same for DQ11S.

I hope so. But they didn't announce it when they had the chance in the direct. Then again there's supposed to be more news about it sometime, so who knows.
DQ11 has more than 8 did though, so it's not quite as big a thing.

Still hoping there's a direct this month. It'd be cool if it was before dragon quest day, because then there'd be more attention for it, and people could learn a little more about the games, if there's some kind of presentation.

This is actually quite nice, hope it means that they plan to continue giving attention to the west. I hope it pays off, so we'll be able to play pretty much every DQ game that is released in the future.

Well it's strange V added best girl (Deborah), IV added a party member for an extra dungeon and like you said VIII added 2 extra members. But other than that VI and VII didn't add anyone, so it remains to be seen. From what I played its difficult to think on a character that could be added from the current story. Maybe an original one or a guest.

Cool, didn't know Deborah was added later. Guess that explains why only Nera and Bianca appear in the movie. Too bad, but understandable. This only supports my theory that they're aiming for worldwide appeal with this movie, because a character like Deborah is maybe too anime-ish?

Most of the popular candidates wouldn't have the opportunity to join until very late in the story, even compared to when Red joins in VIII 3DS, and it'd be awkward to market them as new content without giving too much of the story away. It does feel like some kind of major feature is left to be revealed before XI S comes out, though, so who knows.

I think.. well... thought she could be left out because of her personality (although now that I think of it, it shouldn't be anything out of the ordinary, I was thinking her being tsundere, which is what I meant by "anime", but now that I think about it, that doesn't encompass Deborah at all. Western animated films have had bossy female characters just fine, so I guess I made a bad example here).

Maybe it's both purism, and the fact that Deborah as a character (prior to the wedding) really doesn't add much to the story. She's just there, suddenly throwing in a sassy remark, and storming off to her room. I guess wanting to know more about the character is what made me choose her in the first place. But like I was saying, before the wedding scene, she doesn't really seem too important. Heck, she isn't even "qualified" to marry Madason, in her father's eyes because of her attitude.

So to spend any sort of screen time on her, was probably not going to be a good idea (especially with just how HUGE the story of DQ5 is. Every scene will count).

That's my reasoning.... Although I do wish to have her, at least in the background.

Mia: I'm hoping in the post game they actually open up with the other characters fates more openly. What I disliked about the post game was how most of the stuff in Part 2 you do end up doing to, but there was no incentive in actually telling you its possible. You kind of just go out of your way to experience it out of curiosity. That said, I think Mia would also be cool to play.

Gemma: Just have her playable, period. I just hate that she was benched and she was the only person you could marry in the base game. At least make me care for her rofl.

Another one I'm gonna add is Prince Faris: Wouldn't be a bad idea at all to have him there since he does go through a form of character development.

All of this together leads to bout 11 characters in your party. Tbh I wouldn't really mind if they weren't playable anyways, since the 8 characters we have is already enough as it is. But more development on some (Gemma) would be greatly appreciated.

Umm.. that'd be because of a problem with the forum (since an update) and workarounds around changing the user of the OP

It's crazy popular in japan, and no one can deny that. I think Dragon Quest is popular enough in the west, even if not at the level of the big ones.
As far as characters go, any 1 DQ character except slime probably doesn't have any bandwagon behind, but I dont think that's what matters most. It's a great series, so why not.

Erdrick was one of those characters that I thought would have never had a chance until after brawl but now he's fare game he's one of those you wanted this but you didn't know kinda characters like joker for me at least also most geno and sora fans have been rude to us first

Now talking seriously, It really worth the wait. It looks fantastic and make me really happy. I'm pretty excited(even though it looks like to be for PS5). This and seeing Narga back in action in Monster Hunter World make this PlayStation Direct worth watching :3

I know, but can't fully trust, something is telling me that this game is looking too good to be this generation xD But still hoping to it come to PS4 next year.
Would be nice if we can choose which party member we could play at the time as there is a moment in the story for each one of they :3
The fight style looks like a evolution from FFXV and looks like they give even more freedom to the play, make it look more like a full action RPG(but it still have turn-based elements if you look closely, and I love that in FF xD).

Tho also the total votes is 1394 which isn't super high, but still something. Dragon quest hero is in 3rd place. It shows the DQ1 hero, but i think it's for DQ in general.

Yup, it just says "Yuusha". Safe to assume it's a general spot for any DQ hero.

I'm not sure what you mean. If you mean who they want vs who they predict, then yes this one said 'expectation', so it's who they think could be in.
