One month later:
February 3rd, Noon
Antonio Bay Memorial Park
Nick Castle, Father Malone, Stevie Wayne, Dan O'Bannon, Kathy Williams, Omelito Fadel, Sandy Fadel, Marcus Rivers, Enmin Cress, Daniel Phibes, and Sheriff Grizzwald all gather at Memorial Park in recognition of the tribulations their town experienced one month ago.
Stevie and Danny Phibes help Sandy Fadel unveil her newly cast and erected statues of Antonio Bay's fallen heroes. Full size statues of Sheriff David Simms, arms crossed in front on him, Dr. Hal Phibes, one hand in pocket and the other framing his chin, Art Laugher, hand on his holster, and Dale Smitty, sporting his eternal smile, all stand together in front of the memorial statue. The town applauds their resemblances and waits in remembrance of their heroics.
Stevie Wayne and Dan O'Bannon make their way to the front of the crowd. On her way to the memorial statue, Stevie hugs the newly reunited Fadel family, comforts the troubled Marcus Rivers, smiles to Danny and his new canine companion, and shakes Grizzwald's hand.
"You have some big shoes to fill, Sheriff," Stevie smiles as she demands the attention of the crowd. "I'm sure you won't let us down. We all have some big shoes to fill, some rebuilding to finish. I'm proud of us; proud of the houses we've already finished rebuilding, proud of the way our town is looking the way it is, the way it should.
"We gather here to honor those that have passed so that we can continue. The four men you see cast in front of you are surely our heroes. Each one of them sacrificed their lives to protect us. Dale Smitty was young, and had a whole life of success and happiness ahead of him, but when he was put in an unspeakable situation, he made the decision to sacrifice himself to protect all of us. We didn't deserve his kindness, but he still gave his life. Art Laugher made a personal commitment to seek peace in his life, and he will always be remembered as a hero. Sheriff Simms always kept everyone's' safety in mind, even when I didn't. He protected us, he made sure we were represented, and he lost his life keeping us organized and on track. And Dr. Hal Phibes proved to be a great friend... and the heart of this town. He single-handedly took on the trouble and pain of this town, made it his mission to defend us, brought us together to investigate what was happening, and courageously sacrificed himself to ensure that the maligned spirits of this town did not achieve their sinister objectives.
"In the conclusion of the events that took place here... nobody won. We all lost. We will not dare sully the memories of Eric Waterman, Anthony Song, or Micky Ashcroft. The acts they committed were not their own, but the will of angered memories of their ancestors. What happened here is not the fault of the military. It is not the fault of project RAINBOW, and it is not the fault of our fallen townspeople. It was the actions of our ancestors, crooked and condemnable, in the founding of our town, that are to blame, and we have paid for their transgressions.
"It's easy to be angry. It's easy to want revenge against the military, but we can't pull that trigger. We have to follow the pattern of Danny Phibes, who put aside his fear and anger and wrath, and spared the life of the ones who took his brother from us. I would surely have exacted my revenge if I had not seen his forgiving kindness. It is in that spirit that we continue to come together and rebuild our town.
"Many of us lost everything that we had -- our possessions, our houses, our businesses, our friends, our only family. We have to be here for each other, and we have to put this all behind us. Remember those we lost how you want to, honor their memories every night, and never forget what happened here... but we must move on. We will rebuild Antonio Bay, we will live our lives, and if anything of this sort haunts our town again, we will be ready."
