Since when the **** has gaming - OR THIS COMMUNITIES MIND SET become about contracts and becoming an ultra progamer?
You play ****ing Super Smash Bros. This isn't CS 1.6 at WCG , this isn't Street Fighter or Quake. This is SSBB. The smash community has been formed around having fun and tournaments were about getting together to play a game you find enjoyable with friends and possibly winning money ontop of bragging rights. I don't know where this mentality of having to become a star where people will hear your name and cream their pants has become so important.
Sure MLG was a great opportunity to expand the game's fanbase and show people another side to the game. Especially since Smash is misunderstood by many and opportunities like this are rare. Sadly it didn't work out for Brawl, you'll all live and the community will be fine. Melee already had their chance and they didn't stay on the circuit and it's doing just fine.
Since when did having a contract and a sponsor become important in the smash community? If you play this game and have gotten to the point where you feel without something like MLG that theres no hope for the future of the game; then you've lost sight of things.
One last thing; If M2K decides that its his time to leave and retire than so be it. He's still a legend so whether he decides to show up to tournaments or not, will not stop people from talking about how great he was. Dude's got a life and has been doing this **** since 2005. You can only imagine that after so much work and effort that something like this is going to be at least a little crushing.

Just a few things I would like to state.
1). M2k, brawl is not dropped solely because of you incident, if anything it is more the fault of Nintendo not supporting the competitive community, and loss of revenue/ low turn outs. I view the incident as a small reason why.
2). Jem brawl isn't going to die. It seems more or less you are annoyed with your own region because they are not stepping it up. Sure those TO's will some day retire however there will be new TO's and more and more people will eventually come out to play.
3). AZ is correct, we really shouldn't be bashing MLG they gave us a chance and they do deliver that sort of professional appeal, however our community was fine and will still be fine with out MLG.
Finally M2k I would hope that you wouldn't quit, you were one of the most influential people in all of smash, and inspired me to pick up smash. However if you chose to quit I wish you success in what ever you pursue.

i love this game to death, but in the end its just a game. jason zimmerman is a human being. why are you getting so mad about what he did when its not even his fault -,- you're all a bunch of assholes. ugh it's disgusting. and people wonder why the brawl community is dying.

Real life.
Where you have to check yourself before you disrespect someone because you can't hide behind a computer and you might get wrecked.
That goes to everyone, not just Albert.
In all honesty, strong opinions are fine, and I know most of you are going to have strong opinions on this. But I think you can all express yourselves without insulting each other, no matter how frustrated you are at a person or a situation. Some people like to lay the smackdown on someone else over the Internet by saying sh*t that they wouldn't even try in real life because they would get their *sses kicked. Don't be that guy.

I agree with this, but I don't play competitive smash anymore, so my opinion is irrelevant. I just think that the community belongs to you guys; MLG didn't start it. It's going to be whatever you guys make it out to be. Disagreements are going to happen; that's normal. But you guys have to move past the hissyfits and the politics. If you can get a corporate sponsor behind you, that's great, but don't rely on the corporate powers to do what only you can do for yourselves. Most of you are here for love of the game, amirite?

forget about it and enjoy the holidays, when one door closes a new one opens. You should try real life- it's pretty good. You may not see it but I think this is a blessing in disguise M2K. We all have upsets in life. I wasn't accepted into this Graduate School I wanted to go to, but now I'm going to get a job with my bachelors and wind up making more money in human resources rather than counseling (which was my "dream") I'll be making more money without even getting a masters. You know I try really hard to allow blogs to stay open because I always believe there's potential for good or at least civil discussion, but man, you guys make it such a chore for me.
