I like it, but it'll need to step up to convince me that it's worth more than any other half-decent FPS on the market.
Well there is going to be a puzzle system in this game. In the trailer there is some thing called the all seeing eye. Its is simmilar to Samus's visor in the MP series. It might end up as a good FPS in the end

okay.. the game looks good, props to nintendo for attempting to step it up, i'm not saying this game is gonna flop like red steel, but you never know.. it does look pretty good. BUT, it will not be a "halo-killer" though..

I myself hate halo, but yeah.. a wii fps will not beat halo. xbox was made for FPS, wii isn't.

also, don't try to call me a xbox fanboy, cause I'm not... I've been a dedicated nintendo-fan until ps2 came out. That was the first console I bought that isn't

Out to beat Halo? Probably not... haven't seen much of good FPS' on the Wii. That is not to say its impossible, though. No, I'm not a Halo fan; I personally think it's one of the worst FPS series ever made.

I'm less than pleased looking at it though; it's a big step for the Wii, but when compared to other shooters like Gears of War 2, Killzone 2, or Resistance 2, it's not really appealing.

It's in the alpha stage.

We don't even know how it will play, and hardly know anything about the story.

Halo fanboy detected.

Set phasers to 'evaporate' everybody.
So sensative to someone knocking a Nintendo game? Nintendo Fanboy detected.

He's right, it won't be. Doesn't mean it won't be good.

And what is it with any fps on Wii/PS3 being <console's> answer to Halo? Jeez.

It should be an answer to Gears of War.
Halo, imo, is a joke compared to GeOW's series.

The thread title would likely be "The Conduit: Nintendo's Answer to Gears?" if the title were third person, but it's first person, which automatically means it has to stack up to Halo. And of course, if the first time it's shown it has graphics that impress Nintendo console owners and has features that most games on Nintendo systems lack, it's going to be hyped to all hell when it shouldn't be.

Well, I admit you got me there.

I haven't been all too pleased with my purchase of the Wii... I love Brawl, Wii Sports, and Mario Kart, but it doesn't seem it has much of a future.

Looks like I'll be relying on my PS3 to deliver me games until the next gen...

Actually it just kinda irked me that he's already assuming that this game won't be as good as Halo when we don't know hardly anything about it.

And the reason why we look to any FPS like that is because Halo is considered by many to be the best FPS ever made. Though I don't personally agree with that statement, a lot of people do, and they're going to keep on looking for a better game than Halo.

Best CONSOLE FPS ever made. PC gamers will consider it lackluster, but the game was phenomenal even with console controllers.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Half Life set and is still setting the bar for FPS's, just like Mario set the bar for platformers, Street Fighter set the bar for fighting games, and Metroid set the bar for free-form exploration games, and, in more recent years, FPAs (First Person Adventures, as that's what Metroid Prime is).

To sum up Conduit right now:

Online
FPS
Aliens trying to take over Washington D.C.
The main character is a guy named Agent Ford

What we want it to be:

Better than Halo (face it, the Wii needs some good games right now)
Better motion-controls than Metroid Prime
A story that doesn't feel like Independence Day (which it probably will have, so lets not get our hopes up)

I've gotta agree. The concept of "OMG aliens kil tem all1"got old after everyone started trying to copy a certain Ridley Scott film (and its sequels). Come on, you've got Independence Day, Halo, Metroid, Area 51, and now Indiana Jones. Let's see something more original. For example, Half Life pits you against bizarre creatures from other dimensions, FEAR puts you up against supercloned soldiers, Far Cry just has you against people on an island. It isn't that hard to come up with enemies for an FPS, you just have to think outside the box, which this game isn't quite doing enough of.

If the game is like Starship Troopers, I'll worship it, though.

The puzzle part can go to hell, I generally hate puzzles, most designers just such them to break the pace in their games but it ends up being a chore and ruins replayability because when you want to replay the game you remember "oh no, I have to do that god forsaken puzzle again, and their goes the drive the replay the game.

Right now I'd be glad for Wii to get some games comparable to games on other consoles and if this is one of them I'll be glad to see it but one game isn't going to do it for me [Who honestly plays one game for a couple of months anyway, besides fanboys] this game will probably sell just like No More Heroes due to the fact that Wii's fanbase only buys games with the prefix or suffix Wii or Mario.

How about that weird alien weapon where you can guide the shot.
Edit:Sorry, this post has to be longer for some sad reason, anyway, let me elaborate, you shoot it and change where you point and that shot follows to where you point, it looks pretty interesting.
Plus, the explosions seem to need more polishing.
:)
Also, explosions need to throw some material around.
;)

What I'll like to see is at least a cover system.

That seems to be the big ticket with FPS' nowadays, and the Wii has great potential for a good cover system with all the motion control; would be severely disappointed if it didn't.

Nintendo already has an answer to Halo, it's called Metroid.
Metroid- Considered a 'first person adventure'. While it has a lot of FPS elemtents, it centers around puzzles and adventuring instead of shooting. It's like Bioshock in the way that enemies are not to common, but powerful.

Halo- Definitely an FPS. Tons of enemies, tons of weapons, and has a strong multi-player. Not very many puzzles or adventure elements. Just gun your way through to the end of the level.

It irks me that people are already comparing it to Halo and saying it looks awesome when we don't know hardly anything about it.

I fell for that with Geist. Was an okay game, and was fun, but was definetly not worth the full price.

Does this game really have to be different from other fps? Beacause with the wii deprived from AAA third party support and Fps in general this one seems to take both into opinion and more. Its got really good graphics right now and the sound doesnt sound like crap or "in my opinion" below average. What matters most now is its gameplay and lasting appeal, imagine it having Pay and Play in the box and you can download new content. Even though its not ground breaking compared to other Fps' it pretty much shatters the earth on the wii and kicking the a** of all other fps and third party games. And this is based on what we have only seen and heard think about secrets the developers are trying to keep away from us.

Edit: Oh yeah and a lifebar/health meter...havent seen thaat in a while.

Well, I really look forward to the game, it looks like a deep story line is involved, they have observed and will be building on MoH:H2's great(and I mean great) controls(which means finest controls on a console game of course), also enemy AI will probably be intelligent(hopefully to CoD4 standards), and the graphics look nice, the game is only in mid development(or so it is believed), and everything isn't polished well, once they have a publisher, that means they are getting redy to release(probably).

:)Osco316 is my buddy! :)

Art design looks bland. Kind of like Metroid Prime 3 in an urban environment. And I thought Metroid Prime 3 looked bland too. It's not just the art design here either, the whole thing has a boring vibe to it.

Edit: edited out some excessive whining.
