Good post Sharpy ^_^ Ill just build on what you have said ;

Looks like we have a decent schedule coming up, it should look a little like the following:

1. Taunton tournament Late March/Early April. This should be a joint venture between Sharpy, August and myself. Housing is limited and the space that there is already taken. If any other housing comes up everyone will be informed ^^ . It'll be a good tournament to make though, especially if its your first time. We will also get a North v South crew match in, saying as ill be bringing the Newcastle crew down.

2. Ant: Im looking at the idea of trying to host that London tourney we tried a while back? Now that we've met and your smash hungry you reckon we could try pull this off? It would be great for getting new players into the scene!

3. Late April/Early May I should be holding a large tournament. Hopefully with quite a few foreigners ^^ Get England v Scotland done aswell =x

Hopefully if we can get the taunton and london tourney before mine we will have alot of new english players into the scene. New blood is awesome

Yeah nice post Sharpy. Pity about the housing situation, but nonetheless I'll likely attend any/all UK tournaments I can. Is there a big community of smashers down in Taunton? If I recall correctly there's another contingent of smashers down in the Southwest too.

Kone- The trouble is I'm at university now so I don't get to travel to London often and I've got loads of work to do. I could set up a tourney in London but it would require a lot of effort on my part. If there would be a decent turn out then I may be willing to set one up.
Now that I think about it, I don't know if I can make your tourney for April/May =( By that time I will have loads of work and revision to do for uni...
In the mean time, how about smashfests/get togethers for people in and around London? It's a good way to show your skill and to meet other smashers. Feel free to add me to msn/yahoo.

American travel to the UK during the SUMMER can be VERY EXPENSIVE. lets please have this thing in late april/may (i know thats what ya said kone/craig/ed) but once june hits its gonna hurt my pockets which means if i still come im gonna have to **** the tourny lolz...i jus wanna have a good time!

Hey people (if anyone still posts here )

I was wondering...I'm not a SSB 'elite' but I used to to play the game a hell of a lot and we were wondering whether there are other people like us in the UK, aka the 'professionals' who would like to meet up and do a day of SSB. I would love to do something like this, and it would give me a chance to meet the SSB community in our country. I 'll post a new thread for the brits and we'll see what happens....

By the way i'm new to the forums (even though i've known the site for such a long time)
my alias is 'imoneofhem'...and i don't have a main character (i use all characters lol).

Basically this is THE thread for checking out current activity within England. As stated a page back there is three tournament ideas in the mix. Taunton/London/Newcastle. London however is an idea, no real foundations just yet.

For any new poster here are some quick facts/tips/info :

1. The English Smash scene isn't huge, we are always looking for new players. HOWEVER, don't rely on finding a tournament near you. Tournaments are sparse to say the least. If theres one happening and you'd like to meet the community I urge you to travel. Id easily say england has the nicest, coolest community in Europe.

2. If your trying to find local players add me on msn : ceddon@hotmail.com . I pretty much know all smashers in england and have their msns.

For a UK tourney it shouldn't cost more than £100 for all expenses. I think the most i spent at a UK tourney, including travel, entry money matches and all the rest was 70 and thats when i lost 25 in money matches V_V Disaster of a tourney. It is worth it to travel.

Barkingside looks to be a couple hours from me in Reading =) I'm in a pretty dark place concerning college atm but it should be over in the next few weeks so I may be able to come across? Always good to meet new people =D Better yet let's get a London tourny sorted ^~

Well there are quite a few people i know who used to play SSB a lot. I've watched a video or 2 and in comparison to our gameplay, you guys will prob. be owned lol.

I hope we can all get a London tournament set up (so i presume 9/10 UK people here live up north).

Otherwise there are LAN parties going on during the year, is anyone going to them (we could meet and up do some smash and FPS)

If your near the uni you could bring your friends over here and we can set up a cube in the common room, it's pratically free at all times.

BTW, I've played with the best and coolest smashers in England (minus The Doug)
...so you should learn something

The central line should go near newbury park station which is pretty near. Its on the 169 bus route from there i guess. Or theres always barkingside station lol
