Nah, in CT she was all about 3C[m] cancel strings into corner traps, then in CS they took that out and it became 2C Itsuu loops, then they took away Itsuu in combo for CS2 and she was kind of a stick in the mud who poked a lot and was mostly directionless for a long time, and now I have no idea what she's going to be like in EX but it looks like she's changed yet again... though hopefully for the better. CS2 was a really disheartening time to be a Litchi.
(all of these things are just IMO as a particular Litchi player from CT and CS tho, there are plenty of ways to play your Litchi)
Yeah that's the problem with discussing Litchi for anyone who didn't/doesn't play her, most people can't recognize the differences as long as she still has a staff and switches. (Frustrates the hell out of one of my other friends lol) I dare say she's been the most overall changed character in BB history at this point though. (yes even the Nu/Lambda change and CS Rachel etc... my opinions are so controversial lol)
EDIT: These Godsgarden matches are fantastic. This Carl just perfected a Lambda in style lol :D
I'ts probably just the amazing caliber of player and me being disparaging of how bad the initial change-list looked for her lol. I still have mad residual salt for CT to CS and then CS to CS2 when I was forced to drop her because I no longer felt connected to her playstyle. I always played her so different lol. CS2 to Extend is certainly the most subtle change so far, just hopefully in a good way as she seems slightly more viable combo-wise again. I remember the All Green nerf had me ****ing brix... I hope that got changed in the final cut. (oh my goodness did the removal of Itsuu in combo after CS crush me inside lol #foreverbroken. That was what first attracted me to Litchi's style in the first place and it crushed my heart to see it go... at least they gave me Platinum to fill out my mid-range zoning needs with bubbles and kawaii) All in all it doesn't even really affect me anymore... I'm just longing for the old days like a big loser.
I should probably stop talking about it, it's just one of those things you had to be there for or it doesn't mean anything at all to ya.
Sweet, I remember when everyone was so upset that there wasn't going to be an LE for the US for CS... did that change this time around or are you just one of the lucky ones lol
Well hey alright! I'll probably have to get myself one to be a cool kid... though I don't think anything can beat that little Noel figure that greets me at my computer desk after the CS LE :D
EDIT: Not sure if a calendar is worth it... especially if I'm going to go out of my way to grab a copy for both systems... hmmm, I'll have to think about this one. The CD and art might be cool though I guess
EDIT2: Yeah right... like I can resist BB swag in any form XP Sign me up!
Speaking of that... I've been getting into Guilty Gear once again. I just can't quit this game.
But for once, I'm not putting BB on hold either. Unfortunately I'm still swamped with homework...
I think you'll adapt fine, S tier or not. You seem pretty good on opening people up.
I actually had to go into training mode and practice teching throws and blocking Makoto's overheads and j.2C. lol
I still can't block that one overhead though where she spins around though...
Anyways, I noticed I need to bait bursts better without using a rapid cancel. I think that's the next thing I'm going to practice working on in BB.
And also learning how to block Tao's and Mu's overheads. My brain still doesn't register those animations as overheads.
My cross up j2C trick doesn't work in extend since they added more landing lag to it. The 214A~C~A isn't a viable reset anymore without meter and it's not a big damage combo either. So it's not like Hazama where you don't have to care about blocking high until he has 50 meter lol.
All in all, she loses a lot of her midscreen mixups that I used against you haha.
I MAY pick up Rachel for Extend. I hope she'll treat me nicely~
Yeah that's the problem with discussing Litchi for anyone who didn't/doesn't play her, most people can't recognize the differences as long as she still has a staff and switches.
But unfortunately I don't agree with you at all. I actually really liked CS2 Litchi and despite her combos looking duller than CT/CS1, I think I find her the best Litchi. In CT she was very fun but so... sloppy. I played CT recently and I almost screamed 'JESUS GET SOME SPEED YOU CUP Z *****'. Then again CT felt just less fluent and natural compared to CS in general so it may not be entirely specific to Litchi, but I do feel that her mid-screen game was kinda underwhelming outside of comb- (...) I mean Tsubame Gaeshi.
I havent played CS1 much but I know it was much better in that respect but she was just TOO STRONG and even though she had a billion combos you didn't even have to know that many. Her combos were fun though. That is, if you were the one who played Litchi. Your opponent would likely not find it as 'fun'. Hitconfirming was hard either and she could start a big *** combo of literally every hit. Her mid screen game was excellent and her pressure impeccable. She was just too perfect, might as well stay in Training Mode. I wasn't skilled at all but I still managed to do well. If she wasn't so strong she would have been really great though...
CS2 had the dullest combos but despite being the Litchi's worst combos, I still found them amusing and satisfying :3. They were not so easy either as they required some strict timing. They were long, corner carried excellently and gave a delicious amount of heat. Her mid screen game was still great because her pressure was still very good as was her oki (her corner oki was phenomenal) and switching between staff and staffless was implemented by this design. And she was a good character but not too good! So yeaaaah, the only thing I kinda missed were her combos but they still weren't so bad.
I havent got CSEX but it appears she is still a good character with still an awesome mid-screen game but her combos don't look that great ;_;. They are so much shorter now! I liked her long combos... Then again I have seen some long and flashy combos here and there, I just hope they will be reliable enough. But yeah, things are looking good for Raichi :D.
Kuraudo, I might be a bit closer to 7:30 because of some stuff going on, and likely wanting 10 minutes of practice post-dinner, lol. But yeah, add me if you haven't and stuff and I'll be on later on.
Edit: Forgot to mention PSN's on the first page and all that.
What made me fall in love with Litchi was her smooth flowing staffed combos, especially when it came 3C[m] and Itsuu shenanigans from CT/CS. I fully enjoyed the stage control the abillity to flow from midscreen to corner with a long string could give, and the unique kind of oki it gave rise to when you finished. When those largely stopped working as of CS2 so too did my connection with her play. It began to feel clunky and unnatural with few opportunities to flow, and eventually I decided I may as well give her up for Platinum who had retained that ability in her combos along with item usage. We all knew Litchi was going to suffer after CS because of how good she had become, but I had hoped it would come in a form that was less impacting on overalll play, like a huge damage nerf. Instead they took away most of her ability to work staffed combo-wise, which had been my primary enjoyment of her from the get go. (If I had to end a midscreen with Tsubame Gaishi for 2.3k and not even a 6C one more time I was going to scream lol)
I was used to working very hard for my wins in CT, but unlike CT I didn't find CS2 fun to work for for Litchi. Like, sure you got heat in CS2, but so what? You couldn't really do much with it anymore, even All Green (I'm weird in that All Green was my favorite use of Heat in CT/CS) didn't link as smoothly into a combo as it used to, and any rapid cancels you pulled would be largely in vain. (I remember having my friend do a double rapid cancel combo on me when I was in negative state and not have it break 3k... I think she cried after that). It just wasn't my thing anymore, I felt I may as well have been playing Ragna so I did my best to move on. I knew full well there were going to be other Litchi's (and even some new ones) who would come in and do well with the changes, like them even, but I wouldn't be able to count myself among them anymore.
Seeing the Godsgarden play gives me some faint hope though, more than I've had for Litchi in a long time. We'll see if she can't go back to the character whose 20+ hit overly technical combos I fell in love with someday. I don't mind working my *** off for my wins like the old days, but if I'm going to do so I hope it's with the flowy style of Litchi I used to enjoy.
...And that's my war story lol.
Oh, did I mention I mained Litchi and Bang in CT? CS was like "WUT DO WITH GOOD CHARTACTERSBBQ!?" which of course immediatly came crashing back down in CS2 XP. I really knew how to pick 'em I guess lol
I just picked this game up to compete with some friends...
unfortunately those friends are some of the better players in the country so I guess I kinda need to know where even to start.. I know dustloop is the site of choice but what in general should I be looking for..
I chose Hazama for what it's worth because of how mega stylish he is.
But yeah I won't be able to play these guys for a while but I'd like to at least be able to look like I know how to play the game haha
1. Lurk Dustloop forums, preferably the character you want to play.
2. Get a run-down on lingo, strategy, combos and match-ups.
3. Go into training mode to hone your execution.
4. Start playing human opponents.
5. Continue lurking for new info.
6. Repeat steps 3-5 when necessary.
Yeah, pretty much. Also, understand that it WILL take a good amount of time and practice, you WILL get frustrated, and you WILL find yourself going "what the hell? How did that NOT work?!!" on at least 30 different occasions.
