oh assuming custom moves are allowed then everything's different. they're banned in my region. I'd think Lucario should have no trouble killing with customs because of that rushing sideB he gets.

Honestly I think the only time lucario has a bad match up is when you don't know how to deal with the opposition, you should be fine you know what your going against.
You haven't played a good rosalina yet.

I honestly don't care for any of the custom moves after messing around with them more. They might be useful in like...a handful of matchups, but the vanilla moves are almost always better.

They are defiantly useful in specific MU's. Like if you use the snare aura sphere(the slow one). Vs bowser/ ganon on YI they can never land if you just camp under the platform.

His Snagging Aura Sphere might be the most OP move in the game, in my experience.

Pros:
  • It hits multiple times
  • It hits just as hard as normal Aura Sphere and scales with Aura/Rage just as effectively (although it hits at a higher angle)
  • If your opponent is on the ledge, you can throw a fully charged one and it'll move so slowly and its inward windbox is so strong that if they try anything at all (including rolling onto the stage) they'll get bopped. You can even throw a baby AS right after for extra coverage. Check this clip out for an example: http://youtu.be/vG2GTFItUN4?t=1m07s Hell, actually, just watch this whole video, it's a great example for how OP Snagging Aura Sphere is
  • You can throw one under a platform and they will be forced to go over it, where you'll be waiting. Or they can just run away, and that's whatever because it puts you back in a neutral position
  • You can throw it into the stage if you're recovering and they absolutely cannot try to edgeguard you
  • You can throw one, then run into it and Force Palm and it's 100% safe
  • You can b-reverse one into the stage if your opponent is recovering for a really aggressive and effective edgeguard (especially good for characters with linear recoveries, e.g. Mario, Captain Falcon, maybe Rosalina)

Cons:
  • You have more cooldown than with a normal Aura Sphere
  • ???
  • It might not be as effective against characters with reflectors

Seriously, if you go to a tournament and it has customs legal, use Snagging Aura Sphere. It's the perfect weapon.

So I did a ledge attack on a gordo and it stuck to D3 for the rest of the game. I dunno how easy it is to replicate.

Yeah, snaring aura sphere is definitely a really scary tool and will probably be the better option in a handful of matchups, it's so incredibly limiting and setups for a lot of things. I wouldn't go as far as saying it's the best move in the game but you've got your points right. The "problem" is mainly that all of the AS variations are really good and that's why it probably won't see as much use as it maybe should.

Have people already started using piercing aura sphere vs. Rosalina? It helps soooo much vs. her as both Luma and her will take damage but only Rosalina takes knockback (at least at reasonable percents) separating them for a while at least. I also really like that it sends people flying in a horizontal angle making recovery a bit harder than after taking a hit from a normal aura sphere.

Ugh... Finally hit my goal of 1000 wins (out of 1265 games) in For Glory Singles. I also had a secondary goal of having an 80% win rate... 79.05%.... >.<

So who else loves blasting ledge huggers with a full power aura sphere from mid stage? Its amazing that so many people think they are safe hanging on the ledge before the aura sphere hits their fingers, currently my People surprised tracker is sitting at 50.

T-that's...INSANE! X_X
I've barely broken 300!
Holding it up at 90% while playing with other characters. I stopped caring after a bit. Today I went all random, but most of who I played against were trash. :T

ALSO. Guide coming soon n ****. Sorry, I said i'd do that along time ago, but I wanted more tourney experience with Lu before jumping right into it.

I still have not played For Glory. Not interested in that campy mess. It also can lead to unrealistic expectations for some matchups since 95% of the people playing are garbage.

For Fun, on the other hand, amuses me. I have been undefeated as Kirby in the whopping 5 times I have played. Doing his pivot walk is the greatest joy in the world.

That is my point. You won't learn too much except how to be good at For Glory.

I'm glad customs are banned because I don't wanna have to worry about all these builds to try to screw with other characters. it's more fun to work around disadvantages with the options we're given.

Also lemme help on the guide

I think the novelty of custom moves will wear off eventually. I don't even worry about them, and most people I know don't even use them in tourney.

RT being super negative, eh?

Since less skilled players play on For Glory, I'm kinda happy to give 'em a whoopin' because some of them just wanna learn. Or it'll force them to get better.

Some really good Japanese do play on it too.

I've learned a lot of character quirks, strengths, and weaknesses too.

Not negative, being realistic.

Some of the things you learn may help you, but don't expect all the people you meet will play the matchup correctly or hell, even play their character correctly.

Also, the lack of platforms means you won't learn how to deal with them or use them to your advantage.

Now everyone can stop hating Lucario for "replacing" Mewtwo.

Truly, this is a joyous day. :estatic:

You used to be more optimistic. Whatever happened to you, bro?

Yes! Less generalization!

So, I finally got 3DS Smash. I'm looking forward to doing some fights this weekend. ... And I haven't even looked at this thread in probably a month. I have reading to do.

I never understood that whole idea to begin with.
Aura sphere being a retextured and less wobbly shadow ball and lucario being a bit floaty kicked it off and it just blew out of proportion from moaning.

There is really no logic in it at all.

Yep. Just like a bunch of other "this character is a clone of that character" nonsense.

People like to use the MAH clones, even though other fighting games have the same issue.

But whatever, now people can once again prove that Mewtwo is garbage, unless they fix the large number of problems he had. But they probably will.

Well I hope Mewtwo is actually good this time, I've been waiting a good 5 years for this rival fight and ill be pissed if its just a one-sided smack-down.

He'll probably get the Doc treatment, just get a few random buffs and nerfs to fit Smash 4's game flow. But his Dsmash definitely needs to be fixed.

I hate to ask this question, but I'm at a bit of a loss. Can I expect other players to easily air dodge/jump out of potential air combos like level 9 AI can? I know the reaction time for a person is 12-19 frames (or around it), but I'm unable to play Smash 4 with other people unless I'm able to travel, and that already occurs far too little for my Project M tournaments. All my practice partners just dropped Smash 4. They really don't like it.

It's already difficult enough trying to land consecutive aerials. Air dodge into itself is so fast that I can barely get the hitbox coverage out fast enough to keep up some strings. What seems like hitstun directly related to knockback doesn't really bode well for my existing issues. So is the AI's ability to dodge/jump immediately after hitstun ends one of its other inhuman timings, or can I expect this from other humans as well?

Robin+Lucario isn't as amazing as I thought for dubs.

But the team is pretty ******** in terms of covering options.

Double Team KOs everything.
