I don't know. I've been debating whether or not I should make the drive, and the answer is probably going to be no. I don't see myself having much of a chance of winning my money back to pay for the trip over there, plus no one from Madison wants to go with me.

Not sure if you still play regular brawl, but there's no brawl + scene at Waba.
By the way; we need to scrap the AL rankings and make a AL/GA rankings. we don't have real tournaments besides the AU tournaments. I think it would be pretty cool to merge our scenes. Most AL players can make it to Waba, i think this would be awesome.

Well we're still not sure if everyone can make it up there on a monthly basis. Birmingham has George for carpool. We're not even sure if Emily is going to want to keep driving us. Hunstville doesn't even talk anymore, and as for the rest of the smashers from the AU crew...Idk where they went.

If a merger is to take place, there could be some serious AL vs GA bias going on when determining the rankings.
No.
Anyone qualified to be on the panel wouldn't do such a thing.
No one really gives a **** about AL vs. GA (though it's fun to talk about, I guess), and the people doing well at tournaments end up going to both states, anyway.

Alright, w/e. I was just giving my two cents. I still think you should do it, I'm just noting that we've had enough problems just trying to determine our own rankings, that it might be harder if we do a merger. Now you have to go talk GA into it.

Listen up, as stated multiple times in this thread Alabama and Georgia are considering a merge. We've shot the idea down a few times, but with our dying community and lack of tournaments, and their monthlies that people seem to actually want to attend instead of supporting Zero's tournaments....it appears the choice could be clear as day.
However, I'll ask the state. AFTER pointing out some critical points.
Why our scene is dying. Lack of enthusiasm, and lack of wanting to travel. We could still revive it, we just need more support from the players themselves. I understand money, cars, and carpools are all big problems that many of us can't help at the moment. But we've got to at least show a bit of effort.
Some things I'd like to see for the upcoming tournaments.
NOT CALLING IT A GLORIFIED SMASH FEST
Not posting that you're interested if you KNOW you cant go.
No jinxing the tournament by saying "It's going to suck" (I mean if you have a feeling it's going to be bad joke about it among yourselves, don't post it on the boards so people who are actually interested start to second guess it).
The willingness to go the extra mile to make the community stronger.
For tournament organizers:
Be mindful of when you're wanting to host a tournament.
-We're not made of money, so don't host tournaments that are within a week of each other.
Please make a list of interested attendees.
Listen to the community, if a rule is silly or dumb. Hear us out! Chances are we're trying to help your tournament.
But meh enough of my blabbering. I want to issue a vote to see if people here are interested in merging or not. Post Yay or Nay (or yes or no, whatever makes you happy). I'd like inputs too. I'll keep the second post updated with the results.

You can count my vote as yay, but I have a few things you might want to consider.
A merged list would probably be top 10, making it look more notable. However, this means that those who couldn't even make the top 10 in our state could potentially give up. I don't think a PR should be the basis for participation in tournaments, but our discussions here over the past half year have made it abundantly clear to me that many people are only motivated by the chance of getting on the PR. Turnout could potentially drop if we do a merger.
I tend to hope that a merger would combine the GA and AL communities to get bigger turnouts at tournaments. Unfortunately, I'm still worried about what I stated above happening.
