Ok, as you might of noticed British Actor Daniel Craig will be playing as secret agent James Bond and it will be premieres in theathers today, I will go and see it myself as I am a fan of 007 movies in particular the older ones, so who here is a fan of 007, or is going to go and watch this movie?

EDIT - This topic can be about any 007 movie, not just Quantum of Solace :)

Daniel Craig has been used since Casino Royale. -_-

Anyway, I heard the movie sucks and no longer feels like a Bond movie, but a bland spy movie. Too bad.

I heard different accounts: that it was actually the most "Bond" movie yet. I won't be able to see it for a while, so I'll reserve any final judgment of mine till then.

Just by the way it looked in previews, it looks too action based. That's losing the Bond feel.

Also, Pierce Brosnan>>>>>>>>>Daniel Craig.

Whether or not Brosnan was the best Bond...I think he undoubtedly looked the most like Bond should.
This is so true, honestly I always taught of Brosnan that way, I guess it was due to the fact that Goldeneye was the first 007 I ever watched before knowing the existence of the older ones and that's where I got that impression from.

This I agree with.

For this reason.

Truth. I saw it, and it had a very unsatisfying ending. Sean Connery displayed a more classic bond. When he starts feeling emotion, it ruins the bond character. Bond is just someone who kills epople and has sex. Unfortunately, Daniel Craig shows too much emotion.

The new Casino Royale was such a good departure and reboot from what was killing modern Bond movies.

Why did they stop after one movie?

Maybe this is just because I've never seen a Bond movie in it's entirety (yes, pick up your jaws, folks), but it seems to me like this would be a great thing to change about the character. I haven't seen Quantum yet, but I like seeing characters that have, like...you know, a personality. Someone who "just kills people and has sex" would get really dull for me. Really fast. I know Bond's supposed to be smooth, but invincible protagonists are always a bad thing. I like a hero with vulnerabilities.

But emotional protagonists are too much of a cliche to me, that's why I prefer Rock hard ones.

As I said, the movie felt less bondish.

The villian was less bondish.

The Bond girl was.. well.. also less Bondish, and not so appealing as the others.

It's a decent action-based spy movie, but not a good Bond movie. If this was what the movie offered, I would have just watched the Jason Bourne movies instead.

I agree, it's not surprising really since most of us here would have grown up with Brosnan as Bond (at least at the cinemas) so he just seems right to us.

High on action, low on plot. Horrible for a Bond movie. All the class that characterizes Bond is thrown out the window in favor of the generic spy. It would have been good if it didn't carry the 007 name.

I wouldn't recommend seeing it, if you're expecting an actual Bond movie.

AND WHY WEREN'T THERE ANY GADGETS

I guess I'm going to have to agree with everyone else now. It didn't feel like what I would've perceived a Bond movie to be. But there was great action, good acting, and it wasn't too long—a good, disposable spy movie.

And with that said, since I have NO attachment to the Bond movies and didn't care about how "Bond" it felt, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. If you haven't seen it, you should. Just think of Daniel Craig as some other spy guy.

everyone says this movie is more bourne less bond so to speak

i always thought sean connery seemed most like bond because i read most of the books before seeing the movies and he seemed most like the bond from the stories.

By the way, I always felt Sean Connery made the best Bond in terms of looks. I grew up watching Bond on old VHS tapes that my late Grandpa used to watch, and he LOVED Bond, so I grew up loving it as well.

I think he would be disappointed with this movie.

Slowly starting to enjoy my mothertongue again. :)
Concerning Bond actors; I actually think that physically, Daniel Craig is an amazing James Bond- his body is perfect for the job and although the face is a much more objective matter, I'd say that's very well cut out for it as well. Sean Connery has nostalgia bonus, and between the two I'd definitely give Connery the nod, but for me, the list is something like:

  • Sean Connery
  • Daniel Craig
  • Pierce Brosnan
  • Roger Moore
  • Others?

Pierce Bronsan always had a far too feminine look in my opinion- he looked the part of the lady charmer, but not really the undercover agent with steel nerves even in the face of death.

About Quantom of Solace as a movie; first of all I want to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and that it's a fairly good movie. The action is spot on and there's a good amount of snappy dialogue ("James, move your ***."), the main elements that make you have a great time. However, that's pretty much where my praise stops. The plot was rather - for lack of a better word- uncompelling, just enough to give Bond an excuse to go wild and kill people like crazy, really. The constant references to Casino Royale were sort of annoying, as having to dig in my memory for the details to whoever's death or life kind of broke up the pace. Bond is also a bit out of character- really, one of his key characteristics is that he isn't a killer in cold blood and doesn't go murdering every minor criminal that gets in his way. And for God's sake, WHERE - WERE - THE GADGETS?!

Just my take on the whole thing. I tend to agree with the general opinion; "Good spy movie, not James Bond's finest, excellent action, lack of gadgets/good plot."

This is an official illustration used in one of Ian Flemming's novels regarding what James Bond is supposed to look like

I like Connery, but for a reboot, Craig gets the job done for what the "new" James Bond is.

I didn't enjoy QOS as much as the other Bond movies. It was okay.

Still had plenty of awesome action sequences though.
