Concerning Bond actors; I actually think that physically, Daniel Craig is an amazing James Bond- his body is perfect for the job and although the face is a much more objective matter, I'd say that's very well cut out for it as well. Sean Connery has nostalgia bonus, and between the two I'd definitely give Connery the nod, but for me, the list is something like:
- Sean Connery
- Daniel Craig
- Pierce Brosnan
- Roger Moore
- Others?
Pierce Bronsan always had a far too feminine look in my opinion- he looked the part of the lady charmer, but not really the undercover agent with steel nerves even in the face of death.
About Quantom of Solace as a movie; first of all I want to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and that it's a fairly good movie. The action is spot on and there's a good amount of snappy dialogue ("James, move your ***."), the main elements that make you have a great time. However, that's pretty much where my praise stops. The plot was rather - for lack of a better word- uncompelling, just enough to give Bond an excuse to go wild and kill people like crazy, really. The constant references to Casino Royale were sort of annoying, as having to dig in my memory for the details to whoever's death or life kind of broke up the pace. Bond is also a bit out of character- really, one of his key characteristics is that he isn't a killer in cold blood and doesn't go murdering every minor criminal that gets in his way. And for God's sake, WHERE - WERE - THE GADGETS?!
Just my take on the whole thing. I tend to agree with the general opinion; "Good spy movie, not James Bond's finest, excellent action, lack of gadgets/good plot."
