but how do you get from .pcs to .tga to edit and back again when editing's done?
what? I don't understand what you're asking.

MK26 was asking how to get a custom texture to show up on the CSS. There is no way to easily do this. You have to extract the character portraits from common5.pac using stepone of CUPASH, edit the portrait you want to look like the custom texture using photoshop or gimp, put that edited .tga into the newfiles folder, and then run steptwo.

There is no .pcs involved.

...unless there's some super easy way to do this that I'm just not aware of, but you'd think the youtube video guide would mention it.

Does anyone know a link that enables us to download all of the "InfFace###.brres" files? I have 41 of them, but I'm not too sure if there are more.

Okay... I'm not sure if code requests are taboo, but has anyone developed a black Yoshi and white Yoshi codes? It'd be cool to bring the ENTIRE Yoshi Story cast in, heh...

I want to know if I could edit effects like sonics blue aura. I wanted to edit it and make it orange for the shadow texture. Also, can this method be used to replace sounds in the games?

I've seen people using custom textures where it appeared on the CSS as well as in game. How do they do this?

Forgive me if this is already identified but don't use the awesome black/green costume for Wolf on KittyCorp because everytime you do neutral B, the game skips/lags a second in gameplay like a warp. Other than that, no problems and dayumn good codes.

Fun facts: Did you know that you could take the SD out before a match if (for some ludacris reason) you don't wan't textures on for that match but can put them back in before your next one to get them back? =o

Also, you can take your SD out at the CSS, change a texture on your SD, and put it back in and start the match and the texture will work so you don't even have to keep going in and out of Gecko. =o Great for testing what you want. ;)

Two last things, if you guys have any other places for textures besides StackSmash or KittyCorp, please feel free to share. =p And if you guys know a way I can see these on the CSS so I don't have to go into the match to see the textures, that would be even better. ;P

I had textconv and ntcompress and all that, common5_en.pac, followed the steps exactly on this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xsloet8AuK0, got the proper files, put them in my sd card correctly, used sdloader and all that in my geckoOS and much more. But only my custom textures showed up and not the character select portraits. Has anyone gotten this to work seriously? As far as I know I haven't seen it yet besides a couple of screenshots from other sites.

EDIT: I can actually see this on the victory screen, but thats it. I know this question has probably been asked a million times.. Whats the reason for this?

I...... don't understand what you're trying to say..... Fill the transparency with magenta more often than not? And by raw CSPs you mean the regular CSPs, correct?

Yeah, just fill the transparency with magenta then index the image.

There should be an index on each character made here with all 3 site's textures. Things would be a lot more organized, easy to find and neat.

I had the same problem as you, but I put this code in and it works perfectly. Hope that fixes your problem.

How do I index it? I tried using IrfanView to reduce the number of colors, but that didn't work...
Well, ASH is really made to only accept indexing from Photoshop (other programs do it differently, hence some gimp users having trouble).

In both gimp and PS it's Image > Mode > Index. Some suggest reducing the colors to 70. I recommend you try that, or if you want it as lossless as possible, try 256 (it worked for me, but I recolored a real Brawl CSP, not making one off of a snapshot, so results will vary) then go to 70 if it fails (since CUPASH is automated, you can make mistakes like this without pulling your hair out).

But remember to finish off everything before you index...or the modifications to the file later will looks weird unless you change it back to RGB.

Opponents online won't be able to see you having them swapped, however. I think someone made it, but it's not downloadable yet.

1. You need the ORIGINAL in battle portraits in the neededfiles folder next to common5 before you start step one. No one has a download for all the originals, however... Once you do that, then you can use the _small's.

2. I'm not sure why this would happen. Mine freezes if you don't want at the selection screen, and I'm using 1.3 File Replacement, 1.1 SD Loader, SD Files, and Disable Custom Stages 1.1....

This texture hack is badass! Couldn't you use the same concept with this hack to hack character voices?
Apparently, no.... I know music is impossible atm, so why should character voices be different? Although it would be awesome to have Roy vocals...

I also tried SSBExtract but I only got the .bin files...

Just put the stage texture into pf/stage/melee/

If you're asking how to make stage textures, this is the wrong topic.

Yo peepz, with 1.1, I thought it fixed the wait time you need to need to wait but I still crash whenever I use texture hacked characters then move to the stage select screen without waiting 5 seconds.

And also I wanna hack voices cause I want the space animals to have their melee voices back. I'd just give Wolf his Japanese voice.

Are you using the disable custom stages code? If not, use it.
Nope, but I do now lol

Although if you have the Disable Custom Stages hack on, it can still freeze, I think the reason for this is other codes, I removed as much extra codes as possible the only other codes I'm keeping on while texture hacking are replay and no tripping hacks. When using these hackz, like the first post says, you want to use as few additional hackz as possible.
