Good idea. It probably wont happen for a month or so though. But hey thats more time to hype it up.

AustinRC, if you're lucky I might just suicide my first stock to give you a chance. MAYBE.

Man after all this time I forgot what a giant head you have. I'll beat you this time without FD or Cain grabbing. Hows that sound man? In fact we can remove FD from the random stages completely. I would also beat you without using L or R or up smash and uair but that would be boring for everyone to watch so I'll just make it a good old fashion ******. ;D

Ranking systems sound pretty good. I think the main issue, though, is events.

Jan23-Steakfest2 might have melee, though it's not confirmed.
Jan30-Monica, the hostess for Phase monthlies in Dallas, said that melee might be a side event.
Feb6-HOBO's have melee at each tourney.
Feb26- El Paso's Raging storm tourney will have melee

The obvious problem is that melee is a side event at all of these tourneys with brawl taking over. Everyone at FS8 can understand what I'm talking about, with only 3 set ups and brawl surrounding us to the point of suffocation.

What we need is monthlies and an occasional major of ONLY melee.

-Dallas:
They make BY FAR the most effort in traveling. It's close enough that Oklahoma would consider making the drive for monthlies and maybeee some more of midwest for majors. It's close enough for Houston, Austin, and SA to travel to. Besides, we owe DoH and Bluezaft since they do care about the scene.

-Austin:
Despite being the center of Texas and the best candidate for major's, there's simply a lack of venue's. Hylian's been trying for over a year now in finding one in brawl with no success, and AustinRC is still in the market for his April tourney.

-Houston: HOBO's aren't cutting it. Allan clearly wants the game to die.

-San Antonio:
Very convenient for Austin and RGV. This screams monthlies. Kyle is looking around as always to hold events. Another FS6 that's NOT conflicting with HOBO or anything else could get a lot of attendees

Monthlies in 2 out of those 4 cities of JUST melee alternating every few weeks would be great. Dallas and SA seem like good candidates. El Paso and RGV seem unlikely places for everyone to travel to since there's not enough hype and distance Johns.

Allan had a change of heart. Part of his new years resolution. No more hate towards melee is what he told me. As far as hobos not cutting it. Test Your Skills has had over 16+ players. As I spoke to sideffect already. His thread will be the thread that Test Your Skills Melee will be advertised for melee houston. Its pointless to create a thread and he already has 1. All hype will go to his thread so out of staters can come for melee. I see the melee scene getting more bigger and better. With sideffect announcing that he will return to the scene. This will provide motivation to players to stay active and to get better by playing a top player. Just my opinions:p

Im going to start sending you the info this year so that you can edit the front page to get the houston melee camp off the ground asap. Thanks for the help:bigthumbu

It's not the number of players that attend, it's the attention that melee gets. How many TV's does melee get for HOBOS now? I went to 16 and 17 and at both there was only 2 setups, one of them my first match was a tourney match against Sybawave :/ But then again, that was half a year ago.

If he's all for supporting the melee scene again then that would be amazing.

Kal, before you rank yourself ahead of me, play me. Also, Austin has beaten Xelic at the past two tournaments they've both been at. Besides, city rankings are kinda pointless imo. People who go to tournaments and place well and/or are recognized for their skill will be ranked accordingly. I think the way it was done in the past, with a group of several panelists would be a good idea.

Anyway, I'm going to do my best to make it to as many Texas events that have melee as I possibly can. Anyone who wants to come with me is free to let me know. I wanna see the Melee scene in Texas become what it once was.

Last few times we played I beat you. And I remember placing higher at FS7 (not by much) which is why I put myself above you. That, and I actually know how to play the game.

Also, you beating me does not equate to you being better than me. The same holds for Austin. He can't just beat Xelic in two tournaments and be declared better than him.

Seriously, I've gone over this with you like a hundred times. Beating someone doesn't make you better than them. It's not that simple.

There's not enough compelling evidence to suggest that he is better. Don't get me wrong, he could be better. But I don't need to supply a reason for why I don't think he's better when Xelic has been the superior player for years. Once enough evidence presents itself, I'll agree that he's better.

And naturally, him beating Xelic twice at least puts him "in the running." He obviously should be considered for it, but as of right now, I'd say Xelic is better. On the other hand, if we're just going to base this on tournament results starting at FS7, then Austin should be above Xelic. He placed higher in both tournaments and beat him twice.

Hey SideEffect, I don't think we've ever played. I only hear magnificent stories. How about a $5 money match some time?

I think I will be in Houston this weekend, actually.

As of right now Nike20 has a top 10 list. Which has multiple viewpoints of everyone in the state of Texas. I very much appreciate him taking the time to do this and am VERY glad he did. With that said and done I think the job for us now is to discuss panelists or some other type of ranking system rather than be nit picky with the ranking.

Jesus *not JesusFreak*, calm the **** down. Xelic was sandbagging vs me all three times that I've beaten him in tournament now. I dont give a **** what anyone thinks about me so both of you knock it off. Untill someone establishes a list then quit this dumb arguing!!!!! **tches.
Lol, it's not like discussing player rankings is invalid without an official ranking system; in fact, it's natural. And the "argument" seemed to be more like calm debate. Ironically, you're the one who doesn't seem calm, haha. Besides, everyone knows I'm the best in Texas, aside from Darkrain of course.

I've had two people say that my previous post was dickish and rude so to clear things up I will give a brief reason as to why I posted it and edit the original post. I was kidding for the most part granted I did it in a rather over exaggerated manor. Firstly I dunno why but I dislike people posting about me, although that is going to happen seeing as how we are trying to establish a top 10 in Texas ranking. Secondly the point that I was trying to get across is that instead of discussing individual placements as of right now. I would like it the players discuss different ways to revive melee in Texas. If my post seemed rude or insulting to you then I deeply apologize.

Smasher <3,

Arc

P.S. Tirno >= Darkrain.

sideeffect's pretty underrated, i'd definitely say top 5 in texas at the very least. if this 100$ mm actually goes down it's gonna be pretty intense but i'd have to say i think ronnie's gonna come away with the win

I want $100 :( And I wanna see it too. Austin's got it :) Btw, sorry about any harm I caused... it was not intentional. Also, SOS, I'll travel with you as much as I can. When you say pay for gas, you mean all of it?

*wonders how we got so off topic* But seriously lets try and get this back on track. If we did start a power ranking again would you want it to start with a previous tournament "If so which one" or would you want to start it with a tournament that is going to happen?

the second to last FS so caveman can get some points :D. but seriously.

the last second to last FS was probably on of the bigger melee turn outs, with people from SA, Houston, and DFW. i didnt go to any of the houston hobos that had melee so i dont no how the turn out was there.

I disagree. Any tournament with Bebobli placing in the top 10 should not be considered!!!!!! haahah!! He's like number 12 in Houston!
