Perhaps in the end it was beneficial? Yeah I mean there was a bot involved from what I read, but to have a rep of the site to assist with this group seems like a major win in the end.

I second this, if he actually does anything it is quite beneficial. Also I just got that letter sent out addressed to miyamoto, cuthbert was refering to Imamura when he told me it but Miyamoto should still fall under it. it's a tracked big envelope with plenty of useful information regarding her popularity as a standalone character, i think it's like 8-9 pieces of paper with source articles to prove their existence, along with my handwritten and printed letter. Perhaps something will happen, iunno.

Best of luck - let us know how it goes, if anything comes of it!

I'll be really surprised if you get a response, out of curiosity though did you get any pictures prior to sending it? An image board sent Nintendo of America a thank you poster one year and the guy who did it provided images before sending it. Nintendo of America did respond upon receiving it.

get any pictures of what? from whom? what reason would nintendo have to send me anything? also this is to nintendo's central office, there's little reason for the main branch to watch anything online in america anyway. They do have to sign for it, and it's a big ass envelope, so we'll know if they get it.

I mean if you got any photos of this thing you sent prior to shipping it off.

Before this happened the guy who was preparing the poster of everyones collaboration to ship provided some images of the item before he sent it off

Oh lol silly me. No I didn't, we were pressed for time to deliver it and only managed to finish printing off the other stuff. The envelope isn't much to look at but the contents are good.

It's not like Ayanos mask, but someone has built a Krystal mask suitable for cosplay purposes. The con with it though is that it's based on that old model of her from the mid 00s (in other words if you're aiming for accuracy, this isnt as spot on as opposed to her official models). According to the post it's only half of the entire head so it'd require some messing around to complete it, so I assume.

I'm personally not big on that particular model but if it was the only option then i'd probably go for one.

I'm guessing you need to source your own fur/know someone in the mascot suit business.

I think that I ought to post about this. Following on after the Metroid series seeing some much-deserved good treatment at E3, they've just announced the SNES Classic Edition, which is due out this September - and the Star Fox series is being treated as this machine's crown-jewel.

Not only is the original Star Fox included, marking its first-ever re-release, the system also includes the previously-unreleased Star Fox 2 - and I would imagine that it'll be the finished version from Nintendo's own vaults, not the near-complete version that was leaked onto the internet 15 years ago.

http://i.imgur.com/3QNB8pp.jpg

We only have the North American box-art right now, showing the North American console. Obviously, those of us in PAL regions and Japan had a different-looking SNES, though it's likely that the game-list for at least the North American and PAL releases will be the same, as it was with the mini-NES.

The official game-list is here;

Contra III: The Alien Wars™
Donkey Kong Country™
EarthBound™
Final Fantasy III
F-ZERO™
Kirby™ Super Star
Kirby’s Dream Course™
The Legend of Zelda™: A Link to the Past™
Mega Man® X
Secret of Mana
Star Fox™
Star Fox™ 2
Street Fighter® II Turbo: Hyper Fighting
Super Castlevania IV™
Super Ghouls ’n Ghosts®
Super Mario Kart™
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars™
Super Mario World™
Super Metroid™
Super Punch-Out!! ™
Yoshi’s Island™

I still can't believe it: Star Fox 2 is finally being officially released - in 2017!

I wonder if they release Star Fox 2 as a standalone at any point. Be one heck of a way to start of the Switch's VC.

In anycase, that pushed the SNES mini into must buy territory for me.

The European version of the mini-SNES has been confirmed as well, now. It's also due out on September 29th, and has the same game-list as the North American version.

Here's the box. As expected, it looks like a miniature version of a PAL SNES, which in turn looked identical to the Super Famicom except for the name-badge on the front.

I'm in the same boat, here. It's a must-buy for me because of the inclusion of Star Fox 2, and I'd also love to be able to get Star Fox 2 on the Switch VC, too.

I'm sure they will. I'm sure eventually it'll get put out on the VC or the eShop in some capacity. I imagine they're just launching it as part of the SNES classic to elicit that very sentiment you gave, even though the thing probably won't need any help flying off the shelves.

I hope this release can spark some renewed interest in the SF series...

With any luck, it will. They're already using Star Fox 2 as the centrepiece of the official site for the North American version of the machine, at any rate. They've even posted up some new artwork;

Of course, the possibility exists that the logo isn't new - after all, the archived final version of the game would've had one, even though we've never seen it (all of the old trade-show builds had placeholder logos, after all). Either way, it all looks nice.

looks like i'm late to the party lol, I was not expecting this, not after Cuthbert said that this was "likely impossible" to happen. All this considered I wonder if this will add the custom ships as a new staple to the series because i loved that ****. Though I wonder how this affects the games canon and what it means for Krystal

Nintendo dgaf about canon and will use any timeline they want, or create yet another new one. Canon is literally one of the last things they think about in the development process.

Well, that's to be expected though, right? There are 20 old games and 1 "new" one never officially released before, which do you think would get a disproportionate amount of attention? Not that that's a complaint.

Absolutely. It's great to see, either way!

Here's the full version of the artwork from before, by the way, courtesy of Nintendo of Europe;

I just had to run over and drop this into my Andross support-thread, too, since he appears in the background of it, as he rightly should.

That is true lol, I think miyamoto even said before that he'd wish people didn't care that much about it

It doesnt really effect Krystal or the canon. Star Fox 2 is a 20+ year old game and given its origin in how the SNES was wiped out by 64, it's as not something that would be tied to it. It does help Miyu and Fay nonetheless, originally we had just Katt and Krystal, but we now have those two plus Miyu and Fay. Four girls to put it. I would mention Amanda and Lucy but because Command isnt canon they'd have to be reintroduced.

Fara isn't canon at all, the Nintendo Power comic doesn't count unlike Farewell Beloved Falco, which took place after 64 and right as Adventures started..

Didn't we also have Lucy Hare? Edit: never mind, command isn't cannon.

That's a shame, I loved command.

Could go for a command like game where you pick your squadron rather than just follow individual characters.

Star Fox (Fox, Falco, Peppy, Slippy)
Star Wolf (Wolf, Leon, Andrew, Panther)
Star Ladies (Krystal, Katt, Miyu, Fay)
The Academy (Bill, Dash, Lucy, and Uhm.... Amanda or slippy's cousin from Guard?)
Another villain team that makes Wolf look good (pick four ex bosses... and Pigma)

I've never seen any official statement that Command isn't canon - only fan ones.
Cuthbert: I think Star Fox has always evolved. There's always a chance to change. Nothing's ever set in stone in the Star Fox universe. Except Storyline.

IGN: Which do you consider to be the one definite ending?

Cuthbert: The canon ending. Hehe. I think if the game continues it won't pick up where the game ends, but start more in the middle.

Imamura: This storyline, ends here, and if there's a continuation it would start from the middle, so it wouldn't depend on any of the endings.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2006/09/07/star-fox-command-interview?page=2

I suppose it's interpreted from here, any "continuation" would rewrite the games ending.

Aha! Thankyou very much - it's interesting to see where those claims arose from!

Still, this means that the characters themselves actually do count, right?

I was lucky enough to get one from Amazon UK before they sold out. Do GAME still have any? Failing that, have you tried to see if Smyths Toys have any for local pick-up, if you have a branch nearby? (Smyths have them listed for £10 cheaper than Amazon and GAME, but the online stock sold out before anyone else's did.)

Very interesting to see Star Fox 2 officially be released. I wonder if it will hold any weight in future Star Fox installments?

Technically the whole game still counts as a canon until a sequel, much to my powerless dismay, the true canon ending is clearly intended to be to the specific person.

Also I had no idea that pre-orders would already be up for them lol, i figured that would be ways off. Rip me I guess.

They're up in the UK. I don't believe they've shown up elsewhere yet, though, so if you're not in the UK, you're still in with a chance!

What about calling them Star Vixen?
It would be really cool to have all the girls on a team together, it would be a far cry from the sausage fest origins of the StarFox series.
I heard somewhere that Krystal got a lot of hate in Japan for ruining Yaoi pairings. Not a clue on how true that is but I wouldn't be surprised.

I have no doubt in my mind that sexism had a big hand in the hate that Krystal got, and I've seen enough female characters be demonised because they're the love interest of one of the main characters in a popular slash pairing, so I'm not surprised, only highly disappointed.

That's very unlikely as no source can back that up, that and the fact that Foxes/Vixens are ridiculously popular there. Now western furries in particular of that line have this irrational hatred toward all the girls for this reason. I thought I was joking myself when speculating such a thing but upon lurking around, it literally has to do with a yaoi shipping headcannon. Others have confirmed it to, and what's worse is how hostile some get over it.

Huh, I guess wires got crossed between that and a "Krystal isn't as popular in Japan" story somewhere down the line.

INFORMATION WANTS TO BE WRONG!

How...confirmed is that? I've been under the impression that the hate came from the fact that she showed up after the Precious Childhood Memory that was 64, drawing the ire of certain people who were overly nostalgic about 64 and never wanted anything about the series to change.

That, and the people who were secretly attracted to her and tried to ruin her reputation because that made them uncomfortable. Hey, did anyone just hear the opening notes of Hellfire?

Just because, i'd advise posting a ton of images if Krystal in the Twitter posts. Bonus if the images have Krystal, Katt, Miyu, and Fay.

NoJ https://twitter.com/Nintendo/status/879490647433945088 (Huge bonus if you can speak Japanese, otherwise do NOT use google translate unless you're using a better translator)
NoA https://twitter.com/NintendoAmerica/status/879369032947847168
NoE https://twitter.com/NintendoEurope/status/879375387800854528

That a good idea jordansweeto jordansweeto ?
Yup! Great idea.
I've just made a tweet on both of those Nintendo posts with some Krystal gifs to make them stand out! If anyone on our team has a Twitter account please be sure to show your Krystal support now too, it is a very appropriate time to do so!

Very surprised about the Star Fox 2 release news btw, didn't think that would ever happen wow!

Minor things, the new artwork definitely confirms that both the SF2 pilots are female. I mean, there was little to no debate about Fay, what with her Ms. Pac-Man bow but I remember there being some debate on Miyu. I'm fairly certain it was said in some written stuff beforehand though.

Holy crud! STARFOX 2 becomes a reality?!?! Miyu and Fay becoming (somewhat relevant) Nintendo characters by extension???
