I've never really browsed through this thread so I'm asking a simple question: Are Speed Racer or the Samurai Pizza Cats going to be in it, confirmed? if yes, I WILL GET IT!
Neither are confirmed yet, so it's a no so far. Capcom may have some more hidden characters yet to be seen though. I myself was hoping for the Pizza Cats (or just Speedy at least) but I'm not counting on them.

Seriously, why does america have to be such copyright *******? lol.

Looks awesome though, may actually import.

It's not that we're ******* so much as we're greedy b*stards that don't like to share. Tatsunoko's the problem here, and since most of their stuff (what's made the trip over the pond, at least) was made back in the 60s-80s, the lack of a single copyright holder in understandable.

Tokusatsu =/= viable for American television. Power Rangers being the only notable exception I can think of.

Agreed........somewhat.

I'd rather have just a Capcom fighting game. Not to mention that all the Tatsunoko start to meld into each other. They look they their from the same series.

Also, there better be a Resident Evil character, or else.............

I always wondered why Capcom doesn't just make a game with Capcom characters alone?
There's plenty of characters from a plethora of franchises they could use, and it'd give anyone who's a fan of Capcom something to die over.

@Smashchu: Too true. Tatsunoko looks like it's all one big series, rather than a bunch of different ones.

I'm a bit ignorant over this subject, but can you use the Homebrew Channel, or anything of that sort of nature, to play import games?

If not, what do you use for Wii imports?

The Homebrew Channel does have an app for loading out-of-region games...but Nintendo's apparently on a witch hunt for killing the thing with their two/three/fifty most recent updates, so that's not a real reliable method for most of us. At least, it's not for those of us that want to play games online, or do anything online, actually, since Ninty makes you update if you try to log onto the WiFi Connection.

@Tatsunoko looking alike: The heck do you expect? It's (mostly) tokusatsu. Look that word up on Wikipedia, and be amazed at all the things you can learn.

...Anyway, you wouldn't feel that way if you'd watched Casshern or Gatchaman. Seriously, both those shows are awesome, they just lack publicity outside of Japan.

As for why they don't make a Capcom-only game...

Well, I'm probably alone in this, but I think that'd be kind of boring, by this point. I loved the SNK vs. and Marvel vs. games to death, primarily because of the mixing. It just wouldn't be as interesting (or headline-grabbing/hype-generating, for that matter) without the crossover.

They actually did make one. Capcom Fighting Jam/Fighting Evolution had only Capcom characters. They could've made the roster a bit bigger though. It only had characters from SF Alpha, II, III, Darkstalkers, and Red Earth.

This is the very reason why I love these type of crossover games, simply because it has characters from two differnt or multiple universes duking it out which has always been interesting to me.

And to add to that, one of the coolest things about Capcom is that whenever they do a crossover game like this, they always pick companies that otherwise don't seem like obvious picks.

And they always make them awesome. Until I actually played Marvel vs. Capcom, I assumed it was some crappy marketing schill. But obviously, I was wrong.

Tatsunoko really is an awesome company, despite the extreme obscurity in English-speaking places. I, for one, much prefer this to a game with just Capcom characters.

If TvC doesn't come out of japan, in any shape or form whatsoever, that would just be plain evil of Capcom of Japan. They even know MvC is popular over here, keeping us from a new installment just because they decided to cross over with a license thats challenging for poor Capcom of America/Europe to localize, would be the absolute worst thing they've ever done. That would make this the first major capcom fighter to never be released out of Japan, and that's just terrible.

Yeah, I'm probably just going to import it anyway, but it's still unfair to us.

Pretty sure you've got yourself confused with something else.

It's not going to come out here though. Unless that Destructoid theory (they'd use TvC as a foundation for MvC3) comes true, it ain't releasng over here. If the Jump Stars games didn't--two games on a much more popular system than Wii, and that boast much more popular characters--then neither is this.

Nothing is set in stone, here. Capcom USA is working hard to bring it over here:

We'll just have to wait and see.

I'm actually going to hold off getting TvC for the moment. I don't have a Wii, first of all.

It's nice to see Capcom USA acknowledging this game, and knowing that it exists, but I'm not holding out for a localization.

Not to sound rude, but Tokusatsu =/= Japanese Hero

It pretty much means "special effects". Sure, a lot of it are Japanese Hero, but Godzilla is also Tokusatsu. Tokusatsu itself is not a company or such, but a genre.

Anyway, can I spoil you guys with some of the endings? They have some awesomeness in it!

Tekkaman's ending!
Doronjo's ending!
Batsu's ending!

I think like...well, at least a good portion of Tatsunoko's stuff could be described as tokusatsu. I could just call it "live action, formulaic, costumed superhero show", but "tokusatsu" is so much easier, no?

Disappointed to see the endings are only a few CGs, that are probably altered with tiny visual effects. Oh wellz.

From what I heard the Wii version will have animated endings.

GOOD QUALITY YAMI FIGHT

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0sB1wOvGm8&fmt=6

Wait for it to process. Otherwise: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm5467100

Each form deals huge damage.

Your party recovers after each "form", but only because Yami deals so much damage. He also doesn't "freeze" when doing supers.

<3 Okami reference where Yami 2nd form sucks out the Celestial Brush powers from Ammy (in this case Yami sucks it from your character), and when Yami hits your character, black Japanese characters appear!

Each form has its own music - and man, 3rd form... the music made me cry - if only because it reminds me of Okami...

Also, Yami has epic laser of doom!

This game looks like Marvel vs. Capcom on awesome juice, and one can only hope that it comes to the U S of A sometime soon. It also pains me that Europe will have to wait like 20 years to get it.
Heck, Europe would be lucky to get it AT ALL.

and, a bit late, but:

Thing is, JSS had 27 different series, and JUS had 41! All of which were owned by many different companies in the west. Tatsucap only has 8. Capcom USA would only need to contact 5 or so companies, definitely a lot better than JUS's position.

That's for sure, considering the series that we actually got broadcasted/put on DVD over here:

Karas
Gatchaman (first TV series and some remake OVAs are on DVD)
Speed Racer (the original, not the remake)
Tekkaman Blade 1 & 2
Samurai Pizza Cats (not actually in the game, but you never know)
Robot Hunter Casshern (OVA series released by ADV Films)

Along with some lesser quality OVAs of Hurricane Polymer and Time Bokan.

Eh, but, uh...Super Stars had...less than that...?

...Okay fine. You got me. I'm just trying to keep pessimistic about this, because DAMMIT I want to play this game, and you make it sound so easy. :urg:
If Square can pull together three or four companies for Kingdom Hearts...

Touchstone's involved in it too, as part of The Nightmare Before Christmas. And there's also a note about Tarzan in that opening licensing screen...I think.

You get the idea.

OK, I see, thanks.

And while I'm here, I might add there are no hidden characters (which means no Resident Evil characters). I can post the link, but I'm lazy.

No hidden characters is pretty lame, but we have a decent roster already.
Only lame because of the lack of Resident Evil characters. That's all I needed.

My friend has a hacked Wii, so I'll be able to play this. Of course, if there is a western alternative, I hope we get some RE stuff (and keep Joe).

I know about that game, I own it, personally.
It's garbage, and I'd rather not acknowledge its existence.

Also, my hopes dropping for Ammy to be playable. Pretty lame.

Um...

Nightmare Before Christmas is owned by Disney. Tarzan is owned by Edgar Rice Burroughs or something like that, but he's pulled from KH2. Really, the whole game is owned by Disney save the Square characters and Square-related trademark items.

Anyway, the 6th/FINAL weekly demo vid has been "discovered" (it can be found in the Capcom TvC video site). I uploaded it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IK_VU8n-XZM&fmt=18

Capcom team lost again...

Volnutt still doesn't look that good to me, but he still looks fun to use.

Tatsu once again delivers a victory. This one especially sucks for Batsu at the end.

Well, at least they saved my boy Mega for the final battle trailer. I hate how he was the first to fall, but I love how he gave Daimao a good whoppin'. Yeah, Megaman is going to be my main in this game...if I ever play it.

I'm actually surprised that the videos didn't feature a cross-over team. It literally was Tatsunoko VS Capcom.

Well, Touchstone and E.R.B. are still in the opening credits thing when the game boots up, so...they're involved in some way, at least.

You know what I mean. It's not a perfect example, but it's better than nothing, right?

Well, Capcom gets enough glory as it is. It's only fair to let Tatsunoko shine a bit, since not many people even know who Tatsunoko is and what they'll bring to the table.
Which is probably why Tatsunoko gets first mention in the actual title of the game.

...In fact, it's like that with every Vs. Capcom game, innnit? I guess they're just a really humble company.
