What's up everyone.

Today I'm presenting along with HAT and a few other TO's in this area, the MD/VA Summer Regional Circuit!

After all the events and tournaments lately, I've been talking with a lot of TO's and top players in the region who think we just aren't competing at our maximum. Slikvik said in his power rankings thread that we "used" to be the best region for smash and that there is no reason we can't recapture that title. I agree with that. So in addition to power rankings, I'd like to also introduce the MD/VA Summer Regional Circuit!

The premise of the circuit is simple. Now that college is out, people have plenty of time to practice and get together with friends. I'd like to take this opportunity to capture everyone at the best time of year to play video games. Also, the unemployment rate in this area is around 7%, I'm sure there are a couple of you that might be looking for work- no better way to make money than to do it playing games!!

Edit: I'm currently discussing holding the finals at the end of october, either 3rd or 4th saturday of the month. Depending on which venue gets back to me first and who has a better deal.

Schedule:

C3 June Judgment Day 6/20 *completed*
Chu Dat's DOJO, Yellow Belt 6/27 *completed*
The Epic of Woodbridge IV 8/8 *completed*
C3 August Assault 8/15 *completed*
Summer Smash II 8/22 *completed*
Ultimate Gaming Zone 9/12 *completed*

Finals to be rescheduled...

So who gets points? It's pretty simple, the top 8 teams and the top 16 placers will get points. The points break down is like this:

Singles:
1st- 40
2nd- 25
3rd- 15
4th- 10
5th- 8
7th- 4
9th- 2
13th- 1

Teams:
1st- 40
2nd- 25
3rd- 16
4th- 8
5th- 4
7th- 2

Also, I want to announce the official rules for the circuit and "judges"

Basically, as for rules, it will be up to each individual TO at each event we go to. It shouldn't be an issue for the most part. If you have any questions about the rules at an event, please ask them BEFORE you play!

As for our "judges", right now Tantalus (me), HAT, and G-regulate are our judges for the circuit. They have the right to DQ people, should that situation arise. Hopefully it won't.

One last thing: I will try to provide a LIVE STREAM for all of these events. If you can't be here to participate, you should watch and learn! We will strive to put the best matches on the live feed.

Around the time NJ "surpassed" us as the best region, they had the "Blue Battle Circuit" going on, which helped their competitive play. It's time to do the same! I hope to see you at our first event at C3 and I look forward to seeing you at a tourney soon!

whatever the DQ rules for that tourney are

basically

A. no one knows where you are and you're not there for your match
B. you break the rules (D3 infinite or something along those lines)

U guys should count that woodbridge tourney last week as a part of the circuit since everyone was there (aside from Azen) =). Also, include my dojo in this as well.

I was actually considering asking about the DOJO...we won't be able to have another Serious event for a while (July4th and Genesis will interfere with normal turnouts), then we're back to C3 again, which I don't want to make C3 an event back to back months, want to give other hosts an opportunity to have an event.

Right now i'm planning an event at the hagerstown venue on July 25th. Chu if you're cool with it the DOJO will become event #2. I just don't want to wait a month for another circuit event, the hype dies a bit.

Also chu check the MD/VA circuit group, I hadn't checked it in a while and just looked at it today...

Edit:
Also, i can't really just consider the woodbridge event a circuit event, that seems kinda unofficial, so lets just keep it to what we've planned. So right now it's looking like:

C3 June Judgment Day event 1
Chu Dat's DOJO event 2 (6/27)
Summer Smash #2, event 3 (7/25)
Epic of Woodbridge IV, event 4 (8/8)
and i think we'll have an event 5 or 6 before the final event at ACE in Catonsville.

Agreed 100%, its not fair for people who only might plan on coming to circuit events(I sure saw a lot of old faces at c3 I hadn't in awhile) to get screwed cause we count one that wasn't supposed to be in it.

i personally wouldn't mind if only singles counted

but then again, i have no points in teams, so my opinion holds little weight

i think it's funny that the people who have points in dubz want it to stay, while the people with points in singles don't care either way, but then again greg has points in both

not accusing anyone, i'm doing it too, it's just funny
