So...I know every one is blowing out of proportions and what not (looking at you media). But I learned yesterday that a student at my school got Swing Flu.

No it isn't me (last time I got sick was a year ago, and lasted only a day
), but the city is going haywire. It doesn't help that for some STRAGE reason that Catholic schools are getting the flu (2 so far), but now people are getting the "cold" shoulder so to say *yea I'm horrible*

Classes for me have been somewhat deserted and all. A majority of people got sent home due to plainly coughing in class. I mean its pretty contagious being the flu and all, and staff don't want us getting sick (well there maybe a few expectations). To add that a majority of students in my grade (12) went on a week long trip, so now the classrooms have been a bit easier to breath in so to say.

the media has blown this story WAY out of the water. dont worry, its not any worse than getting the normal flu, in fact, the normal flu has a higher fatality rate than the swine flu, i have been sick for about 3 days now, im not positive its swine flu, but im feeling much better with over the counter medicine and good old fashion chicken soup and cartoons!

They didn't close down your school? Mine didn't close down either because, as my Form Tutor iterated, "It's already in the neighborhood, so closing down the school wouldn't really make much of a difference."

I still fear about getting it. I've never had anything worse than a cold and chicken pox, and flu is supposedly worse than that. I know it's not meant to be any deadlier than ordinary flu, but still.. :urg:

Hopefully this epidemic will blow over soon enough without too many... casualties...

the best/only thing you can really do is make sure to get plenty of vitamin C, and lots of rest. thats the only preventions that really work, other than getting a vaccine.

I might have gotten swine flu a couple weeks ago. My doc didn't do the tests but gave me the same meds for swine flu. If I did have it then, trust me, it's nothing bad. Just get to the doc asap and get some tamiflu, the morning after I took it I felt way better.

I love how Sine flu was the hot topic for a week, daily updates on the 'death toll' and severe cases, only for it to disappear the next week.

Seriously, it's no big deal, treat it like the normal flu and you'll be fine.

My tutor place had a case of swine flu, people still went to class, there were no fatalities.
