Edit: I didn't seem to know this, but how does everybody know that each character have hidden stats? How are for example some small characters like baby Luigi and baby Peach better than Toad? Also how come Funky Kong is the best? How have these item stats been officially determined? I am so lost right now.

I've been using Toad for years and I didn't know that apparently some characters are better than others.
