SWF College Outreach: Southwest Chapter ~Last Call

College is a big thing for most of you out there, and by no means do I want to detract from your studies and experiences in the classroom (which I encourage by all means), you know what else is awesome? All of the extra curricular activities you can partake in - now what if we added Smash into the picture?

Getting better attendance at tournaments, organized play, better practice, and much more. These are some of the things we can hope by spreading the word about Smash World Forums and Smash Organizations alike through the US. I will be heading a project to help spread awareness of such groups, and provide support for others in the creation and upkeep of these organizations along with others through the SWF College Outreach Program.

Still in the early parts of it, step 1 is something simple. I would like to find out which Smashers here currently go to, or have attended college, along with a simple question or two. If this applies to you, it would be a big help to fill out the couple of questions at the end of this post, it should take no more than a minute to fill out!

Yes, it is called Smash Club.

I definitely support encouraging other universities to start Smash organizations. It's a great way to build a local Smash community, to get together a variety of people that share a passion for this deep, competitive video game series for much fun and improvement! We do not have a Smash organization. We do however, have an anime organization, and run a yearly video game tournament. Although Smash wasn't included, it was considered at one point.

It's called Gamers on Campus. They host a yearly Smash tournament as well as other tournaments.

There is both an anime club and a game club. The game club is simply called the TAMUG game club where many games are played and it's just been created as of yesterday (or might as well have been), so its future isn't certain, but at least it's looking bright. I only know so far that I and the club president himself are interested in competitive Melee and he may be the only one in the club interested in competitive Brawl, but I plan to play both with him when I can either way. Maybe we'll get more people interested in both the game club and (competitive) Smash, but as for now it's up in the air. Thought I should mention it, though, on the very off-hand chance that somebody on Smashboards other than myself is going to or considering TAMUG.
