.....found a couple cases of "Gold the Hedgehog", one being a Silver recolor (for obvious reasons) and a girl hedgehog, which isn't at all a recolor of any existing character that I know of, so that's pretty cool.

I didn't think I'd find "Golden the Hedgehog".
But I did.

It's a Shadow recolor.

I can live with that.

I know its cool to not like the Adventure series these days. But Id be lying if I said I didn't absolutely love Sonic Adventure 2 back in the day.

I get that Sonic 06 was essentially meant to be Adventure 3, but it isn't.

I just want a game titled "Sonic Adventure 3".

I wasn't aware that many people hated SA. I find that very hard to believe. Aside from a few missions I found those games to be quite enjoyable.

I don't dislike her, but I like most of the other playable characters more since they are more interesting.

On the other hand, I really like Irina. She's really badass, but also a bit abrasive and edgy, making her more interesting. If you took elements of Irina and Elma and fused them together you'd have a great character.

The hate on the SA games has always been a thing. It's just getting more and more vocal, but it has been noticable for a very long time. Game Grumps only amplified it.

Well, I am obviously speaking in the context of fiction, I can't see anyone saying "No" to an actual, real, perfect, person, which would be a spectacle as it doesn't exist.

(Personally, I wouldn't date a perfect person, for various reasons.)

Conversely, in a story a person who's good at everything isn't very interesting. This is fine when they're a side character, but for a character battling with Cross for the starring role, she should have more depth.

I am, again, not TOO far in Xenoblade Chronicles X, so...she could have a evil side or a morally ambiguous history I don't know about.

As someone who had those issues (minus breast size).

Those things can eat up your life man. It makes everything miserable and makes you feel like you HAVE to be perfect.

It ruined me for years.

I guess it's why I recognize that as a big flaw.

Because Cordelia was basically me for years.

All things considered, as of Chapter 5 and a handful of Affinity Missions, the story is pretty solid so far. So the only way Elma could stay as boring to me as she is now is if they writers actively tried to do nothing interesting with her.

She has the best voice-acting in the game though. I was worried they'd give her a high-pitched anime-sounding voice in the NA dub, but she sounds extremely natural. I was honestly enamored by Elma's voice when I began the game because of how surprised I was that it's good.

BTW, me liking Lin has little to do with her being an interesting character.
She's just super-duper cute.

The degree of quality in writing depends on
(1) importance of character. If it's a background character, one can expect them to be less round and more flat simply due less time dedicated to them. In Awakening, and most FE games, there are tons of characters and most of them are secondary status immediately due to permadeathability. In this way Cordelia's flatness (no pun intended) is no big deal.
(2) impact of trait. If the trait is actually demonstrated to negatively effect the individuals' actual interactions with the real world, then it's not lazy at all.
Apart from inner psychological angst, nothing 'bad' (gameplay or story wise) ever comes from Cordelia's flaw, so I agree it's bad writing in that sense. It's still a flaw.

I could say that BOB PROTAGONIST GUY has the TERRIBLE trait of arrogant bragging pride, but if everything expressly told in the story ends up peachy for him and his interactions with others it's either because of **** writing or I'm writing a dystopia / grimdark about how the world rewards jerkbutts (tends to sound very preachy simply because it doesn't jive with popular (and completely true) notions, so the author has to go to lengths for the neanderthal reader to 'get it') or something ******** like that. On the other hand, if I show that other people genuinely hate them for their arrogance, or that their bragging backs them into a corner, well, then that's better writing.

People haven't "always" hated the Adventure games. For their times, they were fantastic. The problem lies in how horridly they've aged as well as how much has been "exposed" because of said age. There's a reason so many people claim that SA2 was one of the best games ever, because at the time (2001) it really WAS pretty cool. Actually, both SA1 and 2 are almost testimates to the Dreamcast itself.... Amazing for its time, but quickly got outclassed and outdone.

I do feel Arin/Egoraptors complete distain of Sonic certainly didn't do Adventure 1 any favors. For the record, I tried replicating the glitch where he warped on top of the loop in Emerald Coast... You have to be doing something very specific and borderline INTENTIONALLY to make that happen. I'm not screaming conspiracy theory, and I'm not saying SA's scripted segments are really that sound to begin with, but Arin has such an obvious vendetta against Sonic as a whole and it's pretty irritating at times. I don't usually let myself get angry over Youtubers of all things, but I was grinding my teeth at Danny's comment of "Sonic Boom eat your heart out" at the end. Dan's lack of video game knowledge really does make him so easy for Arin to mold.

Don't take any of that too seriously... I've honestly just grown a bit of a grudge/distain against Arin for several reasons.
