Some more loose thoughts about Smash DLC... Longer than I expected, so I put them inside a spoiler tag.

My problem with characters being cut doesn't come from the fact other characters are in instead, but the fact they aren't along with them.

Yeah, I could get back to Brawl to play as Snake and Wolf, which honestly is fine and all, but what if I wanted to have Wolf vs. Mewtwo, Snake vs. Bayonetta or Ice Climbers vs. Rosalina? What about a 3v3 fire vs. water match with Roy, Captain Falcon and Charizard in one side and Squirtle, Greninja and Corrin on the other?

It's almost frustrating, though I'm well aware of development constraints and all that. Still, I'm happy that Mewtwo, Roy and Lucas were given a second chance through DLC. After all, only 7 veteran characters (6 if you don't count Young Link, since Toon Link fulfills a nearly identical role from Brawl onward) were excluded.

Considering they did want to bring back as many veterans as possible and even added 21 newcomers on top of that, I'd say it is an impressive feat.

Also, about Bayonetta, I've seen complaints about her not being iconic to the degree of the other guests which is true, but honestly, she fits Smash Bros. quite well on the grounds she's the only third party character in Smash which the series she comes from has had all of its games on Nintendo systems, given how Bayonetta 1 had a Wii U remastering along with the Wii U exclusive Bayonetta 2.

Of course, it bears mentioning that the only reason Bayonetta 2 exists is because Nintendo was the only publisher willing to fund it, publish it and help the game's development and marketing. I feel that's why Sakurai went with the Bayo2 look as the default costume, as it's the one from the Nintendo exclusive game.

I don't think Sakurai has done an original IP for a long time since Kirby, so IDK.
Super Smash Bros? It was technically a new IP....

Also, wasn't there this one game for the DS he apparently also worked on? Or something along those lines..... Can't recall if that was an original IP though.

Sakurevivals?
I think R.O.B. would be a decent priority.
Sakurai seems to like the guy. :drshrug:

Duck hunt rising

A crossover between uprising and duck hunt and a revival of duck hunt, and a sequel to uprising.

The war between the humans and demons begins again and escalates quicker then expected.

A simple hunter is out with his dog one day, when the war comes to his homefront. Shocked and powerless, the hunter remains defeated and watches in horror as his faithful dog is turned into a 3 headed monster. Hades arises and chuckles, now with a new weapon, Hades lays siege to the surface world.

Palutena, Pit, Virdi, and Dark Pit learn they must work together to stop this war. As Pit is called to the surface world, he finds the now dead hunter. Not wanting another causality, his sole is brought back to the heavens. Palutena tries her best and manages to revive the fallen hunter.

Awakened to new surroundings, he learns what happens, and becomes filled with motivation and new life, and wants to fight Hades and saved the world.

Skeptical at first, the uprising gang manages to make the hunter a powerful ally!

Together they work together to stop hades once and for all!

As for the ducks? The hunter had stopped hunting them long ago and his dog befriended them. Now in the hunters time of need, the ducks are ready to help anyway they can!

There's your new game right there!

I'm not even kidding when I say I'd play the hell out of this!
Oh, for a second there I thought you meant Duck Hunt Rising. An action packed hack n slash starring the cybord dog with his robo duck companion on there quest to destroy the ultimate weapon: Duck Hunt. Also includes political messages critisizing modern gaming through it's angsty and badass boss themes.

Rather long response :p
This is also something that ties in to the argument I brought up a little while ago.
Where people said veterans should stay cut because you can play as them in the game they were introduced in.
Which was a very stupid because that means all of the originals from 64 would of stayed on the N64 version of Smash Bros.
I am happy to think that Ice Climbers are pretty much a given for Smash 5 (Along with the 4 cut veterans that returned) But the main thing I can see happening in Smash 5 is even more cut characters.
We have six third parties. And I think only three of them are safe next game.
Sonic is more likely than not a Smash Veteran now.
Megaman got in through the same way Sonic did. Being a highly requested third party character.
Pacman was put in due to Bandai Namco helping out with this iteration and Miyamoto would have quite liked to see him be in the game even back with Brawl.
I really can't tell if the three ~DLC Third parties are certain for return.
I think the order would be Ryu, Bayonetta and then Cloud but even then I really don't know at this point.
We also have the two direct Clones being Dark Pit and Lucina.
I want to see them in either Smash 5 (Or the an NX Port) get some revamps to their move sets just like the Doc got because of Mario now using flood or Roy who is very different to how he was back in Melee and it shows now when comparing to Marth.
I honestly think cutting any of the characters in Smash 4 to Smash 5 would be a good step back. This is why I think they should just expand on the current Wii U game if an NX Smash comes to be. Give the Wii U a few or all the 3ds stages. Bring back a few more returning stages while adding new ones as well.
Bring back the remaining veterans while adding some new characters. Add New Modes for Both Single player and Online.
But hey, As it is, I think the Current Smash Games. Are beyond Perfect :)

Persona 5 might get delayed again :drflip:
If this keeps up the PS3 version for the West may be canceled and we'll only get the PS4 version as is the case with Star Ocean 5 and JoJo Eyes of Heaven...welp, time to start saving for a PS4.

I want R.O.B. to get something.

I imagine his revival as a sci-fi film.

Professor Hector and his daughter are stranded on an uncharted planet.

After realizing that the robot with fighting capabilities was damaged, they activate the cargo robot.

They then tell him that he is a battle robot and he needs to go out and find parts they can use to rebuild their ship.

R.O.B. has to explore and find all the parts while coming to grips that he is not in fact a battle robot. Just a lowly cargo robot.

I imagine that the platforming could take advantage of him flying and would have a vertical emphasis as he would stack things up to reach platforms and stuff.

He can later be outfitted with laser and gyro abilities that he can use for combat.
We already got a ROB film. It's called WALL•E. :troll:

Jokes aside, I don't want a platformer, or at least a 2D one. His abilities would work well in a Zelda-like 3D environment though.

now i kind of want a fire emblem fighting game. it's one of those series to where it has enough characters that a fighting game would actually work... See Injustice, Pokken, and FF Dissidia.

So I just bought, beat, and 100%'d the Castle of Illusion remake.

These guys knew what they were doing when they remade the game, no 1-1 HD port, but a true re-imagining, it really feels like what the game could have been back in the day had they the hardware of today. Grant Kirkhope is also a huge boon.

Now I just wish they were doing a World of Illusion remake too, I played the hell out of that game as a kid.

Actually, I think he would need several new abilities to work in a 3D platformer. Look at Mario - he is essentially defined by the many kinds of jumps and other maneuvers he can make.

Something closer to the Wind Waker, that seems more like his place, and could use your ideas better. ROB's Smash moveset seems a rather perfect fit in a Zelda adventure - he has a launchable gyro, a laser to aim and shoot, and a rotating move just like Link.

And considering he's a robot, he can attach and detach the whatever the ROB accessory did for different abilities... Hmm, I'll be looking forward to the Legend of ROB - Gyromite of Time.

So...
Sasuke in Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon?

Edit: For those who don't know, it was a hidden gem of the N64 with a very Zelda-esque sense to it and a total of four playable characters you could switch between on the Fly. Sasuke was short, focused a fair bit on speed, and was a robot/living doll of a ninja who eventually got a rocket pack which made him /the/ platforming character.

And speaking of Sakurai's new game, I think it will be another IP revival like Kid Icarus was. Any of the ones that appeared in Captain Rainbow are ripe for the taking, I'd say.

The Goemon games....
Are INCREDIBLY Japanese.
Like...
If you took Japan.
Took it into a blender.
Then did jelloshots with the goop.
You'd go on a high that'd make you make the Goemon games.
Which means they never took off that well internationally.
But at the same time.
It's gloriously Japanese.
