So, after seeing some discussion on the topic, it just came to me how bad it's going to be a FE fan next Smash game (whenever that happens).
You'll have people saying Lucina should be cut because "she's a clone, can"t change her, demote to an alt". You'll have people hoping that Roy makes his return (Guy has it hard enough). People will discuss if Robin or Corrin will be "replaced". And the worse part is if you so much as even discuss a new FE character.
I'm expecting possibly one other FE game to come out before the next Smash game. If one so happens to come out, there will most likely be a character from that game that people will want (Possibly because of love for the character or what they could bring to the table). However, because of the 6 FE characters we have, people will shoot the idea down because we already have too much. Which then begs the question: If Smash continues on for years to come, and new FE games come out, should we not add anymore characters from the series simply because we "already have enough"? I understand adding characters from other series (Even Sakurai showed his thoughts on adding yet another FE character), but if the character is well received and wanted, then I don't see no reason to add them.
I also hope Greninja fans don't go through the same problem Lucario went through. Guessing a gen 7 (Somehow even a gen 8) is pretty likely, but you know there's going to be people who will bring up how they should replace Greninja.
By that time, almost all of us will be in our 20's and 30's (maybe hitting 30 for me) so I hope the boards will be civil as long as the kids (and some adults) of the next gen don't go all ape **** cra...actually scratch that the whole board will crash once Ridley gets deconfirmed again
You have NO idea how much I had to fight tooth and nail for Roy, Ike, Lucario, and Lucas and they all came back. Wolf was the only one I was disappointed with who didn't return for whatever reason and at this point he will become the Roy of 5mash.
Robin was one I didn't like at the time because I went as far as arguing that he wasn't the Lord (technically he is as if he's dead, it's an automatic game over) and I felt pissed when he got in. After months to calm down, at least he seems like a good character to use and I fear he, Lucina, and Corrin are going to get the Ike treatment for the next game.
...lord help us if any dumbass talks about how Falco shall be removed
I do think we'll lose a Gen 1 mon, though--they're made more expendable with how many of them there are in a series that continues to move forward, and Sakurai has shown he wants to give more modern characters an equal chance. I think either Jigglypuff or Mewtwo will miss out, with a small chance of both being cut, and there'll be one or two newcomers from Gen 7 or 8 (whichever is the newest at the time).
I don't know about that. I would choose Jiggs over Mewtwo, but she earned her spot. Not to mention that she was almost cut in Brawl, so at that time, the "original 12" comment wasn't much debatable. Now? I think all of the four 1st gen will stay with Mewtwo possibly getting the DLC treatment again. All are pretty iconic and I don't really see a reason for any of them to get the axe now. Wonder if the new Gen 7/8 Pokemon will be grass type to complete the unholy trinity?
As far as the roster goes, the newcomers in this game was the best yet. Rich in varieties in characters, I don't think I've ever debated heavily on what a roster should look like until this game. The funny thing is Cloud is the only character who has debuted in the 1990's to make the roster, yet everyone else is from the 80's, 00's, and 10's. To me, it looks like we may have some 90's for 5mash whenever it comes out. I was disappointed with some characters (Doctor Mario returning, Dark Pit and Lucina being clones, Robin which I warmed up to, Bayonetta winning the ballot, Corrin pulling a Roy for advertising), the newcomers were extremely well done. It will be difficult to top the newcomers from this game and I can see if this is truly the last game, Sakurai went out with a gigantic bang
