Although the reason for representation of 7 over the other FFs is obvious at this point, I do hope we at least get an extra music track or two from the other games. FF4 Battle Theme 2, FF5 Battle on the Big Bridge, FF6 Dancing Mad, FF8 Don't be afraid, FF13 Blinded By Light, FF10 Summon Battle (That would work especially well given Midgars gimmick actually), etc.

I mean it doesn't matter in the long run frankly, 7 still has insanely good music and I'll be happy with that alone. It's something I wish Megaman had done as well, but it makes sense why they stayed consistent with Classic Era songs only.

The Kirby fandom is actually quite big and isn't exactly perfect either.

There is a lot of back and forth in the fandom regarding post-Sakurai Kirby games being good or not, back and forth about whether Super Star or Kirby 64 is the best game in the series from older fans, some Meta Knight fans are no better than those elitist Shadow fans you might find in the Sonic fandom ("MUH EDGY SORD CHARCTER IS BETTER THAN EVERYONE BECAUSE OW THE EDGE" - Note: I do not think Meta Knight is actually an edgy character and I actually very much enjoy him, but yeah some of his fans act like he's the baddest, darkest mo-fo ever), back and forth over whether or not Air Ride is actually a good game, back and forth regarding the anime being good or not, and regarding Smash reps, I've seen heated discussions of "Bandana Dee VS Adeleine VS Magalor".

Oh yeah, forgot about the pre and post-Sakurai made Kirby games that occasionally get brought up.

I suppose certain cases like Sakurai couldn't be helped since he wanted to move on from Kirby if I recall correctly. (or having to make sequels in general)

The best example of what hype culture can do is none other than Ridley.

There was a time when even suggesting or arguing about the possibility that Ridley wouldn't be playable was enough to draw the ire of fans and be obnoxiously labelled as a hater. This is a "for us or against us" mentality that is particularly repulsive and not healthy for a community.

In regards to the "for us or against us" mentality...

I remember during the infamous April Direct when Ridley was teased as a boss character, the support thread took a turn for the worst against itself. If I recall correctly, a flame war erupted over those who saw the writing on the wall and accepted their losses, and those who decided to cling onto shadow conspiracy theories and would fight to the bitter end. Most of the thread wanted nothing to hear from worst case scenarios, so those who did were considered traitors unworthy of the cause (even when ChronoBound (remember him?) gave up during the Pyrosphere reveal from the year before, he wasn't taken seriously). It was a very ugly case of the backfire effect.

With that said, though, Ridley fans really did take a beating from basically anybody not from Smashboards during this time period, so I don't think that helped out. Now, I fear whether or not K. Rool fans will suffer the same fate, especially when you consider the overlap between the two fan-bases and the scary amount of similarities between their situations.

IIRC a SEGA rep did actually comment on this once. Apparently a Mario and Sonic platformer is unlikely because Miyamoto doesn't see eye to eye with Takashi Iizuka and the other SEGA guys in terms of how it would be handled

Miyamoto ruins everything these days. Except Hyrule Warriors and Mario Maker.

I still don't see why they don't do an RPG though, mainly because the DS version of the first Winter Olympics actually had a "sports RPG" mode with a story and everything. At the very least, if they are running out of ideas for the Mario & Luigi series, have the next game be what Paper Jam is except replace Paper Mario stuff with Sonic stuff.

Do it in the style of the Dark Brotherhood and that could make for an amazing crossover!

The problem that stems from that though is that Sakurai is, for obvious reasons, VERY biased towards his own Kirby titles rather than the newer ones. Besides a few music tracks and Kirby's new Final Smash, literally everything else is from GB to 64. Kirby is the only Nintendo Character that is still very much relevant today/ still gets games on a consistent basis that doesn't have a stage from his more recent outings. Just Super Star and... Super Star. And 64.
So it definitely makes a kind of rift for those who enjoy the modern Kirby Games.

Where you can get your Skell you mean? It's after Chapter 6, it's a side quest, and a REALLY tedious one at that. The game will make you fully aware when you can get it though, so don't worry about missing it.

But as far as I can tell, no. But I've barely had my Skell for any time at all by this point, and there's still the flying model down the road. So maybe? It'd make a nice DPS weapon.

Honestly, like you, I never got the "edgy" vibe from Meta Knight. He's honestly a lot more like Zorro than anything else, what with the whole "mysterious masked warrior" thing. Didn't help that Right Back At Ya solidified it with his accent.

The good thing about XCX is because the game is so dense and there's so much in it that you don't run into spoilers that often. Unlike Undertale who's whole thing is based of story and puzzles so it's kinda hard to talk about it without spoilers.

Well, of course popularity is important, as Sakurai stated that it's going to be fanservice from now on, and considering we haven't gotten swimsuit DLC, he's obviously talking about the literal definition which every single DLC character we have gotten so far qualifies as.

I'm probably being REALLY paranoid here, but... I still feel slightly concerned that Cloud doesn't have a date still on the Smash Site. I mean the obvious conclusion is that he's going to be out on/the day after the Direct, but I feel if it was really that soon, they'd put something other than TBA on the site, you know? Even Lucas and Mewtwo had a general timeframe for their releases.

Again, this is just me being super, SUPER paranoid. Someone quell my doubts please.

For those interested, the Lucas amiibo is up on Amiami for preorder, releasing in Japan mid this month. I'm actually slightly surprised it's still available for preorder, but I guess these things aren't hard to find anymore.
