Anyone remember this game?

I randomly decided to play Wario World yesterday and had a blast.
This game is basically my introduction to the greatness that is Wario. It's a really unique game, a combination of a beat-em-up and a collectathon platformer.

Its only issue is being extremely short; I 100% beat the game in about 3 hours.

I wonder when we'll ever get a sequel with a co-op mode starring Wario and Waluigi.
I remember playing a lot of this game when I was young, mostly just re-fighting the bosses (except the final boss, that one was reeeally lame compared to the Japanese version). The instruction booklet, of all things, was what really stuck out to me, it's like Wario peronally written it himself.
Wario World is one of the more bizarre games I've ever played. The enemies look really weird.
Red. Brief. J.

I spent the longest time trying to figure out how to beat this *******.

If you guys enjoy Mystery Dungeon games, you should try Etrian Mystery Dungeon
I just hope you don't play them for the story
Unfortunately, there's a huge division among RPG players that play for an engrossing story and those who play to build powerful characters and survive dangerous dungeons.

You have no idea how many times I've tried recommending Etrian Odyssey, Shin Megami Tensei or Legend of Grimrock only for people to be turned off by the lack of story.

What? The final boss is different in the Japanese version?
Tell me more plz.

EDIT: Wow a second phase.

So I just saw Rabbid's new video and I just gotta ask.

What are your five favorite ROM hacks? I'll start with mine
-Sonic: The Next Level
-Sonic: The Very Useful Engine
-CrazySonic
-Sonic: Eggs on Toast Edition
-Somari the Adventurer in Sonic 1 (literally only for the Mushroom Kingdom level, it looks phenomenal.

The Sonic ROM hacking community is just the best one.

I didn't count mods for more recent games though since they aren't ROMs to begin with.

Still, I can kinda see why.
For RPGs, it's become commonplace to have some big grand story. And for many it's become a big part of the experience, if not more so than the gameplay.

Not saying the games like SMT or EO are bad. Far from it. But for many they don't necessarily come for the gameplay (or at least, not as much as plot).

With me, I would prefer RPGs have good gameplay AND good story.

I kinda prefer this with any game really to be honest, but especially with RPGs.

I can do without the story though if the gameplay is fun enough. Hell, I went for the Speedrunner trophy in Kingdom Hearts recently which required I skip all of the cutscenes.

Surprised as the lack of mention of Sonic 1 Megamix. That hack is hella impressive in what it can do. It even became a Sega CD game. lol

The level design was a bit faulty though.

I've played it and liked it quite a bit.

But it was a long time ago and I never got past the first couple of levels just cuz I got caught up in other stuff.

The problem with that hack is that the latest build isn't properly available to the public. It got leaked but it was an unstable build so I didn't play it.

I played eariler versions which basically got me into the Sonic ROM hack scene, but they aren't as impressive to me these days. Still cool though. I look forward to the finished product though.

Ah yeah, I remember hearing about that leak. I heard they're still working on the game? Not sure. If so, I'm glad, the game is really shaping up to be amazing.

Man, I used to mess with Sonic rom hacking back when I was like 11, I would love to give it a serious shot again someday.

User was warned for this post
It's not the lighting or the angle. They are clearly smaller than in Smash.

Here's a picture from Smash at a front angle and in literally the exact same location.

They're far bigger than they were in Wii Fit. And that's not even getting into characters like Peach or Palutena.
And here are pics from the wii fit games (wii and wii U versions)

Note how they look bigger than the original pic you posted even though theyre the same model? (well the first and third ones are ) Also note how you can barely tell depth in all but the middle pic.

The picture you posted has clear areas where the shading was baked onto the model. Note how even though her boobs seem to protrude they're almost flush with her lower abdomen.

Here are some more pics from Smash

They are by no means "far bigger". It's lighting and shading.
It's very similar in effect to a woman with a small behind but a nice "smile". The darker area gives the illusion of greater depth.

Now I can see her boob being barely bigger, but that more so due to a higher polygon budget allowing them to be rounder/smoother than it is a fanservice move.

It's still in development I believe, it's just really slow. Isn't it made by Stealth (or at least he's a major developer on it)? He was hired to make the Sonic 1 and 2 remakes for SEGA, and has been working on getting is S3&K remake prototype greenlit by SEGA now, which is probably why Megamix has taken a back seat.

They are still way bigger actually. That CGI screenshot is all you need, they are more than twice as large.

But apparently we can't talk about this anyway so you shouldn't have brought it up again. *shrug*

I played a demo for Etrian Odyssey or something on the 3DS.

I thought it was pretty fun and the demo was fairly big. The battle theme was also amazing.
If the standard battle theme was amazing, then it must have been EOIV :p
And yeah, the demos have a decent amount of content, the two Untolds go until the 3rd floor
I'm not sure on IV tho since I didn't play it

I love RPGs like EO because I like customization and seeing my characters grow to the point they can easily take down bosses and stuff
Though I still enjoy certain Story based RPGs like Chrono Trigger
Which is weird when everyone loves Pokemon
Also, hey, an EO fan, I don't see many here :p

And the thing is that RPGs were never supposed to have a grand story and stuff, it was that Square kind of introduced that concept
They started as adaptations to tabletop RPGs, which obviously required the plot to come from the players

Tweaker is the creator, but Stealth has a major hand in it.

From what I hear though, SEGA said no to S3&K remaster which makes me sad. I REALLY do hope they make SEGA reconsider though because it's seriously like one of my favorite games of all time.

I remember this rom hack of the first two Sonic games where you could switch between Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles at any time.

Literally never any reason to even bother with Sonic when the other two can just fly over everything.
Y'know, that might have been the point where I just kind of stopped caring about Sonic.

Speaking of rabbidluigi, I liked his first countdowns, now however it's more like :

- "Hey my dear subscribers ! I'm out of ideas for my next short countdown ! Do you have some ideas ?"

*after a poll in which the subscribers voted for the idea they would like to see*

- "Alright ! I'm gonna do lots of research on those games I've never played and making with those a countdown on that selected idea with a over-complicated sentence for the ending !"

I miss the old Chaos Theater days, the Autarch of Flames, Mediamaster127, ItionoBen... *sigh*

We still have Joshscorcher though.

I think that one is Sonic 2 Heroes.

They also added at least Team Chaotix onto it and some other ones.

Rabbid does make sure to play the games, as mentioned in the ROMhack video, he also played them, and he makes sure he knows what he's talking about. He's not like Watchmojo who let the audience pick absolutely everything.

Alex retired, Josh and Mediamaster are busy and Itionoben's parents shut down his internet life and treated him like **** for making any videos on the internet in the first place

I now have over 10150 Stars in Super Mario Maker. -w- Yay.

My new Stage: "Nightly Cage Scare Run!"
yeah, my names sucks.

It is a ugly Stage, but I think it works pretty well. Can you survive the Flying Cage is Horrors?!

Sonic 3 Complete
Sonic the Very Useful Engine
CrazySonic
Sonic Zoom (for the graphics alone)
An Apeeling Sonic Hack

Well, to be honest it also has something to do with the fact that the core game play of an RPG is pretty unappealing except to the most hardcore of nerds. Very few people actually like sitting around in menus fine tuning your characters and then watching numbers bounce around while you take turns whacking monsters.

I mean, I think it's fun. But not a whole lot of other people do.

I love RPGs like EO because I like customization and seeing my characters grow to the point they can easily take down bosses and stuff

I feel like Pokemon's success despite being a relatively old school RPG at its core comes from nostalgia. I feel like if people didn't have good memories of watching the anime and collecting and playing the cards along side the game it would be a somewhat niche series.

I do agree what Sqeenix started it, but I'd point to FFVII which was the first RPG to push the story as a selling point. You have to remember that games like the Eye of the Beholder series were adaptations of table top RPGs and they still have very little in the way of plot too.

Probably because table top RPGs were originally meant to be a Warhammer 40k style wargame on a personal level rather than an immersive storytelling tool.

The only EO I've ever played is Untold, and I thought it was awesome. I wanna play the rest of the series by my backlog is pretty full right now. I'm doing a blind play through of KHBBS right now and once winter break hits I'm planning on doing blind playthroughs of DQIV-VI. Not to mention I have Baten Kaitos on my shelf which I bought in July but still haven't even touched.

I'm right there with ya.

SEGA is just really needlessly cautious with all the Micheal Jackson shinnanigans. I mean it's obvious he was involved in it if Pulp Fiction is anything to go by, but something about the tracks he composed make Sega sweat profusely at the mere mention of. Even with them offering to make new music/the PC versions music, they still won't budge, probably because they don't want them "defiling the game".
I mean I understand their hesitation but... Jackson died YEARS ago, guys. I dunno if you're under NDA or something but this is still pretty rediculous.

And Megamix is still a thing for sure. They're just being very, very slow and quiet about it.

And yes, Sonic 3 complete is the best thing since Sonic 3 & Knuckles. :V

They weren't opposed to releasing them in Wii VC which makes it all the more weird.

Sega clearly isn't scared because of Michael Jackson, otherwise we wouldn't see 3&K rereleases on Steam and such

Funny you mention that actually.

See the ports for the Wii VC and XBL and Sonic's Genesis Collection were all done BEFORE Jackson's death. Meaning whatever is holding them back from releasing it again is almost definitely tied to Jackson.

As well, Sega is pulling Sonic games from a lot of media lately. Including VC games.

Sega clearly isn't scared because of Michael Jackson, otherwise we wouldn't see 3&K rereleases on Steam and such
This is all purely speculation on my end, but I feel like Sega is technically okay releasing Sonic 3... so long as it is not even SLIGHTLY altered in any way at all.
I mean it is their game after all. It's already made and everything on it is their property. They can emulate it. But the minute something needs to be altered, like Taxman's port, they go 100% NOPE.

All of my yes

Improves everything about Sonic 3 and Knuckles (Which was already my favorite) and makes it EVEN BETTER

I especially like the super/hyper changes.
I also love how you can customize it.
Want the Sonic 2 sprite instead of the default one? Go head.
Want to fix Super/Hyper Sonic's sprite so that his spines don't go down at times? As you wish.

Pokemon had things like the anime and the TCG, which helped it massively(Red and Blue actually didn'f sell much at the beginning)
I mean, the reason I even wanted a Pokemon game was for the novelty of having and raising my own Pokemon since I watched the anime since I was little

I only played the two Untold games, U2 is an improvement in every single way of the first so pick it up when you have the chance

I want to buy IV but I'm not a big fan of the portraits(this is really important to me and my RPing) and small class selection compared to the rest of the series
I'm better waiting for EOV news but

I used to be really into turn based RPGs but I only like some these days.

I'm more of an action RPG kinda guy now. Seeing my character get more and more powerful is more fun when my skills as a player can also improve.

HAVE a CD style Spindash, go in the original level order from the beta, bring in Sonic 1 and 2 style monitors, use Genesis Remixes of the PC versions music, fly with Tails as a buddy Taxman Style... MMMM It's so delicious. I need a Flash Cart so I can play it on my genesis man.
