The best scenario is that they bring in a multiplayer mode like Assault's (that was SO fun, and Nintendo could really do with a Halo-esque multiplayer game). They could throw Krystal on as a playable character for that, hell, throw Fay and Miyu on too.

You guys bring up an interesting point.

In the Brawl days, Krystal was a prime candidate. Still relevant... still popular... etc...

Now she seems to have fallen out of that place. I'm not sure if she has a chance at all anymore.

Timing is everything. Many characters are or were in that same position. Robin, Geninja and Shulk, if absent from this game probably wouldn't have been newcomers in the next Smash. Similarly, Isaac and Krystal missed their opportunities.

Their games were recent releases at the time development on their respective debut Smash games started development.

Sakurai has always tried as best as possible to bring back every veteran, though cuts are getting more and more difficult to avoid.

Brawl only lacked 5 characters from Melee out of 26 (19%):

Similarly, with all the DLC released thus far, this game is only lacking 7 characters from previous games out of 44 (16%):

No character from the first game has ever been cut.

Many fighting game franchises have done a lot more cuts than the Smash Bros. series ever had.

Funny thing, outside of any third party character, I believe every Smash 4 newcomer to WILL comeback in the next game. The only doubtful characters are &.

Another thing to note is:
A single series Rep has never been cut unless Limitations have stopped them.

There's only been two, One being: Snake who was clearly not as safe as the others due to him being third party.
(Even though now it could all change as who knows what Sakurai has in store for us.)
And Ice Climbers but even then it's safe to assume if the team ever get them working they will be back, and they are more than likely returning for Smash 5.
So I am going to say it now. I think that All single Series reps will be sticking around.
And if any more single series reps get in (Isaac, Chorus kids, etc.) I will think the same for them too.

It isn't over night though. At least in the USA it has been like over 50 years. I'm not sure of the exact details. Also, I'm not sure how treating each other as equals isn't treating each other fairly. Yeah, it's going on in Canada apparently. But I doubt the citizens are having a big influence on it and it probably more corrupt politicians.

A game with a "Native American" costume isn't going to do anything bad. The costume isn't saying, "this is how all native americans act" but, "this is how one individual who happens to be a part of our fictional natives acts." Thats how all the costumes in the Bravely series have worked so far.

Also, by the idea of "treating Native americans homogeneously" it is impossible to accurately portray them. Because the minute you put one in, what it seems you are saying is that the developers are trying to say is that "this is how all native americans act." Which is not true at all.

Anyway, what are we talking about now? Star fox? Don't care for it myself. Tried Star fox 64 3d and I couldn't get into it.

Letting go becomes ever so difficult when people keep doing the same things and seldom acknowledge an issue. In the US there still BS racial non-sense going on, so no it hasnt been 50 years. It's been 50 years since the US decided to try to make thing more equal. Things are overall better, much better, but things are no where near where they need to be.

The issue with the "native american" garb is that native americans have been stereotyped in that exact way for over a century. What you're essentially saying is "it's been a century since we started doing this, so they should be used to it"; i.e. we've stabbed them for so long that it shouldnt hurt anymore.

And no, it's actually very easy to portray them. Name and base the class after an actual tribe instead of a stereotypical catch-all umbrella that's offensive to 99% of those it's trying to reference. Problem solved.

And for the love of all things good in the world, please stop assuming what people should or should not be offended about. A vast majority of the time those offenses are well founded.

Actually, it was kind of a celebration of one of the only times where pilgrims and native Americans actually worked together in peace. Not that they were perfect, but their relationship was better than any other interaction pilgrims had with natives. If more people had reacted like they did, we would be a very different country now.
