That is correct. Hironobu Sakaguchi directed the game while Nobuo Uematsu composed the music. The name "The Last Story" certainly isn't a coincidence.

Uh, that's similar, though that's really just the basic idea you have when seeing it
But, then again, it was inspired by old school RPGs like Wizardry so I guess Digimon took some pages from it too
