Hey, I'll own up to it: I believed people when they said Villager wasn't going to get in, because the evidence (at the time) was there.

I still find it funny how wrong we all were, though.

A few people took it really badly and ranted about how horrible casual characters being in the game was because they were wasting space that could go towards "cool" fighters.

I was just sitting there enjoying that Mega Man was going to be in and not really minding.

The fandom would be on suicide watch if another Fire Emblem character were added. But there's no telling when Nintendo would force Sakurai to do it again since it's "a major IP" now.

Tell me about it. Fumi Chan Got Smash 4 DLC Right was arguably the worst part of the post-DLC release along with the inevitable breakdown of Wolf, Ice Climbers, Bandanna Dee, and K. Rool's groups.

The only good thing about the ESRB leak is that it made my rection to Mewtwo's (and Lucas and Roy's) return all the more exciting.

I wish I could find the Pic of the Day that was posted for Rayman's trophy on here to see everyone's reaction to it

I still remember the 4chan reaction and everyone flipped their **** and it was hilarity and madness

GameFAQs was the same but then there was old interview that Ubisoft Canada said that Rayman was in the game as a fighter and everyone on there said it was legit

Hindsight being what it is it's easy to look back on previous speculation and think what a bunch of jackasses we were for thinking something that would not end up happening. Sakurai is a human being and it's natural that his viewpoint on something can change (Villager). I.e. We all had a bunch of characters in mind that we were sure were going to be included in the game that didn't become playable (or even worse didn't see the light of day) and characters we were sure that were going to get axed that ended up coming back. Nonetheless, you can still look back on some of these decisions and just question the reasoning and/or sanity of said decision; whether it be a character inclusion or a character non-inclusion (for the sake of not being embroiled in a 3 page flame war with several different users I won't elaborate any further). That being said I do respect Sakurai's work over the years for this series.

Fair enough, but I do think hindsight has also taken quite the toll on it.

One of the first newcomers is one from a beloved quirky RPG that many of you wanted to see on the Wii U eShop. He may have been killed, but his requests were enough to bring him back from the dead to meet his [redacted] in Smash.
