Linkle was a thing way before the first Hyrule Warriors released, but ended up not being in the final game. It was just a question of whether they'd bring her back as DLC or whatever.

There was plenty of evidence that she was still "alive" however, so it wasn't a surprise even if someone leaked something.

Why third party was the biggest deal to you?

I was conflicted between Cloud and Sonic, but I eventually decided to say Cloud. I have some fond memories of Final Fantasy VII, and I didn't think there'd be any possibility for any Final Fantasy content this generation of Smash Bros. So I often thought Cloud would have been an optimal choice to represent the series, same as Black Mage. Regardless, I was very impressed by this sudden reveal, and I knew it was going to be Cloud as soon as I heard the first notes of 'Opening - Bombing Mission.' It's also impressive that despite him lacking a full game on a Nintendo platform, here he is... fighting against Mario. Who would have ever thought this day would come...

Because I refuse to play anymore to any game of a franchise which gets more milked than it deserves, which has a game it managed to be my biggest disappointment in gaming, and which alienates the part most of its fanbase so much it buries alive much more deserving and endangered franchises.

What if the reason Sakurai added that extra slot in the last patch was that we're getting 2 characters in December, and the ballot winner at a later date, and we're getting a quick preview of them in their work in progress state ala Mewtwo?

I really doubt that the ballot winner(s) would be done only a month after the ballot officially finished.

Unless there is some sort of direct confirmation from Sakurai saying that Cloud is a ballot character, I really don't think we will hear anything about it until December.

Also, I have never played a Final Fantasy game, but I am so happy that Sakurai managed to surprise us all once again. It doesn't matter how likely Shovel Knight is. Or how wanted Krool is. Or how obvious Inklings are. Sakurai doesn't care. He does this specifically to surprise us. And for the first time in literally forever, his hard work actually surprised us without leaking beforehand.

Funny, the only 3rd party character to have not appeared as a guest fighter in another series before Smash is Sonic. Because Cloud was in that one wrestling game that everyone only bought because him and Tifa were in it.

I haven't really properly shown my view on Cloud, so I'll do it now.

Whilst he is starting to grow on me due to the quality of his trailer, I did feel mostly indifferent considering he wasn't one of the third-party characters I was particularly interested in, and I secretly preferred Black Mage as far as Square Enix characters go. So I barely discussed him as an actual character, though for those that don't recall it, I did state that Cloud is a preferable and more logical choice than Shovel Knight showing I wasn't really a Cloud detractor.

He honestly makes more sense than Shovel Knight. Neither of them are particularly notable in terms of Nintendo history with Shovel Knight's one game being multi-platform and Cloud being more Sony-oriented, but at least he's iconic.

That said, I don't particularly care much about the idea of Cloud being in Smash and honestly believe that choosing someone like the Black Mage, a character that is also iconic whilst resonating with Nintendo fans more, would be probably better. But at least Cloud is well-known enough to arguably qualify as a special case. What does Shovel Knight have?

I do have to say that for quiet a good while, I honestly believed that Cloud basically disconfirmed Isaac, though considering Isaac's more of an earth-themed battle mage whereas Cloud is more sword-oriented (the summons I thought was part of his moveset I now realise are just stage hazards and consideirng I thought for a moment Isaac being a summon character would no longer be unique, the realisation of this information kinda made the fear moot).

Nope. SK isn't the next character that was revealed so the leak is dead for good. Besides, Shovel Knight makes even less of a sense now more than ever with the reveal of another iconic third-party character.

I like how this sentence can be taken in both distinctive way and one doesn;t make sense.

If you take it first degree (what you intended), yeah it would be weird to have something meaningful that was blurred behind the letters

If you however take it second degree so they hid something by saying this with the menaing of the text, then you mean they are hiding something which is what will be annoucned from the direct so saying it is dumb is not making sense because they are hiding it
