So same as usual?ZeRo put out a controversial video.
...No?So same as usual?
I meant strictly in a Smash context in terms of what comes up when you just skim a collection of fan works in general.>Wolf
>Lack of fanart and fanfiction
Ohohoho there's pleeeeenty of Wolf fanart and fanfiction. In more ways than one.
I was about to point out how that's anecdotal, but you did it for me.I meant strictly in a Smash context in terms of what comes up when you just skim a collection of fan works in general.
In terms of his own series, I am vaguely aware that there is a far larger volume of . . .content, I.E.x
and so on.
It's just that whenever I start just skimming Smash Bros fan art and fan works in general, I see a lot more of Roy and Lucas than I do of Wolf. It's not that Wolf's doing horribly in the Smash fandom, just that I've seen a larger volume of more readily accessed material dedicated to the other two.
My purely anecdotal argument is deeply flawed by being anecdotal, of course, it's just that I'm trying to logic out what happened with Wolf rather than simply dismissing it as Sakurai being a jerk without even trying to think of what might have caused the situation.
I've watched A Christmas Story. I have no idea what the title is.I've never watched A Christmas Story. So I have no idea what the title is.
I did look to see how it actually lined up in one spot just now, just for the sake of actually checking the numbers and not being quite so anectotal.I was about to point out how that's anecdotal, but you did it for me.
Thanks, I couldn't be the buzzkill and cause everyone to throw a Rosalina insult at me over it. :V
I've seen critique for his videos a lot, but I was joking mostly. The video does sound kind of bad, but interesting. I'll watch it in a little bit and see what I think about it....No?
Most of his videos are pretty neutral actually, at least regarding Smash. Just informative things.
Are you sure those are for the specific Roy and Lucas from Smash, and not just a search on those names in general?I did look to see how it actually lined up in one spot just now, just for the sake of actually checking the numbers and not being quite so anectotal.
Out of the fanfictions with characters labelled on FanFiction.net in the Smash section:
: 93
: 306
: 401
I have no idea how many went unlabelled for each character and how many were made after their reintroductions in the case of the latter two, but that's what I pulled up.
I searched in the Smash section specifically. There might be some skew from other same-name characters, but I imagine it wouldn't be too extreme. Are you sure those are for the specific Roy and Lucas from Smash, and not just a search on those names in general?
Because if it's the latter, that would explain the huge numbers. Roy and Lucas are very common character names (case in point, we have two Roys in Smash itself :V).
Well I wouldn't say fanfics really speak for much, especially since many can be written by the same people.I searched in the Smash section specifically. There might be some skew from other same-name characters, but I imagine it wouldn't be too extreme.
I'm now going to look ant the individual fandoms and compare those as well for additional data. So far I looked up Roy in the Fire Emblem section and his number of fics was a third the size of his Smash number, LOL.
But he does look at fanfics for newcomers right???????I'm just going to speak up and say, I don't think Sakurai looked at how much fanfiction the veterans have in order to find out who to bring back.![]()
. . .Actually I accidentally left it on K-T while I was searching, only just realized the issue when I was looking up the last result for Lucas in his own series, LOL. ^^' I'll do the M-included Smash rating after I type down the K-T number for Earthbound.Well I wouldn't say fanfics really speak for much, especially since many can be written by the same people.
...Plus shota and bushounin (sp?) is more popular than furry stuff, I'm sure. :V
Well he must have read SOME fanfictionsI'm just going to speak up and say, I don't think Sakurai looked at how much fanfiction the veterans have in order to find out who to bring back.![]()
That hurts man.Hey, as long as Swamp's not in it, I don't care what the title is.
K. Rool may have been a loud voice, but was he really that loud? We also don't know if he's coming back to Nintendo or not.You know, I just had a thought.
Why do you think that any/the characters that you wanted for Smash but weren't added didn't get in?
I know, I just figured it might be a hypothetical way to determine how much attention a given character got outside of our given sector of the fandom. The amount of fun poked at fanfic writers by competitives means the overlap must not be too horribly strong, so it gives a secondary reference point.I'm just going to speak up and say, I don't think Sakurai looked at how much fanfiction the veterans have in order to find out who to bring back.![]()
I'm not sure what you mean by this. He has already appeared in games since Rare went MIA. That DS game and the baseball one so it can't be that he hasn't appeared since then. Do you mind enlightening me?K. Rool. . .We also don't know if he's coming back to Nintendo or not.

DLC news incoming?
Maybe?
I would consider casual fans to be ones who aren't particularly vocal or transparent about their love for a character, and don't really contribute to their fandom in any significant way, because they don't try to. It doesn't really have anything to do with whether or not they play competitively at tournaments or whatever.I think what Coricus means is how much of an overall attachment the character has to the fanbase as a whole. Not just the "hardcore" fans, but the "casual" fans too (Like not just those that are involved with the games themselves competitively or otherwise, but do still contribute a lot of fan works etc hope I worded that right....). Perhaps Wolf may or may not have received as much attention as some of the other Brawl veterans did with the "casual" fanbase which may or may not have affected his priority in some way.
Eitherway, we probably won't ever know unless Sakurai where to comment on the matter, which he probably won't do if the Melee veterans are anything to go by, which he only commented on how particularly popular Mewtwo and Roy where and all.
How much you wanna bet that at least 50% of. . .Actually I accidentally left it on K-T while I was searching, only just realized the issue when I was looking up the last result for Lucas in his own series, LOL. ^^' I'll do the M-included Smash rating after I type down the K-T number for Earthbound.
Characters in their own fandoms, SFW edition:
: 266
: 105
: 343
Smash Fics including M like I should have calculated in the first place:
: 103
: 351
: 435
Hence why I used the terms "casual" and "hardcore" gamers loosely as the term can mean different things to different people.I would consider casual fans to be ones who aren't particularly vocal or transparent about their love for a character, and don't really contribute to their fandom in any significant way, because they don't try to. It doesn't really have anything to do with whether or not they play competitively at tournaments or whatever.
I mean, I haven't played at a tournament yet, but I'm pretty sure if I said I was a "casual Rosalina fan", I would get at least 5 quote alerts in my notifications, lol.
I mean I think I remember reading in one draft she was meant to be a child of Link. There was a problem fetching the tweet
I didn't realize how much Linkle was "female link." I mean "no duh" but handing her a sword and shield makes it even more apparent than it already was. Yeesh

Those would work great as warriors.pls announce Mushroom Kingdom Warriors
or Smash Warriors

Much prefer her with bows, it's different enough, and works better as a link parallel as swords and bows are his signature weapons. There was a problem fetching the tweet

She originally was meant as a sister character( but not by actual blood) to link, but this was changed in legends.I mean I think I remember reading in one draft she was meant to be a child of Link.
And god knows how well those genes have kept in place.
**** yeah! Great( and almost the only choice) for a link's awakening character. A lot of potential. She looks really good her to!suddenly marin
