It really does seem like it's a Fairy/Steel type and does resemble Diancie in some ways. The new movie will be called "Volcanion and the Exquisite Magiana". I wonder if Magiana is just a regular Pokemon in this case. I mean we've had Lucario and the Mystery of Mew movie before. It is interesting that it's lower half of its body is shaped as a Pokéball though.

Looks like one of my predictions regarding what will be the big Pokemon news of the February CoroCoro issue was right: it was either Pokemon Z or the reveal of an entirely new Pokemon, and it turned out the latter was right.
With all these comments about its comparison to Diancie, I'm glad I'm not the only one that had a Diancie vibe when I first saw it, especially when looking at the eyes.
My thoughts about the Pokemon? It's definitely one of the more... interesting Pokemon. Back when they first teased the Volcanion movie with Pikachu and all the gears, I had a feeling that maybe there will be a new Pokemon that will be somehow connected to those gears... and here we are. Let's see if this Pokemon will grow on me in the coming months.
I'm going to stick with the assumption that this is our first generation 7 Pokemon for now, but if it turns out to be a new Pokemon for the Generation 6.5 idea, I wouldn't mind that as well since Kalos could use a few more new Pokemon.
On a side note, the new movie's title is now "Volcanion and the Exquisite Magiana". Magiana was a Pokemon made over 500 years ago. Volcancion is chasing Magiana, and only it knows Magiana's secret.
Also, about Magiana, it may still be a teaser for a "flagship mon" for Gen 7 being shown off.. actually like 2 years early but still.
Togepi (Edit: And Tracey's Marill? I can't remember if Orange Islands came out before Gen 2)
Wynaut
Munchlax, Bonsly, Lucario
Zoroark
I don't know what gen 6 Pokemon was a teaser
