Ah, the one Dorkly video that rustled the jimmies of Mario fans everywhere.

It easily shows you that the fanbase clearly doesn't know how to take a joke and find an excuse to hate on Minecraft. Sad, isn't?
Tell me about it. Just like the rampant hate on FNAF for similar reasons.

"Waaaaaah! The game is full of screaming children, cringey OC's, and furry porn! This is the most autistic thing in the planet since Roblox."

Well I got news for you. It's the same ****ing thing for other Nintendo fandoms! Yet nobody bats an eye even once.

Am I the only one here not in the mood for more Smash news and speculation?

I was hoping that the final DLC would silence this stuff for a few years. Guess the madness never ends.

It's likely just a port with all the DLC and maybe some extra character or two and a bit more extra stuff. Emphasis on maybe, if the bold and italic aren't clear enough.

Yo-kai Watch is doing pretty well at around 200,000 copies sold, and lots of kids thus I've seen on Twitter love the crap out of it.

I'm hoping the fanbase grows enough to overshadow the people who say that its a Pokemon ripoff, because as a fan it gets mildly annoying to hear it whenever I watch YW content.

'Michel Ancel Says Beyond Good And Evil 2 Still In The Works' I'll believe it when I see it. Also, apparently someone got an email confirming the petting minigame removal. Can NOA confirm this themselves? It's honestly gotten out of hand

200000 isn't pretty well outside Japan, you know. I think W101 did better than that by 100000

Well man a ton of us are from the Leaks and Speculation thread so I don't think it's gonna stop even long after Smash NX.

Off Smashboards, though; the fanbase always hungers

Because Nintendo is so perfect and doesn't have any flaws...

Then Federation Force and several abominable E3's happened (especially the last one). Or don't forget other lackluster games they released like Other M and Star Fox Command.

I bought Yo-Kai Watch a couple weeks ago and I love it a lot. While the gameplay is incredible (haven't touched anime or merchandise) I can see see why the SEVERE HEAVY amount of Japan culture in it can be a turn off.

I find it a shame people are missing out on this fun game.

I think you're the first person i've ever seen say Hyrule Warriors representation is likely, let alone inevitable. :p
Hyrule Warriors exceeded everyone's expectations. It broke a million and was popular enough to spur a 3ds version, heavily implying that there will be even more to come in the future. Some things that are significant about this are:

1. Dynasty Warriors is extremely niche outside of Japan and always has been. Having this type of game have an audience in the West is a really big deal.

2. This is the first Zelda spinoff game that didn't crash and burn and actually succeeded worldwide.

3. Japan's interest in console Zeldas has been waning since Ocarina of Time and has been bad enough in the past to make Nintendo question even bothering to make Zelda console games anymore.

This all being said, I could easily see not only another Hyrule Warriors game coming out before the next new Smash, but could easily see Impa, Lana, or Linkle joining the roster.

But as I said, why do people support Shantae or someone but deny Jibanyan? I don't see how Jibanyan is less likely then a ton of 3rd party wants such as Layton.

The Leaks and Speculation thread wore out long ago let's be honest. Hell after a while it simply became a social thread because people were tired of discussing the same leaks with little else on the topic.

That's what happens when nobody makes any leaks...

Honestly, I kinda miss those times but at the same time, how can we speculate about a game that's already completely finished?

If you're not counting the Europe + Japan + Rest of the World sales and just U.S. Sales alone, Wonderful 101 sold only 190,000 copies in its 3 year life span, and with the continuing marketing push YW has, Yo-kai Watch is going to surpass that pretty easily.

For older gamers, it's probably going to be a turn-off. For younger gamers, the intended audience, they'll probably not care about that sort of thing and enjoy the game for what it is.

Marketing is important, but as S.T.E.A.M proved, if no one's interested, marketing won't matter. It ISN'T doing welloutside Japan

Judging by how we've had numerous discussions of Smash 5 even though we still have yet to get the last two characters, very easily apparently.

Well, developers were playing too safe because it was new.

Smash is over 15 years old and has a high fanbase, so having your character in it is basically printing money.
So that basically means we should take jabs at the new guys for not getting characters even if it was out of their control?
I mean look, I get it was flawed, but crap happens. Game development isn't some candyland where everyone's dreams can come true.

And for the record this isn't aimed at you. They've basically become the butt of many jokes because heaven forbid things didn't go the unpleasable fanbase's way.

I'm not jabbing the new guys. I'm jabbing the companies that didn't give the game the characters it deserved.

I don't think Smash NX will have any new characters. At best, the DLC characters get new customs.

Hyrule Warriors representation?

Hyrule Warriors probably isn't even going to be remembered by the time Smash 5 starts development. It's a Zelda spinoff. This is the equivalent of saying "PAPER JAM AND POKEMON RUMBLE REPRESENTATION IN SMASH 5 IS INEVITABLE!".
How do you figure? Like I said, Hyrule Warriors is the first real successful Zelda spinoff and actually managed to sell well despite being a genre that's extremely niche outside of Japan, not to mention it's already had two games in less than two years. I seriously doubt it's going to disappear like a fart in a warm breeze, especially with the piles of money they probably made from DLC alone. It should also be noted that Paper Jam and Pokemon Rumble don't have stand out characters and, while spinoffs, they didn't really introduce anything new to their respective franchises. Hyrule Warriors did.

Accurate. At least the Soul Calibur fans have a reason to complain since Namco screwed up big time with the later games (especially V).

Ehh, the worst for SCV was the roster and the story mode.

Gameplay is great but I do believe it'll get better as time goes on when we get 6 and not rely on awful tactics and bring back fan favorites like Taki, Talim and others

Nintendo of France did state the game sales weren't they as they hoped to be, you are right on that part.

But i've been seeing the fanbase steadily growing, especially in social media Twitter and with YouTubers like AbdallahSmash026 and MunchingOrange pushing the franchise to become popular. This including the huge marketing push, there is potential in Yo-kai Watch becoming a huge success this year. And honestly it's too early to say anything about the franchise's state, I'd wait a full year to see what happens. There are some franchises that don't become popular until later on.

If they don't become popular until later on, they aren't considered worthy by most of the AAA industry these days. Especially if again, only Japan has any actual success. I also saw YTers with negative opinions about YW, which in turn couod DECREASE the fanbase

In defense of Matt Bozon's (Shantae's creator) uncurbed enthusiasm, it's Smash Bros. Having your character make the roster is the equivalent of making it into a Hall of Fame. It's pretty much become the dream of a lot of developers and a huge honor to make the cut. I'm one of those people that believes that Shantae would warrant a spot because all three games are fantastic and Shantae's backstory is actually kind of inspiring (basically a character and a game that spent nearly a decade in development limbo before finally coming out and quickly becoming a cult classic). She's essentially a Nintendo indie success story more than a decade before crowd funding projects became a thing which, if you consider that, is really impressive.

I remember Matt having an interview in which someone asked about Shantae in Smash, Matt listed how he envisioned her

What review? I don't see a review.
I see "Yo-Kai Watch - Jimmy Whetzel", but no review. All I see a comedy video for comedy purposes. Kinda like Zero Punctuation.

If there is a smash NX, they'll have to add new characters and stages.
Very few people will buy it otherwise.

It took nearly a full year to see Yo-kai Watch quickly rising above the charts in Japan.

Decreasing the fanbase isn't the right word, moreso of a less chance of joining the fanbase. It's not going to decrease, as anyone who I've seen played are really attached to the franchise already. In one negative review I watched earlier (The Jimmy Whetzel one), there we're lots of people defending the franchise and how its not a Pokemon ripoff when he flat out stated that the game is a Pokemon ripoff. And he is a huge Pokemon fan, at least from what I see of his thumbnails which makes an unreliable review to me.

I think he's somewhat serious in his review. Because I seen lots of criticism from him with YW even if he does have his comedic moments.

Except that was Japan. Not here.

Fine, decreasing the POTENTIAL fanbase, better?
Soooo...If someone loves Pokemon but didn't like YW it's unreliable. Got it.

As someone who was used to subscribe to Jimmy, I don't think ZP is an accurate comparison

Because it's a spinoff.

It was successful, sure, but what difference does that make? The next Zelda game will be out by the time SSB5 development starts. Content in Smash is selected based on what's relevant; Sakurai himself stated this.
