So, I'm not the only one guilty of listening to Sonic music now. Good, I AM NOT ALONE!

When I was younger, one of the reasons why I loved playing Sonic games was for the awesome music. Even today, I find myself listening to classic Sonic soundtracks not only for nostalgia, but because I really do think some of them are really awesome.

And that passion for VGM has lead me to liking chiptunes. Ahhh, those nostalgic 8-bit tunes~

Is it just me or does a lot of modern pop songs seem to have chiptune/8-bit influences? I find that reeeaally ironic as, back, then, creating chiptunes was for the nerdiest of the nerds. Not only that, but a lot of what chiptune is about is pushing old hardware/technology to its limitations, thus creating awesome and complex tunes that were never imaginable. To me, having modern/advance technology making those 8-bit beats kinda defeats the purpose, loosing its appeal in those pop songs. Oh well... I'm done with my little chiptune rant =P

As for the 360's success, eh, that was more of the Halo, Gears of War, Grand Theft Auto (exclusive content), and Call of Duty (exclusive content) machine, as well as a better price point (as you mentioned) and superior marketing (although the PS3's marketing the last year or so has been absolutely great).

Those games also played very big roles in the 360 success. Multiplats also made the 360 even more attractive. The architecture was way too complicated to get multiplats that were as good as it's competitors.
Remember when Gabe Newell came out and said that the PS3 was a waste of time?

Well that's because the Wii basically had hand me down technology (sans motion controls). It was barely stronger than the GameCube.

This is true. Which is why I see know reason why MGS V can't be on the Wii U.

When was the last time classic Mega Man appeared on an original Nintendo console game=???

3 weeks ago. (Project X Zone ) But in all seriousness, The latest I can think of is 2010, and that was for Megaman 10. To be fair, when was the last time Megaman had is own game on any console? it came out across all platforms and didn't exclude the Wii. The reason why Megaman fits is because his games were a big part of Nintendo's history.

Personal peeve's doesn't mean much to Sakurai. He doesn't care really what Nintendo is peeved about. Plus if Nintendo said no to Snake in Smash, what do you think that does to their relationship with Konami=??? "No to Snake in Smash, yet you keep Sonic? Okay. Metal Gear Solid V and the next home console Castlevania denied."

Well personal peeves meant a lot to Sakurai when it came to tripping. Though Snake's inclusion isn't as bad as tripping. But Sakurai does still consider which characters are deserving and which aren't. As for not caring about what Nintendo is peeved about, I gotta disagree. The dude has to make sure the models and moves comply with Nintendo's in-house devs. Game Freak in particular has been described as a pain in the ass.

Even in cases like adding Pokemon characters, there are a lot of parties involved and there’s a lot of wrangling. It’s much tougher than people can imagine.

Besides, such vendettas would make these 2 games worse. Sakurai seems to dislike Intelligent Games and the Pokémon Company's handling of their characters and how difficult they are to get characters from them, yet you won't see him go "fine, we won't have a single Pokémon/Fire Emblem/Paper Mario character or reference."

Well Sakurai is making this game for the fans first and foremost. So regardless if he dislikes a company, he is still going to comply since it is all for fans/consumers.

In time I think most owners of said consoles will get the next ones. Also, Kojima is his own man, and does what he wants. If Konami tells him no, he could just be like "okay," make that one game, and create his own studio that basically takes over Konami. He's not exactly a guy a company can or should try to "control."

Well of course over time they will get either/both system(s), but in the context of MGS V release I doubt the install base will rival the 360/PS3. Regardless if Kojima is his own man, he is still a businessman. All companies in this transition between generations see the benefit of supporting both consoles. Heck Rockstar isn't even bothering to to make PS4/Xbox1 version. Also keep in mind his game was shown during the Xbox 360 portion of Microsoft's E3 presentation.

I think MGS V on the WiiU is a tricky thing; I mean, MGS V is always cutting edge, and it will push the Xbox One and PS4 to their limits further than any game before it. With the 360 and PS3, it will do the same with those consoles. But for the WiiU, it will need to be somewhere in between, especially with literally no hard drive space (8 GB, lol! I can't believe Nintendo fanboys defended that!) and 1/4th of the RAM of the 360 and PS3.

That tweener status (albeit more towards the PS4 and Xbox One) is really what hurts the WiiU with ports of such "cutting edge" games.

During GDC Kojima discussed how the new Fox Engine was scalable between platforms. So the transition between PS4 to PS3 won't be too difficult.

I always did that for Mario, Sonic, Mega Man, Donkey Kong, Pokémon, Tetris, and Metroid games growing up when I was really young.

And yeah, Angel Island Zone was my song, along with Emerald Hill Zone in Sonic & Knuckles, but Ice Cap Zone was up there, too!

I think it is more because those kind of songs were inspired by older pop songs from the 60's and 70's. Koji Kondo, for instance, was a huge 60's British Pop fan.
