Even though I don't have a Wii U (yet) it looks like a very fun and interesting game. Is it a Nintendo IP? Any chance we could get a rep for Smash?
It's from Platinum Games, and no, there's no chance.
The game is being released far too late for it to have any impact on SSB4.

Agree'd. But I'm gonna try to stay optimistic, but this news of him working on Sticker Star. Yeesh! That's gonna put a damper on my anticipation. Stop planting seeds of doubt into my head! LOL
I think it's best to wait and see what kind of game it is first before we get hyped.
Well part of the reason of the Xbox1's success was the price and the fact that it was the newest device on the block without anything to contest it. So it was able to build a big enough fan base (despite RROD) to keep the 360 on top until late last year when the PS3 finally surpassed it. I'd say they took advantage of the opportunity and Sony's arrogance to make the 360 a success.
You mean the 360's sucess=??? :awesome: And both the 360 and WiiU ran into the same problems: A Sony console (the PS2 and PS3) having a strong sales/library that built up at the end of its' cycle.
This article alone shows that Sakurai is deciding on which characters deserve to make it into smash
http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/06...ters-receive-no-priority-for-super-smash-bros
Hell this article as well sheds even more light on the proccess on who he think is deserving to make it into this next installment.
http://www.polygon.com/2013/6/17/44...director-masahiro-sakurai-character-selection
That doesn't mean recent Nintendo console appearances decide it. A characters' merits make it. If Sakurai cut Captain Falcon because he hadn't had a game for 10 years (sans Brawl), would that be a good reason=??? Snake was probably the best designed newcomer in Brawl, and cutting him for that reason would be Silly.

Also, as I have said before, re-adding characters is a lot easier, cheaper, more straight-forward, and less time consuming than adding newcomers. This is especially true since Snake's only real issues are a few of his hitboxes and damage percentages, unlike characters like Pit and Bowser, who needed a significant overhaul.
But MGS V is coming to 360 and PS3, which the Wii U is obviously more powerful than. So there is no excuse for it not to be workable on the Wii U. Yes, we got a port of a PS2 game, The least the Wii U could get is a HD port of MGS 4 or a HD collection.
I think the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions are placeholders that will be cancelled if the Xbox One or the PS4 sell very well. That's my theory at least. Seeing as how Kojima loves to push consoles to their edge with all canon MGS games since the original, I think that is a fair reason to make an exclusive. However, if there is a 360 and PS3 release, a WiiU release would be great, too. MGS with a touch screen IMO would be a beautiful thing.

As for the WiiU, I think getting the Anniversary or Legacy Collection is still very possible for said console. It would be a great holiday/summer 2014 release.

Yes, yes it is. And maybe, the game has been in develop for enough time for Sakurai to look into it.

Actually, Nintendo co-owns/owns The Wonderful 101. http://www.trademarkia.com/the-wonderful-101-85727861.html
And that is not excuse. The game is releasing next month. And Olimar has his whistle from Pikmin 3 despite the game just being released in one country.

HAHA, no. Fire Emblem: The Bind Blade/Sword of the Seals came out in 2002, and yet it still had an impact in Melee (Roy as a playable character).
I hope not.
I own a PS3 and I'm not planning to get the PS4 or Xbox One.
I get the Xbox One hate, but what is wrong with the PS4=??? I mean, unless you don't plan on getting said console immediately, the idea of playing a new MGS game in an open world environment on the strongest console this new generation of gaming is amazing. Imagine the franchise taking a leap forward like it did with MGS4 all over again!

Fun fact: Nightmare before christmas was going to have a sequel where they go to the other holiday worlds, but Tim Burten wasn't down to clown.

Also, fedora's rarely look good.

Oh, and I can definitely see Smash getting DLC now.

DLC?

Ew...
Sakurai confirmed he is considering patches for the game, so DLC isn't a stretch. Hey, if we got DLC for Mewtwo and Roy in Brawl, I would have loved it. That would have basically been the perfect roster for Brawl, and despite the lack of Ridley, it would have left me pretty much completely satisfied.

Plus, with DLC, imagine getting several past stages via DLC! At most it would be like $3 a stage (and it would be great stages), and I would love it. Sakurai wouldn't even need to be involved; Nintendo could do it, just like they did for Fire Emblem: Awakening (although cheaper and more packs, please? Maybe a season pass?). Plus it would be cool if we could get DLC to play the Smash 3DS stages on Smash WiiU, and vice versa.

I'd rather just get it on the PS3 than buy an entirely new console.
Nothing wrong with the PS4, I just don't feel like getting it. No games for it, other than MGSV, really interest me and it's expected to come out on the PS3 and 360.

^^^^^^^^^^ Confirmed doesn't mean it can't be cancelled. Kojima changes his mind a lot. Remember, MGS4 got delayed 2 years!

You mean the EVO E3 Presentation didn't make you hungry for that black box of awesomeness=???

If Smash Bros. and our Smash Bros. fanbase (here at SmashBoards, AllisBrawl, Brawl Vault, etc) didn't exist, I would be way more hyped for the PS4 than the WiiU or 3DS.

and as for the DLC topic,
I don't want to be individually purchasing overpriced stages and characters.

I'm just "eeh" about it right now, because most games (especially fighting games) simply abuse DLC

if they do it, it better be done right.

The difference with say Street Fighter is it is all pre-planned, there's been on the disc DLC, and lots of cheap money grabbing moves.

With Sakurai and Namco Bandai, it wouldn't be pre-planned. It would be like "oh, the deadline is here, and we didn't finish Roy." "Hey, let's make him free/cheap DLC!" That way, we don't lose that content, and maybe a Smash game could get released after only two delays!

I trust Sakurai to use DLC to make it worth our time. Plus, I'm sure there'd be say a Season Pass for all or nearly all of the DLC. I'm also sure we wouldn't have to pay for DLC for things like alternate outfits, too.

Oh, and patches and glitch fixes will definitely be 100% free.

MGR was also supposed to be a 360 exclusive originally.
I'm glad Sony were able to convince Kojima otherwise.

Still, PS3 still has a good 2-4 years left in it's lifetime. It'd be smarter to release on both consoles, rather than a next gen console that barely anyone owns yet.

In terms of software, the 3DS is by far the best gaming system of 8th gen so far, disregarding SSB4.
Its library is shaping up to be one of the very best in gaming history, and if it keeps up the pace, I don't see Xbox One or PS4's library being nearly as good anytime soon.

Nintendo makes good dlc, from FE: Awakening, to New Super Luigu U, I'd expect smash dlc to be great

Yea, that's the ideal scenario, which is what I would like.
Most 7th-gen games gave DLC a very bad image though.

You mean the 360's sucess=??? :awesome: And both the 360 and WiiU ran into the same problems: A Sony console (the PS2 and PS3) having a strong sales/library that built up at the end of its' cycle.
Well unlike the PS2, the PS3 was ridiculously priced and they were arrogant enough to expect gamers to buy it at that point.
They also made they systems architecture arcane, arrogant once again expecting devs to spend all their time & resources to develop on the PS3 first and other consoles 2nd. (All of which doesn't seem to be the problem)
They kind of sabotaged themselves in the PS3 era and spent the rest of the gen playing catch up, which kind of made the 360 road to success easy.. All of which the PS2 didn't go through.
Well I never said recent Nintendo console appearances decide a characters inclusion. I was more so getting at the fact that, Nintendo seems to be getting hand-me-down ports of MGS games.
And I find it odd to give a roster spot to a character that appears on Nintendo's latest consoles only through ports.
If Nintendo wasn't on of the first choices for this game to debut on, why should the character be on of the first choices for 3rd party contenders.
Although, it that maybe efficient I'm not sure if going the "Baller on a Budget" route will be for the best. Sometimes investing a bit more can pay off in the long run; Especially, if it could possibly benefit the overall game.
Though I doubt Snake's inclusion is that big of a deal. It's more of a personal peeve for me.
I think the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions are placeholders that will be cancelled if the Xbox One or the PS4 sell very well. That's my theory at least. I doubt that will be the case the 360 and the PS3 have a well established install base. And I highly doubt every existing 360 and PS3 owner will have a PS4 and 360 by the time this game comes out. I don't think Konamai will alienate a bigger install base and more cash.

I really hope Wii U gets MGS V (In the same launch window as the other platforms, I don't want to play a Director's Cut version 1 year after the game was released. *cough*Deus Ex*cough* ) or at least an Anniversary/Legacy collection as you mentioned

The 3DS is on fire right about now. The 3DS has been the best console this year, and its' not even close, despite the PS3 getting Bio Shock Infinite and The Last Of Us.

And yeah, the PS4 will be very good by the end of 2015, but as for the Xbox One, I just don't know what to expect from it. I do love Microsoft's new approach, however, and their quick change of tone and direction. I hope all 3 of them are successful, and make us gamers a lot of good games, make their employees a lot of money (and hire new employees), and help make the best 3rd party companies (including independent developers) and their employees much richer.

Oh my god people are actually saying Crash Bandicoot has a chance at getting in and one guy is trying to use Snake as a reason.
Not gonna lie, but I would love it if Crash in a smash game after these next 2 forthcoming smash games.
I may be late on this but Amercian Idol winner Taylor Hicks got in tied for 257th place at EVO's Melee.

I don't care about American Idol (anymore) or Taylor Hicks but I thought this was worth sharing.
Awesome for him, and I'm glad to have him in the community. GG Taylor Hicks. I hope he had fun. Maybe we'll get EVEN MORE MEDIA COVERAGE! :)

Yeah, DLC should add on to what couldn't be finished, was only thought of conceptually, or what was thought of afterwards.

Yeah, MG Rising as a multi-console game was a right move.

As for the PS3 and 360 release, I agree it should happen, but not if it's just a crap version of the game. I get that the Xbox One and PS4 version should be better, but not at the expense of making games of two opposite brands of quality.
To be honest I'm such a sucker for Smash I'd probably play 10 dollars for Pichu.
I would pay $50 per character, easily. And considering what a sucker I am for smash, if Smash 3DS and/or Smash WiiU were competitively viable, fun to play, and deep (or they had a great modding community), I would pay even more than that, easily, and I would maybe even like it if they went full Street Fighter IV upgraded version on it!
